Belmont Library 2017 - 2019 The Next 3 Years
It is my great pleasure to report some good news.
Belmont Rural Parish Council has agreed to support the continued running of the library.
However, instead of the usual 1 year grant support where each year a request comes back to the Parish Council for a further grant to support the next year we have agreed to support this for the next 3 years.
This will also give the Library the opportunity with some security behind them to develop the services they offer even further.
My final note is that during the coming 2017 there are many projects earmarked for the Parish, which you will hopefully see the area being enhanced and improved, plus with our new Handyman out and about you should see a difference.
These will be reported on as they happen.

Hereford Express Licence Review

Hereford Express in Foley Lane are having their licence reviewed due to selling cigarettes and alcohol to underage people.
During the course of an operation run by trading standards on 25th October 2016, Mr Selven Nathan DOB 25.10.1988 did sell age restricted products to two underage volunteers who were in fact sixteen years old. Namely one pouch of Cutter’s Choice hand rolled tobacco, a can of Scrumpy Jacks and a bottle of Blossom Hill Wine. This contravenes the Licensing Act 2003 and also the The Nicotine Inhaling Products (Age of Sale and Proxy Purchasing) Regulations 2015.
The seller mentioned above was interviewed at the time of sale and evidence gathered showed that Mr Nathan had no regard to the challenge 25 policy that he was aware of. He hadn’t received adequate training from the DPS nor was he aware of the condition regarding a refusals register. We had received complaints regarding this premises that they were selling age restricted products to children. When interviewed under caution, Mr Nathan told me that he had been visited (that same week) by a college lecturer and advised that college student were being sold tobacco and alcohol products. But Mr Nathan did not ID either of the volunteers.Giving the location of the premises being in close proximity to the college, it is the opinion of the service area that the licence to sell alcohol be revoked to prevent further sales in order to protect children from harm. The sales show the DPS does not have control of the premises.Herefordshire Council Licensing Policy states that any premises failing a test purchase will be reviewed

The Sad Demise Of The Moorfields Inn

I remember this pub in it's hay day, it is a real shame to see the sad decline and closure of this pub. We would often go in for a few pre-match beers. I remember back when Richard and his wife had it.
I think Spaldy had it for a while too, he then went on a bought Manhattans in town.
King George V Playground.

Would anybody know who maintains the equipment there. I ask, because I took my daughter there last weekend and the little trampoline had gone and had been replaced by Tarmac! There were also some loose wire strands poking out from one of the climbing frames and nettles around one of the slides. Many thanks in advance.
Hereford FC and swearing
These weeks HT has a full page article about Hereford FC the minor problems they have had with some supporters and the great support they are getting from fans. The new chairman - Ken Kinnersley - has made a quite ridiculous comment 'We never want to stop swearing because that's part of football....'. I bet HT were rubbing their hands with glee when he said this
So to use the f word or even the c word to Edgar Street in front of children, women or any other person who has a modicum of decency is okay by him. No I'm taking the moral high ground and can/do swear on occasions.
Every youth football club and schools have a strict zero tolerance on abuse and have and will continue to challenge behaviour to ensure correct standards are set for our young people.
Players at all levels are given yellow cards or sent off for swearing, people are arrested for using foul language in the street, parents chastise their children and customers are banned from pubs for acting in a similar manner.
So perhaps Mr Kinnersley should actually reflect on what he has been quoted of saying and realise the damage this can cause for the reputation of the club as a supposed community asset for all to enjoy.
Debate.
Another one to reminisce about - Goldings
Freedom At Last!
Today, at Lancaster House, our Premier Theresa May made what was a remarkable and historic speech outlining how we are to extricate ourselves from the European Union. For me it was a pleasure to sit there and watch this great day unfold and I feel proud once again to be British and to now know beyond any doubt that we are most definitely leaving the madness of the Union.
The speech was strong on detail, very optimistically aspirational, open and friendly, extremely pragmatic and in very clear terms she outlined the folly in Brussels attempting to punish us and subsequently destroying themselves.
Happily, in a very honourable British way, she took the time to reach out to the millions of EU migrants resident in our Country who, through no fault of their own are now caught up and snared in this political event and I hope her words of comfort to them, very unlike those from Brussels, bring them some confidence that they will not have to leave Britain.
We are to leave the single market, we will no longer have to tolerate the folly of The Free Movement Of People, we will regain control of our borders, our Country will no longer be tied and bound to the judiciary of European Law, our Country will be back in our hands, the funding to the EU will cease, we can trade with the outside world and it looks very much like we will leave the Customs Union that's so damaging to economic growth right across the Continent.
The tide has certainly shifted in our favour. The Euro currency continues to destroy the Southern Medditeranean nations, Italy is on the brink, Greece destroyed, owned and run by Germany, many citizens across the Geographic EU area are beginning to reject the ideology of Federal Europe, Jean Claude Juncker and his deciples are falling apart, TTIP is gone and ain't coming back, and finally, if that ain't sweet enough for me, the President Elect Trump has made it perfectly clear he despises the EU and Britain will be at the front of the queue in any future trade deal. Indeed, like the USA, so many nations, sympathetic to our position have stepped forward and assured Britain that they will trade with us which has certainly helped us and strengthened the negotiating position of Britain.
The only unknown in this political equation is whether or not the EU will still be standing by the time Britain has negotiated it's exit from the madness of a Union which has become the greatest man made mistake since Hitler decided that the German people required more living space.
WVT Hereford County Hospital

With the national NHS crisis ongoing, please share your experiences whilst at/in the County Hospital; whether a patient yourself or friend/relative accompanying someone; awaiting operations or short/long term care. I am looking for honest answers and experiences NOT opinions or assumptions.
Leave out the extortion that is CP+ car park- nothing to do with NHS - even staff have to pay!!
I can't share too much information myself due to confidentiality reasons; but from the inside the situation is far worse than "you" see.
Please do watch 'Hospital' on bbc2 for a insight into real life- not drama like holby or casualty.
