Anybody fancying a free guided walk in the countryside this Saturday would be well advised to take up this invite. Suitable footwear advised!
New county nature reserve opening next to Moccas Park

FAMILIES, walkers and wildlife enthusiasts from across Herefordshire are being invited to the opening of a new county nature reserve.
Natural England has extended its invitation to attend Moccas Hill Wood on Saturday, May 21 which will be opened for the first time in living memory.
Those attending will have the chance to explore and learn more about the wildlife, landscape and history of the hilltop site, which is adjacent to the Moccas Park National Nature Reserve.
The free event will begin at 10am, and will end by 3pm. Experts will be on hand to offer guided walks where visitors can learn about the unique features of the site, or explore the site at their own pace on the family-friendly discovery trail.
After years under plantation forestry, the site is being restored to open wood pasture using designs based on Capability Brown, and ecological principles.
"This is a great opportunity for local people to explore an amazing new site and enjoy stunning views across the Herefordshire hills and Black Mountains," said Natural England's senior reserve manager, Saul Herbert.
"But it's much more than that. We are starting work to replant the site with seedlings from the majestic veteran trees at Moccas Park National Nature Reserve, to re-create the open woodland that once covered this area.
"We hope lots of families and wildlife enthusiasts alike will join us to learn more about this site and its history, enjoy the new discovery trail and celebrate returning this stunning hilltop to its former glory."
Parking is at Moccas Park National Nature Reserve, which is on Pentre Lane in Bredwardine. A free minibus service will run all day to and from the site. Catering and toilets will also be available.
National Nature Reserves are some of the finest sites in England for wildlife and geology. They have been established to protect and manage the special wildlife habitats, species and geological features that occur there.
These features are of national and often international importance with many NNRs providing important areas for study and research.
Eurovision Song Contest Fixed?

Well I predict the UK will win the 'Eurovision Song Contest' because they want to keep us in Europe and it's always been fixed in my view, voting has not started yet so lets see how we do...
I.S.I.S.
He's and angry young chap isn't he! Bloody Hell! Abu Baki al -Baghdadi. What a nasty bit of work he is. My God! He definitely wasn't breast fed was he. You don't see the lads staggering up the street with a carrier bag full of ale shouting, 'we're off to Baghdadi's for a good bloody laugh'.
Good grief what with the beheadings, the stonings and now the bloody crucifixions he's the sort you want to keep well away from. If he comes up my path demanding I convert, I'll open the bloody door, throw me Scratchings to the floor, embrace him, throw myself on the Prayer Mat and with my tiny pocket compass I'll be facing bloody East screaming, 'Give me the blood. Give me the Healing. Allahu Akbar'. I'm converting. You'd be a fool not to.
Bloody religious zealots. Every bloody time they fire off a bloody bullet or a bomb or slice some poor souls head off its, 'Allahu Akbar'. Bloody Hell. Mind, when half a bloody mountain falls off, flattens the village and concusses thousands, they don't shout, Allahu Akbar then do they? No they bloody don't.
If half a bloody mountain fell off and hit me on the bloody head that's the last thing I'd be shouting. More like, 'you miserable toss pot. After all the bloody praying we've done this is the last thing we expected from you Allah'
And of course you've got the last remnants of New Labours social engineering gang who's mantra is, 'Dont Tolerate Diversity. Celebrate it'. I'd like to see what they'd say if al-Baghdadi tipped up at their abode with a bloody sharp knife and a bag of rubble. Let them celebrate that and tell me how happy they are knowing that God approved of their horrific death.
Bloody religious zealots. We've got Bush and Blair and they've got Abu Baki al-Baghdadi. Well he doesn't scare me. Never has and never will and i'll be damned if I change my daily routine simply because I've just insulted him. He can do his worst as far as I'm concerned.
And the poor Muslim British! My God, how they must hurt inside knowing that their religion is being associated with a complete headbanger who was never given the opportunity to suck upon his Mothers breast. If ever there was an argument that breast feeding was good for you then this is it.
I'd say to all the Moms out there who are heavily pregnant and near on ready to lactate their motherly milk, 'get your new born baby breast fed as quick as you can.'
Garden rubbish
I was chatting to a neighbour this morning over a coffee and saying I need to pop into town to get some green garden rubbish bags, now according to my neighbour, someone she knows had a letter when she got some green bags to say that there is or will be an option of a wheeled bin that you pay per month or year for garden rubbish that will be collected fortnightly.
I did not get the letter myself when I got my bags today, I can not see anything about it on the council website, do anyone know about this?
The person who got the letter worked it that it would cost them more to have the bin than to have green bags, as I said this is just what I have heard from a neighbour.
I have steps, so having wheeled bins is not a good option for me, but just being nosy really.
Serious incident in Bartestree

A serious police incident has been declared in Bartestree.
Tidnor Lane has been closed off in both directions going up to Longworth Lane.
Best Site For Tourist Information Centre

I have been reading this article in the HT and Mayor Charles Nicholls is correct, the city could benefit from a Tourist Information Centre and as you can see he has suggested a good location with this empty shop in Widemarsh St.
I thought we had once had one in King St but the funding was stopped sometime ago and it closed?
However, I believe there is a better alternative and it is smack opposite our Cathedral.
Neglected Garages Usk Close

The garages in Usk Close Redhill are a complete disgrace! These unmaintained garages not only make the surrounding area look terrible but are also an advert to invite vandalism.
Who owns or is responsible for these garages? Would this be Hereford Housing?

Leak in H/H roof damages furniture

My Niece has had a leak in the roof of her flat that has caused damage to bedroom furniture (mould on wood slats/mattress & bedding).
Hereford housing are refusing to pay for their replacement.Surely this should not be the case.
Anyone else here had a similar experience?
Belmont Community Centre

I am very pleased to announce that South Wye Community Association (Belmont Community Centre) has been shortlisted in the "Local Community Award" category of the Herefordshire Community Champions Awards for 2016.
The final of the awards evening will take place on 29 April 2016 at the Shire Hall and we are all delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for the final.
The Community Centre at Belmont continues to develop the services that we offer, we have a very active weekly coffee morning every Friday from 10 am, where we regularly meet over forty people. We also hold two lunch clubs a month where fresh food is prepared and cooked for over forty local residents.
Since the closure of the main library in Hereford our footfall has continued to grow with around 40,000 people in the last year. The licence for the year 2016/2017 is due to be signed and we know the library will remain in Belmont until at least the 31 March 2017. (Licences are issued on a yearly basis).
We also have a large number of user groups who hire the centre and we are considering extending the services that we offer to include "well being". We hope to publish more information on our plans in the near future.
In the meantime if you would like to volunteer at the centre or would just like to know more about us, please call in and see us. You are guaranteed a warm welcome.
Finally, I would just personally like to thank all of the volunteers, trustees and users of the centre for all of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by them. Long may it continue and we look forward to a successful future.
I will keep you updated on the competition result :)
Justice for the Ninety Six.
At last! Since that dreadful day in 1989 the families of the dead, their friends and relatives and the people of Liverpool have fought them all in their pursuit of the truth and now, over a quarter of a century later, they've finally crossed the finishing line and won a great victory against all those who lied, secreted the facts and tried to place the blame at the feet of Liverpool supporters and the great people of Liverpool.
The political establishment, the Police, most notably the Sun newspaper, they all lied and secreted their wrongdoings to the detriment of all who grieved following the Hillsborough disaster and now it's all over. The Ninety Six were unlawfully killed! This is a victory, not only for the Ninety Six and all the people of Liverpool, but a victory for the power of people who refused to give in.

SAS Veteran Jailed - This is NOT Justice

SAS Veteran Albert Patterson said he kept the 9mm self-loading pistol, which was taken from an Argentinian officer, to remind him of the 22 friends that died in the conflict.
