Although it is rare on this family friendly forum, may I remind you all of the law as it is stated, regarding online bullying.

The context is guided towards younger people, however the principle is still the same.

Types of cyberbullying

There are many ways of bullying someone online and for some it can take shape in more ways than one. Some of the types of cyber bullying are:

Harassment -

This is the act of sending offensive, rude, and insulting messages and being abusive. Nasty or humiliating comments on posts, photos and in chat rooms. Being explicitly offensive on gaming sites.

Denigration –

This is when someone may send information about another person that is fake, damaging and untrue. Sharing photos of someone for the purpose to ridicule, spreading fake rumours and gossip. This can be on any site online or on apps. We even hear about people altering photos of others and posting in online for the purpose of bullying.

Flaming –

This is when someone is purposely using really extreme and offensive language and getting into online arguments and fights. They do this to cause reactions and enjoy the fact it causes someone to get distressed.

Impersonation –

This is when someone will hack into someone’s email or social networking account and use the person's online identity to send or post vicious or embarrassing material to/about others. The making up of fake profiles on social network sites, apps and online are common place and it can be really difficult to get them closed down.

Outing and Trickery –

This is when someone may share personal information about another or trick someone into revealing secrets and forward it to others. They may also do this with private images and videos too.

Cyber Stalking –

This is the act of repeatedly sending messages that include threats of harm, harassment, intimidating messages, or engaging in other online activities that make a person afraid for his or her safety. The actions may be illegal too depending on what they are doing.

Bullying by spreading rumours and gossip —

The worst thing about social networking sites and messaging apps is that anything nasty posted about you can be seen by lots of people and these posts can go viral very fast and be shared by so many people within minutes in some cases.

From what we have heard from people who have been bullied online, the most vicious gossip and rumours are often spread by people who were once your best friends so it's best to keep secrets and personal information to yourself. Only tell people things if it wouldn't embarrass you if other people found out about them. Posting false and malicious things about people on the internet can be classed as harassment.

Threatening behaviour —

Anyone who makes threats to you on the internet could be committing a criminal offence. It's against the law in the UK to use the phone system, which includes the internet, to cause alarm or distress. It could also be against the 1997 Harassment Act. If threats are made against you then it's essential you confide in your parents, or someone you trust so that they can make a complaint to the police. If you can't print out the threats use the "print screen" button or snipping tool to take a snapshot of the computer screen and then save that somewhere safe. Or if you have a phone or tablet, use the screenshot function and keep these images safe.

BBQ and Brews in Commercial Road is due to close next month.

Hereford, it has being emotional! After a year of serving low and slow BBQ in Hereford, it is time for us to say goodbye. We will continue to serve meaty happiness until our doors close at 6pm on Sunday 4th October. A massive thank you has to go to the customers whom have supported in the last year and we hope to see you again before we leave the livestock of Hereford to breathe a sigh of relief. We are still stocked and ready to rock for the Rugby World Cup too so bring your party here.

A builders van was vandalised to gain entry and cleaned out. This happened in broad daylight around 11am a few days ago. The van was parked in Radford gardens near the block of new flats. A HH van was also parked next to it but was untouched. I believe the contents was carpentry related.

It appears the culprits left in a white transit van that was a little battered, and seen by a few tradesmen around the site.

I have received a nice email from Amelie from the Hereford Beer House, providing they can get all the fire and safety checks approved they aim to be open on Wednesday 11th November.

I attached 2 recent pictures of the shop, and it's still a mess as you can see! We had a lot of issues with works in the last days and will have to push back the opening to next Wednesday (11th of November) - if we receive approval from Fire Safety and Building Controls.

 

We plan to be an hybrid of a shop and a bar. We built a big cold room equipped with glass doors (like the ones you have in service stations for cold drinks). Retail shelving will be on one side, accessible through the glass doors for customers to grab the beers they want to take away or drink in.

 

In the cold room behind the retail shelves we'll have space for storage. We'll be the first bottle shop in the UK to have entire storage and retail refrigeration! You're supposed to treat beer like milk (=keep it refrigerated as much as possible) so we wanted to provide the best conditions for the beer we'll be selling.

 

We also fitted bar taps coming out of the cold room, and the kegs will be chilled inside the cold room. We will have 6 beers on tap, changing regularly, and it will be only keg, no cask (we believe Hereford already has a great cask beer offering).

At the bar you'll also be able to fill a 1L or 2L container (called a growler) with beer to take home. It's a nice option for a dinner or a party!

 

We will also sell homebrew supplies for the adventurous ones who want to make their own beer. Jonny (my partner) is a brewer and will be able to provide lots of advice on this matter.

 

We will have beers from the best breweries in the country, as well as some beers from America, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Norway, etc. We will also stock cider from Herefordshire producers such as Oliver's Cider, Pip's, Gwatkins, Newton Court, Skyborry, Once Upon a Tree or Dunkertons.

 

Food wise we'll have only cold food: cheese and charcuterie plates (we are working with the Mouse Trap and Trealy Farm), sausage rolls (from Heggies), snack salamis and olives.

 

Sorry that was a bit long and I hope it makes sense (I'm not british so my english can be weird sometimes).

 

Feel free to come and see the final result next week and we can then take some time to have a chat about the organisation of the festival.

Many observers say that if ever there is another World War it'll start in the Middle East. My view is that there is more chance of it starting off in Europe.

History in Europe is beginning to repeat itself. The First and Second World Wars began within our Continent because of expansionist ideologies that began during times of economic hardship and nationalistic feelings that created an 'us' and 'them' feeling which eventually spiralled out of control resulting in War.

Today, the very same expansionist policies are being pursued by the European Union creating the movement of vast numbers of people who want what the others have got. These times we are now living in are not that different to those of the twentieth century that wreaked havoc upon the world.

Some nations, more notably the Greeks are being ruled by the mandarins of the EU. This great nation of people are suffering because they were swallowed up by the promise of expansionist ideals that saw them and their tiny economy trying to compete with the mighty Deutch Mark and the EU desire to strip them and everyone else of their sovereignty.

In the United Kingdom, more people arrived in our Country at the beginning of the last decade than they did between the Battle of Hastings and the few years following World War Two. As a result, some seventy per cent of British people want immigration stopped or controlled. Far right groups all across Europe are springing up simply because they choose to keep their sovereignty, they do not want to be ruled by Brussels and they are feeding upon the very natural human emotion that makes people feel threatened and frightened by things they no longer understand.

The Ukraine? Half their population wants to be tied and bound to Putin and Mother Russia, while the other half, notably the younger generation, want to become a part of the West. Throughout it all, the EU are wooing and seducing the people of the Ukraine in the hope that yet another state will become a part of the United States of Europe.

The Ukraine is only a short step away from outright Civil War and despite all their woes, all the bloodshed and the frightening images we see on the tv, still the mandarins from Brussels are orchestrating chaos and madness in their pursuit of expansionist ideology.

Mother Russia is on the rise and before to long I see the Ukraine government inviting Putin to aid them. Then? God knows what will happen. The Russian military will move into Ukraine, the EU and the United States will react and its not beyond the realms of possibility that other Central and Eastern European nations will begin to fragment and join this bonfire of madness.

We've got to get out of the European Union. The EU is rapidly developing into a totalitarian communist styled base of managing people that are no longer British, Greek, Ukraine or anything else. Nationality, the place of your birth and your heritage and culture will become silly things of the past and seen as outdated and pointless labels that are meaningless to the collusus that is the European Union.

Not so long ago, the great Mikael Gorbachev commented, that he was amazed that European political leaders appear to be intent upon creating another Communist style form of rule. These comments should not be quickly dismissed. The EU is now preparing to Hoover up poverty stricken nations like Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo and when Gorbachev suggests we should be frightened I believe we should start paying attention and understand that history is repeating itself and this social engineering experiment that is the EU is going to bring us all misery and national unhappiness.

Many of you will read this and think it to be rubbish. You'll say, 'ridiculous. They'd be mad to allow another War to happen'. Well, perhaps your right. But, if you ain't, and they are mad then we are in the eye of a storm. The greatest man made catastrophe since we sat back and allowed the Nazis to gobble up all the living space they wanted together with the freedoms of millions of people.

The advance of the European Union has already resulted in Countries losing their young people, their bright clever and gifted citizens to the lure of the West and the continued movement of people will continue leaving places like Romania and the Ukraine empty economic shells, asset stripped by the madness of the EU.

There will be a price to pay for this foolhardy pursuit of expansion and it'll be met by us and our brothers and sisters within Continental Europe who'll wake up one morning and see that their future, namely the gifted and educated kids have all left to pick bloody fruit and process chicken in Hereford. Then they'll say, 'if only we had been told that this would happen to our homeland. Stripped bare by unelected power hungry idiots who've destroyed us all because they paid no attention to history and the folly of communism and destroying sovereignty.

A 9yr old boy hid in B&Q and waited for staff to lock up the store last night and was there until midnight.
He spent his time rifling through drawers etc looking for money.
Police were alerted when the alarm went off on a fire exit door.
Police looked at the cctv and knew who the lad was.He had been at an activity over at the Leisure Centre.

New Addaction Centre For Hereford.

 

1 in 5 affected by addiction

 

ADDACTION, one of the UK’s leading drug and alcohol treatment charities, is opening its doors to people in Herefordshire on Tuesday (December 1) having been commissioned by Herefordshire Council.

 

The charity has been awarded a £5million contract to provide its services to people across Herefordshire, taking over from DASH. Under the five year contract, Addaction will expand the options open to adults and young people recovering from alcohol and drug issues.

 

The main hub for the service will be at 6 Bridge Street, Hereford, with additional premises opening in the next few weeks at The Old Chapel, Cantaloupe Road, Ross-on-Wye and at Bridge Street Leisure Centre, Leominster.

 

Addaction offers support, advice and treatment for anyone aged 11 and upwards affected by a drug or alcohol issue and their families and carers. People can drop in during opening hours and see a duty worker or be referred by their GP.

 

Implementation manager Claire Morris said:

 

“1 in 5 people are affected by addiction and we’re here to help people understand the issue and find support. The service covers everything from advice for a parent about the new drugs around or, helping someone reduce their alcohol consumption, to supporting an adult to recover from a long-standing addiction.”

As part of the new service, peer support work will be expanded, staff will develop links within the community to offer service users opportunities to build life skills and a comprehensive volunteering programme will be implemented.

 

Addaction has been working hard with the existing providers to make sure there is a smooth transition of staff and resources.

Councillor Tony Johnson, leader of Herefordshire Council, said, “Through the consultation process it has become apparent that residents consider some services to be particularly important to them. We will need to develop strategies in order to maintain these frontline services and look forward to working with communities to develop these strategies.”

 

He added, “We are looking at ways of using possible savings in some areas to reflect the priorities expressed in the consultation

A SINGLE mum has criticised the way new houses have been built at The Oval because of the stress she has faced with issues at her new build home.

 

Kelly Jackson, 25, moved into a home in Vortex Way in Newton Farm last December and rents it from Herefordshire Housing, a not-for-profit group which provides affordable homes for county residents.

 

But she said she has had numerous problems with the house, which have taken months to fix.

 

Miss Jackson, who is a part-time hairdresser, said: "I am more than happy I have a roof over my head and it has a garden- that's great. But all the trouble I have been having has caused me so much stress."

 

She said the garden was on a slope when she moved in and wooden slats, which could easily break, were put around the edge of the grass.

 

A crack which appeared in her upstairs bedroom window took four months to fix, she said, and there was not enough vinyl covering to cover the kitchen floor.

 

Miss Jackson, who is mum to two-year-old son, Reuben, said the finish is substandard with paint left around the house on light fittings and uneven ceiling edges.

 

She said: "They get more than enough rent for this place. Why do I have to pay for all these problems? I have got to work and earn this money.

 

"They are being put up too quickly. You wouldn't get away with it if you were buying it."

 

The Herefordshire Housing Oval Regeneration has involved demolition, new build and refurbishment.

 

Spokesman for the group, Samantha Baker, said: "We have been working closely with Miss Jackson to try to overcome the problems she has faced at her new build property and we have appointed a designated member of the team to help her through this process.

 

"It is common for new build properties to have minor defects, this is due to the component parts within properties settling down, e.g. woodwork, plaster work.

      

"At The Oval, a few minor issues have arisen but we have successfully worked with tenants and our onsite contractor, Keepmoat, to resolve these quickly and to their satisfaction."

 

Since April, 50 properties at The Oval project have become homes to tenants, with one complaint. Ms Baker said through satisfaction surveys, 90 percent of these tenants have been happy with their new homes.
