Charity: The Buchanan Trust ~ The Bosbury Estate.
A National Facility Supporting Britains's Vetrerans.
To help those who have served in the armed forces, enabling them to transition into civilian life by offering short term accommodation, accredited training, skills, work experience and employment opportunities in the rural and construction sectors.
Right now they are halfway through a 22 week aggressive build for much needed veteran's accommodation.
This first stage will provide 4 families new temporary accommodation whilst making the transition into civilian life.
2 are full DDA compliant, 2 more are planned to follow on quickly if they can secure funding to create a 6 unit veteran community in a quiet corner of the Herefordshire countryside.
QuoteThe Buchanan Trust secured funding from Herefordshire Council and Homes England as they are a registered Almshouse provider, offering subsidised housing to our veteran community, the Trust will use it own limited funds to complete this ambitious 1st stage of the build ready for occupation in early spring 2021 and will be supported by another Herefordshire almshouse charity, whilst this community becomes established, looking forward the Trust will need around £400k to undertake the final two units, to complete this much needed and exciting project.
Any donations would be gratefully received and Hereford Voice will do all we can to help promote this fabulous project and organisation.

Man arrested on suspicion of rape
A full and thorough investigation has been launched and a Hereford man arrested on suspicion of rape after an incident in the city yesterday afternoon (Thursday 19 November).
Shortly after 2pm West Mercia Police received a report that a woman in her 20s had been approached by a man in the St James’ Road area and that she had been attacked and sexually assaulted. Officers were quickly in the area, searches were carried out and as part of our enquiries a 32-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of rape. He currently remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Emma Whitworth said:
Quote“An investigation has been launched into this incident and we’re appealing for help from members of the public as our enquiries continue. Additional officers are in the area to both carry out enquiries and offer reassurance. We understand this incident will be concerning to the wider community and we would like to reassure people that our detectives are carrying out a detailed investigation and we have put additional resources in the local area.
“The arrest was made quickly after the reports were made to officers. We’d like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help the victim. She is currently being supported.”

Mouthwash 'can kill virus in lab in 30 seconds'
The preliminary findings, which are yet to be peer reviewed, come ahead of a clinical trial investigating whether over-the-counter mouthwash can reduce the levels of coronavirus in a patient's saliva.
The Cardiff University report said that mouthwashes containing at least 0.07 per cent cetypyridinium chloride (CPC) showed “promising signs” of being able to combat the virus.
“Although this in-vitro study is very encouraging and is a positive step, more clinical research is now clearly needed,” Dr Thomas told the PA news agency, as quoted by the Independent newspaper.
“We need to understand if the effect of over-the-counter mouthwashes on the COVID-19 virus achieved in the laboratory can be reproduced in patients, and we look forward to completing our clinical trial in early 2021.”
Dr Nick Claydon, a specialist periodontologist, said he believed mouthwash can become an important addition to fighting coronavirus along with “handwashing, physical distancing and wearing masks, both now and in the future”.

County Councillors Urge Council Leaders to Ditch Western Bypass in Favour of Eastern River Crossing
County councillors on the scrutiny committee have urged leaders to ditch plans for a bypass west of Hereford in favour of a preferred an eastern river crossing option.
If cabinet agree with this option this could see the construction of an additional river crossing creating an eastern link road connecting Rotherwas with Ledbury Road or Hampton Park Road.
Other options included the idea of a water bus but there was more focus on improving walking and cycling networks, buses and possible 'part-time traffic light system' an idea initiated many years ago and heavily campaigned for by Hereford Voice however, it was clear from the meeting that more consideration should be given to making more use of the river which flows through the heart of Hereford.
Cabinet is expected to debate these options at a meeting scheduled for December.

The Beefy Boys extending their restaurant into the former Frankie & Bennies next door!
A message on their Facebook page reads as follows: 👇
Quote"We are pleased to announce that we will be knocking a hole in our wall and temporarily taking over the former Frankie and Bennies unit next door to The Beefy Boys.
From the start of this pandemic our landlords have gone above and beyond to help us continue trading through what has been an extremely turbulent time for the hospitality industry and especially for a small local independent like us.
Due to social distancing measures on our tables and increasing the size of our kitchen to allow our staff to work 2 meters apart we have seen the indoor capacity of our restaurant reduced from 80 covers to 20.
We were lucky enough to be granted an extended outdoor seating area to help us through this difficult time. which has been great, but with the weather getting colder and the evenings drawing in we knew it would only be a viable alternative for a short period of time.
We approached our landlord with the idea for us to temporarily take over the empty Frankie and Bennies unit next door for the next 12 months, allowing us to safely sit our customers indoors and hopefully giving us the space we need to still trade at our usual level, until (hopefully) the world returns to some form of normalcy next year.
We will be doing a small amount of renovation work on the building and taking the opportunity to relaunch our menu with lots of exciting options on there that we can’t wait for people to try.
Our new space will be open from Thursday the 3rd of December if you would like to book a table for the run up to Christmas follow this link here to our open table https://thebeefyboys.com/contact#bookatable
We would like to thank all of our customers for the huge amount of support they have shown us since everyone's world was turned upside down back in March. We would not be here today if it wasn’t for your constant support
Here's to the next twelve months and let's hope we can all move on to bigger and better things
Much love
The Beefy Boys"
Good luck guys with the new extension! 👍🤞
