Colin James Posted March 29, 2014 Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 I noticed the Police had cordoned off all of the entrances to the subway between Victoria Street and Eign Gate Hereford and also the pavement outside of the Cashino in Eign Gate. So I went along and chatted to one of the Police officers and took these photographs, he clearly could not comment but it was obvious that a serious incident had happened in Eign Gate and forensics (SOCO) where examining for evidence in the underpass. (Rumour) While taking these photographs a member of the public came up and asked the police officer if they had found the gun, the police officer said he could not comment obviously, this lad then went on to say that it was his mother that was attacked and robbed by foreigners... I am hearing rumours that is was actually the Casino that was robbed but I will update you as soon as I receive the official police press release. UPDATE A 26 year old man named as Ionut Juganaru (which sounds Romanian to me)from Ryelands Street Hereford will appear at Hereford Magistrates Court this morning charged with possessing an imitation gun and or air weapon. The raid happened at Cashino Gaming in the Eign Gate area of the city at about 06:00 GMT on Saturday. This is the place to come if you wish to discover what's going on. I mean, if you were the person responsible for this crime and you wanted to know what's going on and were the Police catching up with you, you'd be sure to visit these pages. Thinking about it, if Im right and I think I am , one of these ninety seven, ninety eight if you include me, did it and as I tap away he or she is reading this. I say to this person, who's clearly done it and they think they're being bloody clever visiting these pages, Give Yourself Up instead of allowing suspicion to fall on us, the ninety seven who ain't done a thing wrong. In fact, thinking about it, I'll tell you now. It wasn't bloody me. I was in bed sleeping when all this was going on and I'll maintain my innocence until some conclusive evidence is placed before me that implies, 'you're buggared'! Roger Posted March 29, 2014 Report Share Posted March 29, 2014 I don't know how serious this incident was (or indeed what actually happened) but something happened. Which generated this topic and indeed an item on the Hereford Times website. Seems something nasty happened on the face of it. And it will now be a local concern until fears are put to bed. The WMP website has been silent on the issue. Tweets to the usual accounts have been ignored and the HT has not been kept in the press loop as no update is on there. The very least I would have expected is some sort of reassurance message to have been spread by WMP. Even the generic 'nothing much ever happens around here and this is unusual so don't be alarmed' stuff has not been pinged about. I suppose it is Saturday tho ... But a poor response in my view ... I have said before and guess what I am saying is that I am says it again - it's just a pity that the Civilian Support Staff ( Press Office ) do not do the same. This incident is for what ever reason is in the public domain - the Hereford Times have not stuck their noses into the story so we can only presume that it's a non story and the pedestrians walking down Eign St who had to cock their legs over the barrier to cross the dual carriageway, at their own risk were wasting their time. Was expecting the local Police Inspector in full body armour with 6 radios hanging from the convient clips to say ,do not worry , this is an isolated incident, the beggar who frequents the tunnel will be there again with his imposing poise . Part of the pedestrianised area was closed off yesterday morning, as was the subway running below Victoria Street. Police, through the Southside Cops Twitter account, announced today that "one male" had been arrested. Officers said the arrest was related to a CID investigation at "a casino". Police tape yesterday surrounded the Cashino Gaming store in Eign Gate. Cashino Gaming, on its website, describes its business as a new name on the high street that represents the very best in the adult gaming centre market. You have to walk along Victoria Street towards St Nicholas church, and use that subway! The other option of using the subway by the cattle market has disappeared...along with the pavement to reach it! It is, actually, very inconvenient when you can't use this subway. Personally, I'd just run across the road, but I was thinking about those slow old hunched over old people. I agree, there are times when subways, paths, streets and roads need to be closed. This lad shouldn't be here. He should be back at home with his loved ones trying to generate some wealth for himself and his own country instead of swallowing the false promise that this is the land of hope and dreams. As for his capture, if he has done it, he's clearly not very good at crime. If he had been he wouldn't have been caught by the Police. Mind, by the time this story goes full circle, gets twisted and spun on its head, it'll all be the fault of the Polish people and off we go 'a bloody gain'. More social tension and more muttering over a pint over the madness of the European Union and the uncontrolled movement of millions of people who help drive and fuel our economy that might, one day soon, overtake Germany as the biggest economic power in Europe. Colin James Posted March 31, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Ionut Juganaru, of Ryelands Street, Whitecross, Hereford, is charged with robbing Adam Jones and Janette Bagley of £2,415. The 26-year-old was also charged with being in possession of an imitation firearm at the time of the alleged robbery in Eign Gate on Saturday morning. A third charge alleges that Mr Juganaru was in possession of an air rifle at the time of being arrested. Juganaru did not enter any plea and spoke only to confirm his name and address at Hereford Magistrates Court this morning. He's from one of the bedsit capitals of Hereford so I am assuming he is a fairly new arrival to the City ... The more general point I would wish to make is the people from that area seem to parachute into Hereford having left behind any baggage they may have in the Country they have left. They seem to arrive with absolutely no one knowing what they may, or may not, have been up to before! The general first contact with the cops might be drink related on the streets. Or shop lifting. But the Police Computer does not reach as far as Eastern Europe! So they climb up the local system from a clean slate! This Ionut Juganaru character might be a usually decent guy but he might be some really dodgy guy who originally arrived having left some stuff behind! Who knows? Worcester Crown Court was told two staff feared being shot by Ionut Juganaru who admitted robbery and a firearms charge. Juganaru, 26, of Ryelands Street, Hereford, was jailed for six years. The court heard how a customer slipped away from the early morning hold-up at Cashino, Eign Gate, to call the police. Hooded, with a scarf across his face, Juganaru menaced staff with a “life-like†pistol and forced them to face a wall, said Simon Phillips, prosecuting. Two staff who feared they were going to be shot have been unable to work since,†said Mr Phillips. Juganaru took £2,415 in notes, rejecting the coins, and fled to Victoria Street underpass where he changed clothes. Hunted by armed police, Juganaru was spotted and arrested soon afterwards in the city centre. His pistol was found to be a ball-bearing gun. John Dyer, defending, said the robbery had been “sheer stupidity†by Juganaru, a Romanian national, who was earning up to £400 a week at a plastics factory in Bromyard. Juganaru, said Mr Dyer, had not been able to give an explanation for his action beyond “being tiredâ€. The court was told Juganaru wished to apologise not only to casino staff but to “the United Kingdom†for giving him a chance to work. Hereford Times .
