Biomech Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Having just driven down Edgar Street, around to Commercial Street and back.... Jesus Christ! Have you seen how many more traffic lights there are now? They are all over Edgar Street now, All down Blackfriars and another 2 sets on New Market Street. And you can bloody bet that after sitting on red lights for people to cross, you'll catch the next set at the roundabout - a mere 10 meters in front - just as they fade from green to red and have to sit and wait some more.
twowheelsgood Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Yep, just driven through town and back - couldn't believe it - this council learn nothing. Ever. We are all doomed.
ragwert Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 I'm sure the complete idiots have put traffic lights back on the Widemarsh St jctn.WHY???Lost the bloody plot they have. From Folly Lane to Newmarket St roundabout 9 sets of traffic lights,I'm seeing red....and yellow and green

Your going to give Colin a heart attack with headlines like these lol
Frank Smith Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Your going to give Colin a heart attack with headlines like these lol Hereford has gone mad with all these traffic lights its becoming a complete joke, I have looked at all the video's that have ben put up and it's clear that traffic moves if traffic lights are out of action, I have a horrible feeling that the traffic is going to be worse than ever once the new shopping centre eventually opens.
dippyhippy Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Holy Macaroni Biomech! I can practically see the steam coming out of your ears! I think we should attach you to a blood pressure monitor, and make you drive this route again - then, upon seeing the results, we can officially declare that traffic lights in Hereford can seriously damage your health! If the powers that be refuse to remove them, plan B is to ask Bobby for a few of his diazepam!
Colin James Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 Hereford has gone mad with all these traffic lights its becoming a complete joke, I have looked at all the video's that have ben put up and it's clear that traffic moves if traffic lights are out of action, I have a horrible feeling that the traffic is going to be worse than ever once the new shopping centre eventually opens. Yes this lot will put me over the edge lol
Biomech Posted April 6, 2014 Author Report Posted April 6, 2014 What's the bets that they put lights on that junction modification on Kings/Bridge Street next? lol
twowheelsgood Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 I'm sure the complete idiots have put traffic lights back on the Widemarsh St jctn.WHY??? Lost the bloody plot they have. From Folly Lane to Newmarket St roundabout 9 sets of traffic lights,I'm seeing red....and yellow and green Came up Widemarsh St this afternoon - there don't appear to be any lights when approaching Blueschool St - hope against hope it stays that way, because it works brilliantly. There are lights controlling traffic which will be able to turn right off Blueschool St into Widemarsh St.
Biomech Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 In America, you can turn right on a red light if it's clear. I think this is a good idea. You basically use the traffic light junction as a normal junction, give way and pull out - right only - as you're not crossing lanes. Obviously over here it would have to be left only and you'd have to find some way to let people know that A: they can go if it's clear and B: that they can;t just pull out. People need to know and understand that above all else. Because you just know you'll get idiots thinking they can just pull straight out
twowheelsgood Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 People need to know and understand that above all else. That's where it all falls apart - increasing numbers of drivers neither know, understand or even care anymore - red light running is so common place and there's no way they'd comprehend a change in the law.
Biomech Posted April 9, 2014 Author Report Posted April 9, 2014 I absolutely agree. No one indicates, uses roundabouts properly and certainly in Hereford there has been a big rise in running red lights, Compulsary 5 year retests I say.
ragwert Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 Have been using Edgar Street a lot this week and the lights there are working well for once. With all roadworks due to be completed this weekend and the resurfacing of Victoria Street both ways from roundabout to the bridge overnight Sat/Sunwe will soon see what the traffic will be like.
ragwert Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 I absolutely agree. No one indicates, uses roundabouts properly and certainly in Hereford there has been a big rise in running red lights, Compulsary 5 year retests I say. Nor do they know what a box junction is.
Biomech Posted April 10, 2014 Author Report Posted April 10, 2014 What's the deal with the central reservation on Newmarket Street? I was under the impression that it would all be yellow bricked/slabbed, but only a small part is and the rest is black tarmac, I though maybe that was a foundation but the tarmac comes up to the top of the curbs. Does it sink or get pressed cold? Or did they just run out of yellow bricks
twowheelsgood Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Cheap. The quality materials originally specified such as stone were abandoned because it was claimed they did not wear as well as macadam ...
Jonny Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Lack of creative ideas or forward thinking on the part of highways planners. Just default to traffic lights every time, Its getting serious. People will only come shopping to hereford once, They will never return.
ragwert Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Noticed the tarmac has red stones mixed with tar on the dual carriageway & I'm sure there are some posh looking bike stand/shelters being built by the Cinema
Biomech Posted April 11, 2014 Author Report Posted April 11, 2014 Holy ****, I thought you meant the pavement, I drove down today (4 ******* hours to do 3 jobs in town, getting really ******* sick of it)... and it's the entire road! It seems.... stupid, bright read ffs, why? Do people not know that there's a road there?
M. Preece Posted April 13, 2014 Report Posted April 13, 2014 Too many traffic lights and I can now see exactly what Colin means.
