Which presumably means they are suspected of being highly infectious. I hope with all my heart this isn't what I fear it could be. Frightening times . Public Health England have confirmed that the clinic has been sealed as a patient presented with symptoms that were potentially extremely contagious. They are currently assessing the patient, before transporting them to hospital. They have not stated which hospital, or the potential cause of the contagious risk. My thoughts are with the patient, and my thanks go to the medics and ambulance crews who are dealing with this situation. I don't know how they remain calm, and cope with this sort of thing. Anyone at the moment who is displaying symptons similar to this horrible illness should be treated with extreme caution. Let us hope and pray that it is not Ebola. Going towards Commercial Sq via the ringroad. Must have been the worst case of diarrhoea in history to get that response ... Hereford's walk-in GP Centre at Asda was shut down yesterday afternoon after a patient presented with what is being described as 'potentially contagious symptoms'. The patient was transferred to Hereford County Hospital earlier yesterday evening and is now being treated in line with standard infection control guidelines. A spokesman for Public Health England said: "Ebola is considered very unlikely but testing is being done as a precaution. "Based on the evidence-based risk assessment protocol, we are confident that all appropriate actions are being taken to ensure there is no risk to public health. "It is important to remember that as yet, there has never been a case of Ebola diagnosed in the UK and the infection can only be transmitted through contact with the bodily fluids - such as blood, vomit or faeces - of an infected person. "We have advised all front line medical practitioners dealing with patients to be alert to signs and symptoms of Ebola in those returning from affected areas. Following such advice we would expect to see an increase in testing. "Should there be a positive case in the UK, this information will be made available to the public." " Patient has undergone tests, all appropriate action has been taken and there is no risk to public health. As far as our patients are concerned, its a case of business as usual". As a local councillor I have asked Health England for information about this they have said they will contact me again this afternoon with an update on the situation. I can't imagine them closing the hospital even if someone did have ebola, after all, the hospital is the place everyone goes to to be ill, it's to be expected there.
