greenknight
I am just waiting for someone to actually come out and say that the reason the IOC did not get the most seats was by a Conservative conspiracy including instructing the staff in the polling stations and the counters to fiddle it in favour of the conservatives. The chance of there being tactical placing of candidates by IOC and the Independents is extremely unlikely in my view Both of them need to look at their choice of candidates and their policies. If the public out there, non Hereford Voice users, who may have a more open mind decide they are happier with the Conservatives than the alternatives then something must be wrong with the other parties approach. Time to move on Things will be different next time.
dippyhippy
Whatever our own thoughts/opinions are on these results.....I honestly feel that the folks who post regularly upon these pages, do so because we all love this wonderful county that we live in. No, we don't always necessarily back the same horse... but we do all care deeply. That can only be a good thing.

Ubique
Five people have been arrested during an anti-austerity protest outside Downing Street against the new government. The Women's War Memorial in Whitehall was defaced with graffiti during the unplanned rally, which started outside Conservative campaign headquarters. The crowd, estimated by police at 100 people, then moved on to Downing Street to voice their anger at David Cameron's party, a day after he claimed victory in the General Election. A police officer and a member of police staff have been injured. The officer is being treated for a suspected dislocated shoulder, while the member of staff suffered a cut lip after being struck by an object. Play video "Anti-Austerity Protests In London" Video: Anti-Austerity Protests In London Both are being treated in hospital. Three other officers were assaulted but did not need hospital treatment. No members of the public are believed to have been hurt. A police spokesperson said: "Officers are working to minimise disruption to all road users and members of the public passing through the area." Four of those who have been arrested are being held for a variety of offences under the Public Order Act, the force said. The other has been arrested on suspicion of assault on police. In Cardiff, anti-Tory protesters took part in a rally at the Aneurin Bevan statue in Queen Street. Singer Charlotte Church was among the estimated 200 people to take part. She was pictured with a placard which read: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more." A group calling itself the The People's Assembly Against Austerity claims it is organising another demonstration in the capital on 20 June. She thought I was going to the Barrels but as Peter had been one of the nominations for Jesse, I could not face going there last night. Ok I was tired and full of drink, but am still muttering about it now! She has gone home to thinking I might never get back to be how I was! Spoken to the IOC and have at least expressed my support for help for by-election. If fewer than 30, including posters, come to offer their support for by-election, I guess we have to accept that most people are all gass and no balls. Jimbo
I agree megilleland, there would be seven less conservative councillors if the IOC and the independents had done a deal, this shouldn't be about IOC or the independents policies it's about getting the Torys out, I wonder if a deal could also be struck with the lib dems as well? Target the Torys, only have one person standing against them, target every ward and we just might get our county back and in the process take that smug look off their faces. As you know I stood for IOC and was unsuccessful but my partner did get elected so I'm making bullets for her to fire so to speak, I'm also going to join the executive board of the IOC so I welcome all ideas and help. Chris Chappell
The Independents and IOC owe it to the people of Herefordshire to put aside animosity and when possible support each other in their endeavours. In Europe, where politics is much more serious than UK, political parties get into Blocks and fight the Governing party together. Left wing parties form one block, Right wing parties another, this way you achieve far more than you do fighting each other, and the more experienced and respected politicians from all the parties in a block, lend their weight to achieve the similar aims of their Block. There will be no excuse now if the Independents, IOC, LD's and Green, do not put aside their personal dislikes and together put Herefordshire first. The county must be our Alpha and our Omega, our beginning and our end, our today and tomorrow, we therefore have a duty to challenge the Conservatives where challenge is necessary and where we agree or can make constructive criticism, to do that with dignity and unity. Tracy will make a great councillor and if I or anyone else can offer help, support or advice she knows where we all can be found. 4 years will soon pass. Colin Obviously disappointed but the last 4 years has been a real honour to serve the Community. I will pass my knowledge over too Tracey and will over the next four years work with our new Ward Councillor through the Belmont Rural Parish Council. I know how daunting and demanding this role is and the dedicated time required to fully fulfill this with a full-time job in hand too and of course a family. If it had been Conservative then no chance. Regards Adrian
