Roger Posted June 16, 2015 Report Posted June 16, 2015 Seriously though this whole sorry mess was foreseen but it's happening faster than most countries predicted and the Italians are starting to lose patience with their European neighbours. The UK population went up +300k at the last count (year figure) via legitimate EU travel. Italy has suffered from an influx of boat people from Africa but that figure is far less. I haven't looked up the Italy net population increase over a year period tho. I am first to agree that it is an absolutely dreadful situation that seems to have no obvious end. Quote
Cambo Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 I know this is harsh but I think they should turn them back? because if they are not then they will keep coming? For instance the Royal Navy picked up about a thousand in one day the other week now if they had taken them back to where they embarked from instead of giving them a lift to Italy then it would have sent a message to others not to try & make the hazards sea crossing? I think the answer is sorting out the problem at source although I'm sure that would be no easy task! Quote

bobby47 Posted July 7, 2015 Report Posted July 7, 2015 Isn't it the most wonderful news. The people of Greece, rich in culture and bursting with pride, took to the ballot box and told this unholy European Union and their stupid and unsustainable currency called the bloody Euro, to get stuffed. No! We ain't having it'. I'm bloody delighted and despite the fact we are exposed to a cool billion of Greek debt, I'm rolling around howling with joy at the moon cognisant that the mighty German economy has been suckered into loaning the Greeks forty bloody billion. When this collection of unelected mandarins gave the green light to Greece to 'come on down' and join the Euro, at that time, their economy was generally accepted as being an economic basket case and, after being showered with money from the EU, it's still a basket case and this nation of only eleven million people, slightly more than live in London, they're now buggered by a debt of hundreds of billions that it is impossible to ever, ever, ever, in a billion bloody years, ever be repaid. Hallelujah and God be praised I say. The idea that Greece was ever capable of joining the Euro is now widely accepted as ridiculous and the great big, sweet, juicy thing is, most of the former Soviet states that also joined in with this merry dance with Lucifers economic master plan, well they are in a much worse state than Greece. Yep! Every single one of these nations were running basket case economies before and they still are and just like Greece, they've been showered with money to block pave their streets, lay hundreds of miles of cycle paths and told, 'don't worry that near on twenty one million of your young people have left home and gone to pick fruit, sweep roads and pluck chickens in the West. It'll all work out in your favour because you don't have to look after them, the West will and every month they'll send you back big chunks of Western money that'll make up for the loss of your young, best and brightest people. Fu.king madness! Course, when the United Kingdom stop paying financial credits and benefits to poorly paid people, disallow them from sending home 4.6 billion pounds a year to support 'home', what do you think will happen next? Yep! With a slight grasp on elementary economics and a little imagination you'll conclude that the model of madness that the EU is following will quickly and happily for me, fragment and fall apart throwing everything into disarray. Me? It can't come soon enough. Remember this, if something ain't working and you've done all manner of things to make it work and still it doesn't, then the chances are it'll never work and the economic result is inevitable. The whole thing is a dog! And as for the Germans. I like the Germans. They are truly a remarkable people. But, when it comes to them involving themselves in any grand plan, and my God they've dug themselves and everyone else into this one, they always eventually begin to dominate. They bloody can't help themselves. It's in their nature. They have to impose their will, their vision and their fiscal discipline upon all those around them and consequently history is slowly repeating itself. Course, Angela Merkel ain't quite so buoyant, bouncy and bloody happy nowadays is she? She looks pretty pis.ed off to me and when the German people realise that they ain't ever going to get back their forty billion bloody Euros, she'll quickly find that like Cameron and other political leaders who've sensed that the game is up, she'll be jumping on the bandwagon demanding change. And who can blame anyone for demanding change and a return to sovereignty, national pride and a control of your own destiny. Other than hearing that bloody Jean Claude bloody Junker, Baroness Ashton, Van bloody Rumpey and all the rest of them have all chosen to jump in the bloody Lugg and end it all, I couldn't be bloody happier than I am right now. I throw myself at the feet of the great Greek people and say thank you very much. Quote
megilleland Posted July 8, 2015 Author Report Posted July 8, 2015 Published Jul 08, 2015 UKIP blasts European Parliament for passing TTIP resolution in crucial vote The people interested in protection of the NHS, in consumer rights and a legal system fair to small businesses will be angry with this decision of the European Parliament to pass TTIP", said UKIP trade spokesman William Dartmouth MEP. Speaking outside the chamber of the European Parliament in Strasbourg after MEPs voted overwhelmingly to pass the negotiating position of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership he added, "This is a very damaging vote by MEPs which will hurt free trade and the financial well-being of patients, consumers and workers. "The EU should not manipulate the UK's trade nor, that of any other Member State in order to promote the political pretentions of a wannabe European super state. " UKIP MEP Dartmouth put forward amendments which he said: "require the commission to exclude specifically our British National Health Service from TTIP in its entirety." One such amendment was roundly defeated 142-507. He lambasted the voting record of Labour MEPs over this matter who he claimed consistently voted to undermine "legal protections for the NHS. UKIP stands up for the NHS even as Labour party does not." An amendment was put forward by the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy Group, of which UKIP is part, to prevent the creation of ISDS, a private corporate-led arbitration court which would allow multinationals to sue states if their profits were challenged. Because of what Dartmouth described as "political chicanery and Machiavellian manoeuvring" all amendments to try to stop ISDS were not even allowed to be voted on. The Socialist amendment on ISDS (no 117) was passed by 447 votes to 229. Dartmouth said, "this Socialist Group amendment is basically ISDS-lite which still allows corporate investors to sue states outside normal courts for making democratic decisions. It makes no major difference to the ISDS mechanism at all. I am confident people will not be fooled by it. The final vote on the TTIP resolution was 436 votes in favour, 241 votes opposed with 32 abstentions. South West MEP, William Dartmouth concluded, "the only way that citizens can defeat TTIP now is to vote to leave the European Union. UKIP is the only major party opposed to TTIP and we will continue the good fight, but while members of the EU, it is virtually impossible to prevent such EU legislation being forced upon us against our will." Another reason for coming out. Quote

Already the mood is changing and the government is worried because the polls are telling them that the "leave" vote is growing. So then we talk money and hey presto the government and its main over the pond allies decide.... perhaps it's time to address the issue...we need to just catch up with Putin in Syria and see how we can divide things up. Doesn't it just take you back. Thousands killed ,millions dispossessed and now let's get things sorted. Quote
Roger Posted September 18, 2015 Report Posted September 18, 2015 This vote took place four months ago...would we still have the same outcome?? Germany sent out a 'magnet' style message and so everyone came ~ causing carnage in Eastern Europe as it was the land route to get there. I hear all the 'push' ~ 'pull' arguments but Germany sent out such a 'pull' message that I think it was actually greater than the 'push' of ISIS/ISIL. I think Cameron has got it spot on. Help minimal desperate people that we pick. Don't send out the message that the UK is a sponge. The sponge is actually full. For instance 1300 people class themselves as homeless in Worcester. Quote
Roger Posted September 18, 2015 Report Posted September 18, 2015 Ahead of this Monday’s International Day of Peace, Herefordshire Council’s director for adults and wellbeing, Martin Samuels, said the authority is "co-ordinating a response to support refugees from Syria in a joined-up way". "We are keen to make sure there are suitable provisions made for both the local community and the relocated families, however the government is not currently anticipating the need to accommodate Syrian refugees in people's houses." Martin Samuels is on a different planet with his quotes. HT Quote

Roger Posted October 9, 2015 Report Posted October 9, 2015 A cross-party campaign to take the UK out of the EU has been launched, with one of its key backers saying it can be a "unifying force" for Eurosceptics. Vote Leave is made up of Conservative, Labour and UKIP MPs and donors. It is competing with a rival group, UKIP-backed Leave.EU, to be the official Out campaign in the referendum promised by the end of 2017. There has to be a single coordinated group to maximise effect I think. Whatever concessions Cameron does or doesn't get out of the EU in his highly publicised renegotiations of the rules' I think he'll be in the 'stay' camp when push comes to shove. And that campaign will be well organised for sure. Quote

Roger Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 Ukip oppose EU deal to end mobile roaming charges for British tourists Plans to end mobile roaming charges for holiday makers face being killed by MEPs tomorrow, in what would be a setback for David Cameron’s drive to keep Britain in the European Union. The Prime Minister has held up plans to allow holiday makers to call and use data for the same price anywhere in Europe as a reason to stay in the European Union, saying it is proof that Britain can lobby for change in Brussels. But the plan risks being felled at the final hurdle by Ukip and Green MEPs at a vote in the European Parliament, which is said to be being watched nervously by UK officials. Roger Helmer, a Ukip MEP, has tabled an amendment to kill the package, claiming that eliminating roaming charges will drive up bills overall, penalising those who do not travel. Political football over phone stuff when people are drowning trying to get to Germany .... All a bit crazy! Quote

We are losing so much control in the UK over our destiny and there is not much time to do something about it. Those Belgian Radical killers' could have got into the UK last week if they wanted as we are part of this big EU vision of 'free movement'. They would have suffered the slight inconvenience of having to show their passports as opposed to drifting about unchecked tho I suppose ~ as we are not part of Schengen. megilleland Posted January 20, 2016 Author Report Posted January 20, 2016 No comments since November 2015. However, I sense a panic is approaching as the first "stay in literature" hits the mat. A 4pp newsy piece of print decrying and scaremongering the out camp. It looks to me as if there will be a lot of money spent to convince us that our only hope is to stay in. The first thing to strike me which is very EU is the coupon at the bottom of the paper where they invite you to fill in with your views which states that: "The data you provide will be retained by the Britain Stronger in Europe campaign (the In Campaign Ltd - "the data holders") in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998 and related legislation. By providing your data to us, you are consenting to the data holders making contact with you in the future by telephone, text, email or other means, even though you may be registered with the Telephone Preference Service. Your data will not be sold or given to anyone not connected to the Britain Stronger in Europe Campaign". Some people have already made up their mind where Britain should be and they are not British or European. Goldman Sachs has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to the campaign to keep Britain in the European Union (EU), underscoring City firms' concerns about the implications of 'Brexit'. Sky News can exclusively reveal that Goldman has agreed to give what insiders said was a "substantial six-figure sum" to Britain Stronger in Europe, the group chaired by the former Marks & Spencer boss Lord Rose. bobby47 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 They tell you that they work harder than the indigenous people of Britain. That's what they say. I guess if they say it often enough it'll become an accepted fact that the people of our Country won't ever question. I don't accept this. It's a lie. They say they can work harder, faster, more efficiently and cheaper than us, but, if that is true, and they are remarkably gifted in an ability to work, ask yourselves this one single question. If it is the case that the peoples of the former Soviet Bloc are so gifted in the grafting department, why is it their nations are dreadful places to live, their economies are extremely weak and many of these states are developmentally only a little ahead of many third World countries. Why didn't this great work ethic help their home countries in developing both their economic and social development that may have helped them compete a little easier with the prosperous West. Ask why their own people don't want to live there. Why have they deserted their homelands. I know I'd never abandon my Country for money and yet they do. Near on three million. Two million are economically active. One million are not. Having three million people requires a huge strain upon our public services. There is a price to pay for this vast number of people who, for the most part are in low paid jobs. The state ratepayers are required through an endless list of benefits to subsidise their occupation of our Country making us economically and socially poorer and the rich extremely wealthy without having the bother of providing the housing, the education, the healthcare and a whole raft of services that have created a modern forward thinking society. Surely there's more to a British way of life than being able to work harder, faster and cheaper than everyone else. What of culture. Music. Theatre. Literature and Art. Our tiny nation has gifted the World with so many wonderful social and technological advances to mankind. No nation on the planet comes a close second to us. The Berlin Wall was dismantled over a quarter of a century ago and since then what, of any real significance has emerged from the old Soviet Union. I can think of very little. I've reached a point now where I'm completely at ease stating that I no longer want to share my Country with people who have very little cultural strengths, little creativity and an over reliance on becoming mobile and working faster, harder and cheaper than their competitors. My Country is being slowly asset stripped and I desperately want it to stop before there is little else left that's free of charge. After the two Great Wars, British and British Commonwealth citizens went about rebuilding our shattered nation that paid a heavy price to save Europe. Through their sweat and blood, they created the National Health Service, they built millions of Council Houses, they helped repay our War debt to the Americans, they helped rebuild broken mainland Europe which included Germany and they did it all fir us their descendants. They didn't do these things for the European Union and they certainly didn't build the houses and the NHS so that three million people could migrate to us and take it all fir nothing. And now, when we ask those who take so much from us to show us a little appreciation and understanding, they tease and taunt our Prime Minister suggesting 'we may shift our ground' but we may demand you to deploy your troops on our borders to defend us against Mother Russia. If you love your Country and you really do understand the EU nuts and bolts and you grasp that a radical and modernistic form of new Communism is being created( quote Michael Gorbachev )and expanded to swallow all nations up into a vast super state that places no value on the greatness of being British, you'll vote to leave the EU. If you want the NHS to survive and you fully grasp that spending four billion pounds each year treating EU migrants at Doctor Surgeries, our Hospitals and Dental Surgeries is a recipe for the collapse of the NHS, then please vote to leave mainland Europe to create their chaos alone without our involvement. Remember, all these public services were hard won by our ancestors and just because a citizen of Europe arrives in our Country, pays a few months tax and National Insurance contributions it doesn't make it right or gives them justification in taking straight away. It takes more than a few payments to win this entitlement. It's yours by birthright. Our ancestors bequeathed us this and it's not for us to simply hand it over to those that want to take and are legally able to take simply because an EU directive says 'hand it over. It's not yours anymore, it's ours and we'll tell you what should be done'. Quote
