ragwert Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Anyone who travels up & down Perseverance Road in the last four years will have seen these cones that have made a home next to the 2nd hand car dealers. Why they are there and who puts new ones back in the same place when they get mown down is a complete mystery to me.There are slight depressions around the drains but nothing that warrants traffic cones. Also they have been there for more than four years so if there was a problem around these drains surly it should of been fixed by now. Aylestone Voice Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Perhaps Arthur Daley puts them out so as to stop cars being parked on the road and blocking the view of his goods for sale? Quote
Colin James Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Perhaps Arthur Daley puts them out so as to stop cars being parked on the road and blocking the view of his goods for sale? I drive past here every morning and I think AV could be right... Lets move them and see what happens Quote
ragwert Posted June 7, 2015 Author Report Posted June 7, 2015 Good idea..I'll move em 10 feet further up road and see if they move Quote
Colin James Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Good idea..I'll move em 10 feet further up road and see if they move I would remove them altogether and maybe place them around the back of the trading estate. Quote
Paul Neades Posted June 10, 2015 Report Posted June 10, 2015 I drove by there today and the cones are covering some raised drains where the road has sank around them. Quote
Paul Jones Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 They have been there for more than 4 years! This has nothing to do with the drains this is the car dealer keeping his store window clear. Who is the local councillor? Quote
Colin James Posted June 11, 2015 Report Posted June 11, 2015 I think Paul Jones has a point, I took this tonight, road is uneven but it is like that along most of the length. Quote
Paul Neades Posted June 14, 2015 Report Posted June 14, 2015 Agreed Colin and Paul, I walked along here today on the way to the leisure centre. They do cover the entire length even the uneaten parts so it certainly looks like a shop window exercise. Quote

Who is the local councillor? The cones will assist in dissuading Leisure Centre parkers' who are dodging the newish fees in their car park .... but i think the forum has rapidly worked out why the cones are there .... How do you deal with that? If anything was going to fall in between a crack in the system then it's a privately placed orange cone! Quote

Roger Posted June 15, 2015 Report Posted June 15, 2015 Who is the local Councillor? Cough cough, maybe they could deal with it? Looking at the Ward Map it looks like that this issue is happening on the Widemarsh Ward. Councillor there is Polly Andrews (LibDem). Quote
M. Preece Posted August 15, 2015 Report Posted August 15, 2015 I just came past and these cones are still there and there is no roadworks, obviously the car lot have put them there, thats not right. Quote

Subliminal Parking Control. On a serious note a fair few Council staff will be reading this and someone who could sort this out quite clearly can't be arsed! We would all agree it's not top of the pile for problems but if something has been lingering for months on a Public forum, when it's quite clearly taking the ****, then I would expect a quiet word to have been said. Especially as it's on a Public road ..... Quote

Maybe a letter to could to the HT perhaps may just jolt some action? but as per your quote they are clearly taking the pi*%. Quote
