Ubique Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 From BBC Sports . Hereford racecourse - controversially closed down by owners Arena Racing Company in December 2012 - is to reopen for business in October. Up to four fixtures are to be staged with more in 2017. Hereford was shut in 2012 after 241 years of racing - the first recorded meeting there was in August 1771. However, ARC said at the time the venue was no longer viable, citing the recession and the rise of internet betting on other sports. Quote
Denise Lloyd Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 That is really good news lets hope it happens. I am no racing fan but at least it was something Hereford was known for Quote

DILLIGAF Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 And a cycle track is in talks too. Quote
Roger Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 And a cycle track is in talks too. I actually agree with that. Not a velodrome which needs money to participate in as a competitor. But more mainstream. Quote
DILLIGAF Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Halo have their eyes on it!! :( Quote
H.Wilson Posted February 11, 2016 Report Posted February 11, 2016 A cycle track sounds good but a velodrome would of attracted more people to Hereford. Quote
megilleland Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Here is the link to the original discussion about a Velodrome in Hereford. I think a Velodrome would be a great opportunity and would highlight Hereford as a cycling centre. Without it the cycle track would become just another dog walking area. Quote
