adamski Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 Has this disappeared, or am I just not seeing it? Thought it was an ancient thing, that had to remain in place?
Glenda Powell Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 It should still be there it was outside the old Hardings store that burnt down many years ago.
twowheelsgood Posted February 26, 2016 Report Posted February 26, 2016 It was Goldings when it burnt down. The kettle isn't in this picture, not sure when it was taken. Old Hereford Pics on Facebook has it that it has been sent for cleaning - unlikely methinks. Picture of kettle courtesy of Facebook!
Colin James Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 There actually used to be two kettles as I remember, there was a little kettle on the spout of the larger one but the little one has gone. I also remember reading some online discussion about these kettles but cannot remember what it was about.
DILLIGAF Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 The "other" Kettle is at the aptly named COPPER KETTLE. bottom of aylestone hill.
adamski Posted February 27, 2016 Author Report Posted February 27, 2016 As far as I remember, it was very much a protected relic and was to be kept in place, so where is it now and who's responsible?
Colin James Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 I have just come back from town and yes its gone! Someone must know..
Denise Lloyd Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 First line of contact would be Waterstones I suppose - give it a couple of days and HT will be on the case!!
twowheelsgood Posted February 27, 2016 Report Posted February 27, 2016 The building is still owned by Goldings - it is leased to Waterstones.
adamski Posted September 23, 2018 Author Report Posted September 23, 2018 I see a bright and shiny kettle back in place! 1
