Colin James Posted May 26, 2016 Report Posted May 26, 2016 The road in front of the Oval shops will be closed for 16 weeks from Monday June 6th 2016.
Glenda Powell Posted May 27, 2016 Report Posted May 27, 2016 Having made inquiries at the development site office this morning, I have been advised the road to the front of the oval shops is being closed for extensive works. Although not been advised of this the shops and properties above will be modernised as a part of the Oval development so they could be renewing all the services to the housing properties.
Glenda Powell Posted June 5, 2016 Report Posted June 5, 2016 I have asked if the road leading from the left of the Oval to Goodrich Grove can be re-opened as from Monday, the bus company has also asked for this to happen. this road was supposed to be closed for six weeks that was in 2014, it has been closed ever since. More chaos as if we haven't got enough around the Oval already
DILLIGAF Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 ROAD NOW CLOSED PLEASE USE ALTERNATE ROUTE. BUSINESSES OPEN AS USUAL.
Glenda Powell Posted June 12, 2016 Report Posted June 12, 2016 Which is the alternative route? Kilvert road has a road closed sign, now this one, and the road leading to Goodrich Grove along the Belmont road in front of the flats mentioned in the other post although only supposed to be closed for 12 weeks is still closed two years later. As a pedestrian you take your life in your hands every time you step out of your front door, if you live around the Oval development site.
DILLIGAF Posted June 22, 2016 Report Posted June 22, 2016 Once complete, there will be improved parking facilities and a one way system around the oval and cycling provisions. At the moment it's a nightmare with shopper parking negligently and driver fighting to get through, neither considerate to the other.
Glenda Powell Posted June 25, 2016 Report Posted June 25, 2016 I asked for a one-way system when I was a councillor in 2005, it has only taken 11 years to be considered, wonder who will take credit for its instalation now?
Aylestone Voice Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 But two-way for people on driving lawnmowers no doubt!
Ubique Posted June 26, 2016 Report Posted June 26, 2016 Mrs Ubique received a tele call last Thursday from the Building Contractors at the Oval reporting that they were knocking down buildings or part of a buildings and had found a hedgehog nest complete with mother and 4 hoglets in one of the locations that was due to be demolished . They were given advice on how to safely remove the family and place them with the nest in a box and bring them upto the Rescue - this they did a short time later . It's early days but mother and children appear to be doing well . All thanks to the Contractors who were happy to stop work to rescue this family , They could have easily scooped the nest up and disposed it with the rubble . Colin I know that the post is off topic but felt that the Contractors deserved a bit of publicity for their kindness especially as there has been some awful incidents involving animals this past week locally .
Denise Lloyd Posted June 27, 2016 Report Posted June 27, 2016 Some more hedgehogs saved well done to one and all concerned and well done to Mrs Ubique without her expertise these hedgehogs would be even more in peril.
Colin James Posted July 18, 2016 Author Report Posted July 18, 2016 I took this photo of the improvements over the weekend.
Paul Jones Posted July 18, 2016 Report Posted July 18, 2016 I took this photo of the improvements over the weekend. Oval_4868.jpg Looking quite nice in fairness
DILLIGAF Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 It is now also one way. COUNTERCLOCKWISE Really should have installed oneway spikes in the road to stop the idiots! When school resumes it could prove interesting! No doubt folk will still obscure the entrance, but now it is one way no one should be que jumping in the first place.
