Ridiculous - it's not as though he's suddenly upped and gone (like someone else ...) - they've had ages to advertise for a full time replacement. Looking at the job requirements/description, it's no wonder the Council are in the mess they're in. "Ability to develop long-term relationships and networks external to the Organisation" says it all really.

twowheelsgood
Here you go - this reminds me of the old South Herefordshire District Council days, when it used to regularly appear in Private Eye and was in their top 10 most corrupt Councils in the Country - I believe the going rate for a planning permission at that time was £5k cash in an envelope, tied with binder twine and handed over to the councillor cartel … Oh, and an extremely rare picture of our CE! twowheelsgood
The MJ is a "market leading information, intelligence and news resource for anyone who needs to know about the UK’s local authorities. Our subscribers are chief executives, senior managers, elected officials and private sector executives working for, or with, local authorities throughout the UK." megilleland
Who's Spending Britain's Billions? BBC2 - Sun 23 Oct - 6:00pm-7:00pm Jacques Peretti looks beyond the well-known budgets of schools, hospitals and foreign aid to the range of taxation projects the public know less about. Peretti finds that local councils across the UK are signing contracts with management consultancy firms who can take a percentage of any savings they find. He also reveals that hundreds of the millions of taxpayers' pounds spent on these contracts are covered by confidential deals, meaning very little detail is known about them. In this revealing insight, Peretti asks if the public deserves to know more about how those charged with managing the nation's billions are spending it. Yes it would be nice to know. megilleland
In the September 2016 expenditure note the council are spending £277,649.44 with Matrix SCM Ltd. twowheelsgood
Cllr Johnsons recent statement on the recruitment farce included "The council gets through £1m a day in taxpayers money- we want someone who knows his left from his right to be in charge of that." Not one of those months above gets anywhere near £30m or £31m - Johnson IS actually in charge of that spending, yet he clearly doesn't which way is up let alone his left from his right. Denise Lloyd
Further proof that Johnson does not know his right from wrong left from right upper from downer can be found on my post 108 on HC Farms where in a public meeting he assures tenant farmers that they will not lose their farms but should they decide to dispose of the smallholdings there will be a new landlord
Denise Lloyd
Taken from the MJ Co Uk - hopefully the full article will follow in due course! Chiefs ‘must put pride on line’ to improve accounts closures "By Sam Clayden | 01 November 2016 Council executive teams must be willing to stake their reputation on the early and quality production of accounts, finance experts have warned.A new report by the Chartered Institute for Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) called on executive teams to ‘own’ the process and argued commitment at the ‘highest levels’ of the authority was ‘critical’." twowheelsgood
Total commitment is a given, particularly given the high salaries involved - do we need a self-serving report to state the obvious? Glenda Powell
HC has reduced BBLP budget, I got in touch asking them to cut back some trees and they told me there was no money to cut trees, grass etc. But I did see them 2 weeks ago taking down a lamp standard by the old HHL office at the Oval, the area is all fenced off now, but the loss of the lamp has made it very dark in that area of the Oval
