DILLIGAF Posted December 27, 2017 Report Posted December 27, 2017 After less than a year, the doors have closed - due to unforeseen circumstances....... A big blow for the staff and in general for the city of Hereford. This was much needed and well used by folk far and wide It appears they closed unexpectedly and didn’t pay staff, return any outstanding membership fees and Christmas vouchers. No contact has be made with either NICK HAMES or his missus - both co-owners. No further information.
Colin James Posted December 28, 2017 Report Posted December 28, 2017 (I have added a photograph to your post mate) Yes, unsure what has really happened here but we ran an article on Facebook today. Sudden closure of popular climbing centre. 'The Send Climbing Centre' is closed. The county’s only indoor climbing centre – opened in February of this year in a disused warehouse on the Rotherwas industrial estate Hereford. The sudden closure appears to have come as a complete shock to the staff who were only told that the site was closing last week after just nine months in business. We have made attempts t contract the owners without a response. There has been no statement from the company at this time There is a note on their website that says:"Due to unforseen circumstances we’ve been unable to open the centre. We’ll keep customers updated on developments in the near future." *** Memberships and gift vouchers were sold so some people will be out of pocket however, although this is a different type of venue we understand that Play Planet Hereford have pledged this very generous and kind offer "We would like to offer 2 free entry vouchers to anyone that has been given or purchased vouchers/membership at "The Send" , contact us directly for more details" ***
DILLIGAF Posted December 31, 2017 Author Report Posted December 31, 2017 I have heard today that the place was stripped out inside as much as possible, late Christmas Eve by the owners. No chance of it being reopened then!

DILLIGAF Posted January 4, 2018 Author Report Posted January 4, 2018 The Warehouse Climbing Centre at Gloucester Docks has offered some assistance to those who are genuinely out of pocket by the closure of The Send Hereford. Please contact the General Manager directly via email gm@the-warehouse.co.uk , with your case details. They will then advise you further. Hope this helps out a few.

DILLIGAF Posted January 18, 2018 Author Report Posted January 18, 2018 I can confirm that this place has been taken over by Mr Stephen Ray Director of White Spider Climbing company based in Surrey. Trading under the new name of Green Spider Climbing, they aim to reopen the centre within the next few weeks, with improved features. Mr Ray has also said that Green Spider will honour all existing vouchers and membership previously bought from The Send, once they open. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=108223226655385&id=107596333384741&locale2=en_GB&__tn__=%2As%2AsH-R
