A planning application was submitted to advertise a Fish & Chip shop on a 'banner advertisement' to be positioned under a street sign located on the corner off, Springfield Road and the C1131 Withies Road, Withington, Hereford,

The advertising banner would have been placed on a privately owned boundary wall on the entrance house of Springfield Road.

Reason for refusal:

Quote

It is considered that the advance warning advertisement sign is detrimental to the visual amenity of the street.

Were the planning dept right to refuse?

Having said I am often appalled by the amount of advertising banners or whatever they are called that are adorning the big white house on the right hand side(as in entering Hereford) of the Tesco roundabout  Belmont Road - A465.  I do not know if they are still there have not sat opposite the house queuing to get into Hereford of late
