Glenda Powell Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I have just come back from the Information Centre to pick up a copy of the Journal, only to be shown a letter from the Journal office stating as from next week the Hereford Journal is no longer FREE, there will be a cost of 45p per copy to members of the public, this will come into effect next week. They are also looking for new outlets for the journal to be picked up from. Quote
Frank Smith Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I guess that is the end of the journal then as it is certainly not worth 45p Quote
Glenda Powell Posted February 1, 2012 Author Report Posted February 1, 2012 I guess that is the end of the journal then as it is certainly not worth 45p Frank - I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. it is a pity because it was a good paper when it started. Quote
lpusseycat Posted February 1, 2012 Report Posted February 1, 2012 I guess that is the end of the journal then as it is certainly not worth 45p We have not had the journal delivered for months, when I inquired about it they said they had stopped deliverys to certain areas. They must be sort of money to stop it all together. H.Wilson Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 They are in dreamland if they think it is worth 45p, looks like the end is near for the journal. Quote
K.Butt Posted February 2, 2012 Report Posted February 2, 2012 They are in dreamland if they think it is worth 45p, looks like the end is near for the journal. Yep, this will kill it for sure, surprised to think they perceive it has that value... Quote

Adrian Bridges Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 My daughter and her friend deliver this and they have not been advised there is to be a charge, as then they would not be delivering the paper. I have sent and email to the Journal to seek clairifcation on this Thank you Quote
Colin James Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 This never came to anything then... Quote
Biomech Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 heh, thanks for the bump Colin. I don't by papers, but if I did, I'd pay 45p for it, I find it far superior than the trash that the HT put out. The HT that's what, £1.40 now? and 90% housing and car adverts.I find the advertising rates at the HJ much better and the staff more pleasant to speak with. How about the old admag, everytime it appears on my floor, with it's 5 pages or so, I always wonder what it is :P Quote
Ubique Posted September 1, 2013 Report Posted September 1, 2013 Living out in the sticks this paper has not been free for a number of months - if it's purchased from our local village shop it costs 50p. I think also that its 50p from a supermarket in town. Quote
Glenda Powell Posted September 1, 2013 Author Report Posted September 1, 2013 I class myself as fortunate, other than when they first said it would be 45p it disappeared for three months, then one Thursday evening it was put through my letterbox, and has been delivered ever since free of charge. I must agree the Journal is far superior to HT and if you want something put into the Journal it is printed. Quote
