megilleland Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Amey need to sort out the drainage on Great Western Way just past Barton Road bridge on the left hand bend. The drain under the mud is completely blocked and the last lot of rain completely blocked the path and people had great difficulty in passing this point for a couple of days.
Colin James Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 This is a separate topic to Amey works at Belmont, so I have made it it's own.
Glenda Powell Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 megilleland, you need to get in touch with the councillors for St. Nicholas ward for this, it is out of the remit of South Wye. The GWW for Belmont ward ends at the Hunderton Bridge. It is councillor Michaels ward, you can catch her in the evenings as she works during the day.
megilleland Posted August 12, 2013 Author Report Posted August 12, 2013 It's in the remit of Herefordshire Council. All I need is a phone number of who to contact. The present council website is a waste of time. I hope Balfour Beatty has more interest in our surroundings.

Glenda Powell Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 The man you want is Clive Hall Highways, phone 01432 260786, or cwhall@herefordshire.gov.uk who will possibly put you onto the ward councillor Cllr Michaels.
twowheelsgood Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 It’s a disgrace that individuals have to spend time and resources continually logging what are routine maintenance items, only for the best part for them to be ignored. Its clear to me that all pretence of routine maintenance was abandoned under Amey. Blocked gullies are just one item - simple to keep clear, but, left blocked, standing water erodes kerbs, freezes, breaks up the road surface and a £100 job becomes a £1000 or £10000 job. I see it all over the county when I'm out cycling. I've logged dozens and dozens of blocked gullies - not a single one cleared. A 100m stretch of the Worcester road is now completely breaking up as a direct result of blocked gullies. Council Officers controlling Amey are simply failing to do their job. Why won't Councillors bring them to account?
megilleland Posted October 4, 2013 Author Report Posted October 4, 2013 Cycled down Great Western Way today - the problem still hasn't been dealt with.
twowheelsgood Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Disgraceful - not much of an encouragement to walk and cycle is it? There are blocked gullies everywhere you look - its been out of sight, just take the money for Amey through the summer period and now they're gone with, no doubt, all records of complaints binned. Whenever I ask what are councillors doing to bring their contractors to book I get no reply.
Glenda Powell Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Although this part of the GWW is out of my ward I will pass the state of the drains on to Balfour Beatty, I have the same outside my home, I have had the drains and gullies cleared at least six times but every time it rains the flooding happens again!
