Old Market Hereford
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
I completely agree and a footbridge/tube would have had NO EFFECT on the traffic below either, so win win. I am going to Bristol Cabot Circus later today so will try and get some shots of how a proper shopping centre integrates with the older original shopping centre works!- 185 replies

So how come John Lewis in Bristol don't mind then? Too many negatives, if they really wanted it to work there would be no obstacles, lets just leave the new shopping centre isolated then and give up.- 185 replies

Phil no lights as far as I am concerned is at the top of the agenda with our group, we have incorporated the shared space idea along with it but for me the traffic lights off is still my personal goal, make no mistake my friend.

Old Market Hereford

It works in Bristol. It will work if they want it to work or would you prefer disabled or mums with buggies/prams crossing the main ring road as it stands ?- 185 replies

I am with you Martin and I am sure you have seen our campaign Hereford Reunited No Lights Equal Rights but still think a footbridge would also help.- 185 replies

I have had a re-think about this footbridge idea and I still think they could of built some sort of enclosed footbridge, okay maybe not into Maylord Orchards from the multi storey maybe that was a bit ambitious but certainly over the main road somewhere towards Tesco, there is land for sale at the back of Saxty's or at least there was near the bowling green, that would of at least connected the two shopping centre's, I do not think that the cost would of been massive and as for the Hereford City Wall and English Heritage never allowing it, I do not think they would of objected too much because they allowed this little lot. We no longer have subways to go underneath the ring road and at least this would prevent the traffic having to STOP like it does now with this use of pedestrian traffic lights, keeping the city connected and traffic flowing- 185 replies

Cough cough, Phil we have actually started a group a week or so ago 'Hereford Reunited' - No Lights Equal Rights see this post here and yes we would love you to join our cause. I have been campaigning for years now Phil to get a trial on 'lights out' in Hereford and we have now formed our group and are stepping up the campaign. Have a read through the various discussions within the link I have provided and you will see that it makes good sense and has to be worth trying.

I am definitely on the same page as you bobby and believe it or not but so is my gf. Your reply is a spot on in fairness to you, thank you for taking the time to put it into words because that is very difficult sometimes.

Well done, good news by the sound of it.

Hereford Voice Bloggers Bash *** TONIGHT*** Sat Feb 1st
Colin James replied to Jim Kenyon's topic in Open Forum
I will ask him via pm ha ha -
Well to be fair my gf is Polish and she has lived in the UK for over eight year and has ALWAYS worked and paid her taxes, she certainly does not send money home, I don't think you could afford too. She has never claimed benefit's either, not sure she could to be honest. I appreciate what you are saying about a lot of people living in one house, we have Romanians living next door and there seem to be 2 couples living there but it is a 4 bed house, only problems I have are the amount of cars parked and visiting. My gf has a Polish friend who rents out rooms to about 4 single people and she has to have special insurance and all the landlord facilities in place but to be honest this is no different to the landlord who has an 8 bed house in Whitecross that he has turned into bedsits. All the Polish people that I know have jobs and before anyone rants on about "they have taken our jobs"! These jobs were ALWAYS there! Half the long term lazy sods in this country simply did not want them! The other thing that annoy's me is that people often assume that if a person is East European then they must be Polish, which most of the time they are usually Romanian, Lithuanian, Portuguese or Russian. I work in security and in my experience if a nightclub holds 2000 people, once we hit that number we tell people we are full, which unfortunately the UK government have yet to work out! We need to start saying no more we are full! So if 10 families leave another 10 can enter the country. If you think that it's bad now wait until the New Year when all the gypsies arrive!

Please note that the the very first topic (Start New Topic) that you create is what appears on the 'Front Page'(portal), so a reasonably detailed topic with a sensible sized photo (approx. 640x480) is acceptable. If you have for example 3 photo's, select the one that you want to appear and upload it then click Add To Post and it will appear wherever you decide and also will be appear on the 'Front Page' (portal), then for the other 2 photo's you can still upload them but do not click Add To Post, as they will still appear but not on the 'Front Page' (portal) part. If the post that you want to make is big or has a huge amount of text, then please post the main part as a topic and once post appears, click reply and add the remainder of the post as a reply to your first one, at least that way you will not dominate the 'Front Page' (portal) with a endless load of text. You can also add a file in the same way as you would add a photograph. I have created a complete tutorial on how exactly to create a topic with or without photo's or files in more detail HERE which also explains about TAGS and how they work. So I thought I would take you all under my wing like this. I can make this little Twitter bird appear anywhere on here by just moving the code to where I want it to appear as you can see. I have also created another tutorial on how to link to external websites HERE. There are lots of things you can do when post like make the text appear in a different font and size or bold like this and you can also add some colour like this nice colour Blue. How about I underline this and make it italic You can centre your text to stand out Add bullets or numbers on the left for lists like this Or show crossed out text like this There are many functions available in order to get your message across in a better way but please remember: TYPING IN CAPITOL LETTERS ONLINE IS CLASSED AS SHOUTING. I hope this little tutorial helps because do not want to start limiting the amount of characters allowed. If you need ANY help on ANYTHING please just ask in this topic and I will try to guide you. It is not as difficult as some may think.

This was the traffic at the A465 Tesco roundabout at 0720 this morning. Photo's 2 and 3 show an ambulance struggling to negotiate the traffic. Is anybody listening yet?

Sorry, I was a little quick off the mark, we are almost decided on this name but we are leaving it open just a little longer before we make a final decision and it's official. May have the name Hereford in it?
