  1. I can't remember when I last saw a road sweeper, but yes the litter in Hereford as a whole has not been good for a long time. The other thing which annoys me is when the bin men come to collect the weekly rubbish, if a cat has broke open a bag and rubbish spills onto the road, they only ever take the bags, the never bother to pick up any rubbish that has fell out of the bags. Quite often after the bin men have been, you will see paper, tea bags and empty cartons on the road side, which defeats the object really.
  2. Thank you
  3. THE owners of Hereford's Belmont Golf Club will be launching a drive for a new, separate clubhouse. Golf Inns Limited's managing director, David Milton, is re-focusing on running and developing the existing golf and hotel business. Milton believes a new clubhouse, for which they will be applying for planning permission, would help secure golf in Belmont” independent of Belmont House. A new clubhouse will free up the house for development without the complication of the existing clubhouse operation, said Milton. He said the sale of Belmont, agreed back in December 2009, had not happened and it had led to uncertainty for the club and their members. Milton said: Further uncertainty is not in anyone's interest, so Golf Inns Ltd will instead now concentrate and re-focus on running and developing the existing golf and hotel business at Belmont. “In the short term, we will be moving forward with a number of improvements and investments which have been on hold for some time, including exciting new initiatives for golf at Belmont and phased improvements to both the course and the Lodge Hotel. He added: "With the uncertainty behind us, a clear strategy identified” including a commitment to golf members remaining at the heart of the business” and with a whole host of new initiatives and a programme of further investment already underway, this promises to be a very exciting time for all involved at Belmont. General manager Mark Suddes will be staying at the club to oversee the programme.
  4. Furthermore, don't really understand a few things here, the BR website has this image on it's front page, nothing wrong with it of course, but that's my point! there is nothing wrong with it!! just a happy festive picture. This was never a problem when I was at school, and yes there were at risk children and paedophiles around then too. I would like to hear from the local parish council to what there official guides are nevertheless, seems they must agree from the above image and if that is this case then great!
  5. Another good point Phil. I am totally behind protecting kids but this non existent law is really stupid.
  6. A few more;
  7. Here are just a few of the comments left on the petition site;
  8. "Stand ready to challenge any schools or councils that say 'bah, humbug' to a bit of festive fun." I didn't write the above headline, it was said by the UK government's Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham. The full quote is: "Armed with our guidance, parents should feel free to snap away this Christmas and stand ready to challenge any schools or councils that say 'bah, humbug' to a bit of festive fun." It remains to be seen whether or not this official response will finally end the annual spate of incidents where frustrated parents are bullied into not recording their children performing in school plays by condescending school staff. Data Protection Act The reasons given by a very small number of schools for banning photography and video recording by parents at school performances have varied, but Commissioner Graham was responding specifically to the excuse that schools were taking action to avoid breaching the Data Protection Act, for which Graham is the official watchdog. A number of schools had argued that as adopted and fostered children were in their care during school time, that they risked breaching the Data Protection Act by permitting parents from photographing their own children at school. Commissioner Graham has unequivocally stated that schools do not risk breaching the Data Protection Act in this way. He said: "Having a child perform at a school play or a festive concert is a very proud moment for parents and is understandably a memory that many want to capture on camera. It is disappointing to hear that the myth that such photos are forbidden by the Data Protection Act still prevails in some schools." Common sense He added: "A common sense approach is needed. Clearly, photographs simply taken for a family album are exempt from data protection laws." Threat of arrest Most of us may wonder what all the fuss is about as we have not experienced such narrow-minded impositions at the schools of our own children. But only recently news emerged of a parent who, in 2007, was threatened with arrest by police as he arrived at his daughter's school if he proceeded to break the school's ban on photography at a nativity play. The same school in Leicestershire still has the ban in place, although photographs can be taken after the performance is completed. The school's head defended the ban, which was brought in at the request of some parents who didn't want their children photographed, and claimed that it accommodated both these parents and those who did want to take photos. The question has to be asked, if you don't want your children photographed at events like this, why? Indeed, why allow your children to be seen be other parents full stop? Copyright A few years ago there was a suggestion that video recording and still photography would be banned during a play being performed at the primary school our children attended. It was only a concern about copyright because the school had licensed a commercially supplied play. But by seeking clarification from the publishers of the play it was clear that photographs or recording made for personal, non-commercial, viewing, did not constitute a breach of copyright. Official school guidance is that photography during school plays should be permitted. If there are genuine concerns from parents about the security of their children in the face of an audience of parents snapping their own kids during the Christmas nativity play, then it's that problem that needs to be addressed. Banning cameras is certainly not the answer, and it looks like that's now official.
  9. We should be allowed to photograph & video our kids during school plays and sports events etc...Without the fear of being stigmatized as some sort of pedophile! If you agree with This Topic Please be kind enough to support our campaign and sign the petition HERE
  10. I have created a "read only" forum with all the old topics and posts which are now obsolete. This forum will store old archived threads for reference only, you will not be able to start any new topics or reply within this forum.
  11. What is happening about a new youth centre for Newton Farm? there was some talk of the former vortex site, but not heard anything since? Can anyone give us an update?
  12. Every time I want to film or photograph my kids, whether its at the school athletics or if they are performing on a stage your told you cant! why not?? It's not like there are other kids walking around in skimpy swimming costumes or naked, it's pathetic! We will have no memories of our children when they get older. I think that we should challenge all schools and authorities who prevent us recording these precious memories. I am sick and tired of being told, "oh I don't think your allowed to photograph or film here" or "have you got permission?" I feel so strong about this, that I want to start a campaign, looking for some direction and advice on the local councils views on this subject...
  13. They may well of been approved as Frank has stated in his other post that this was taken from the December Parish Meeting minutes.
  14. Litter Littering in a public place is not only unsightly but it is also an offence. If you are caught dropping or leaving litter, you may be issued with a £80.00 Fixed Penalty Notice or prosecuted. This can easily be avoided by using the litter bins provided or taking your rubbish home. It is worth noting that chewing gum and cigarette butts dropped onto the ground are also considered as litter. However, whilst in isolation the size is small and may appear insignificant, the cumulative effect is massive and as such Herefordshire Council takes a robust approach towards such littering. Herefordshire Council works closely with Amey in order to keep Herefordshire clean and tidy. Although not a regular occurrence, if you find a discarded syringe or needle in the community please do not touch it. Simply contact us immediately and let us know the location of the item so we can arrange for it to be quickly collected and removed. However, if you find a syringe, needle or drug paraphernalia within the grounds of an educational institution, please report it immediately to staff on the premises who are trained to deal with such matters. If you identify an area where litter has accumulated and is causing concern you can report it to Herefordshire Council by calling 01432 261761 or E-Mailing info@herefordshire.gov.uk. Alternatively you can contact Amey Streetscene directly on 01432 261800 or streets@herefordshire.gov.uk. You can also report sightings of large pot holes, due the the severe cold weather recently to StreetScene.
  15. Yes, this is frustrating as I have a L200 light commercial vehicle, so if I miss the bin men then I hgave to wait another week as they always try to charge trade waste if I go down Rotherwas in my truck, even though it's only household waste.
  16. This is the main bus route into Belmont Abbotsmead Road taken at 12noon today. This is the junction of Whitefriars Road This is Sydwall Road leading into Glastonbury Close This is Glastonbury Close, which is on a slope and as you can imagine it's like a sheet of glass. I have also driven around the estate and it's the same story all over, including all the main bus routes. The same in Dorchester Way, Waterfield Road and Brampton Road, Newton Farm.
  17. Has any of this work been carried out yet?
  18. GP Walk in Centre celebrates 1st Anniversary 14 December 2010 NHS Herefordshire and Primecare UK have cut the cake today to celebrate the success of Hereford's GP Access Centre, as it approaches its first birthday. Since the centre opened at the ASDA site in Hereford 12 months ago, it has gone from strength to strength and now has around 500 visitors a week. Visitors attend the centre for a number of ailments including minor injuries.
  19. Well as you are fully aware I made this request as far back as May 2008, so it's taken over two years for them to come back with just red tape!! I bet none of these people live in the area, so they would not appreciate the problems we face EVERYDAY! I suppose that KEEP CLEAR written on the road serves the same purpose, so maybe we she opt for that to achieve some conclusion and closure on this matter, otherwise we will end up will nothing. Thank you for the update and I await to see how long this now takes in anticipation...
  20. Just to clarify a few things for our members, we welcome both factual news and your personal opinions on all posts, as this is a "FORUM" :Winking_32: (— n , pl -rums , -ra 1. a meeting or assembly for the open discussion of subjects of public interest 2. a medium for open discussion, such as a magazine 3. a public meeting place for open discussion) While I appreciate that not everything posted within these forums may not always be 100% accurate, I am sure our members do their very best to be as informative and as accurate as they can. In the case of possible inaccurate news being published, we can only rely on our councillors and the parish clerk to point out any errors in news items. However, that said, I still believe that it is unfair to just totally rely on one councillor, only to attack her if something is written wrong. I am very disappointed that some of the other councillors are not supporting you all here even though they have all been personally invited, therefore, I can only assume that they are so paranoid about getting into a live debate that they choose to abstain from dialogue to save any embarrassment to themselves? Why else would you not support the people that have supported and voted for you? I am also fully aware that even though they do not register, they do check this site daily, which is quite amusing. I will also reiterate that WE DO NOT EDIT TOPICS OR POSTS TO SUIT OURSELVES, we allow live and honest open debates, because to me, that's what a real forum is all about. Our members can choose to either use their real names or remain anonymous (using alias/pseudonym) however, we do promote the idea of using your real details, as using an alias often discounts your creditability. "Having your say!"
  21. Of course it will reduce traffic, that's the whole idea with bypasses (traffic bypass the city) hence the word bypass.. Most of the traffic going through Hereford is heading up the A49 to Warrington, everybody who has lived in this city knows that! WE NEED A BYPASS AND YES WE NEED HOUSES!! As for using a bike, I drive all around the UK with my job and I have kids that I need to take here and collect from there, so right now that is not an option for me I'm afraid, now, If i need to go into town and I am on my own, then yes I use my bike, but to be fair that is not very often. 12000 more cars? think you have one too many naught's there
  22. I could not agree more. I have just got home after spending over 90 mins in traffic. One accident on the greyfriars bridge again has brought this city to a complete stand still, of course we need a bypass as this is joke!! The traffic in Hereford today just proves exactly that. :Angry_32:
  23. Good news, look forward to the outcome. :Smile_32:
