ATM Machine In The Old Market?
Colin James replied to H.Wilson's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
This application is very similar to the previous application only now the ATM's would be positioned on the wall facing the car park and Miller and Carter if I my understanding is correct. The previous was on the wall next to the lift but facing down towards Debenhams. This is the latest application location: -

Colin James replied to dippyhippy's topic in Open Forum
Good morning dippy, I must agree with Slim and I have done this in the past and just refused to pay, what can they do, you could stand there are argue for all the customers to witness or just say I am not happy and I am not paying, I am sure they would just prefer you left the restaurant/cafe, but I must add this is only in extreme cases. -

Cafe Bodega I was in town early one morning with my brother a few weeks ago, we usually go to Ascaris for just the best breakfast (although not the cheapest) however, we had parked in King Street and I said come on lets try this Bodega Cafe. We could see a few people inside behind the counter, it was 0850 we tried the door but it was locked, I could see that they were due to open at 0900, it was raining lightly and I could see a chap coming across, I assumed to let us in, he opened the door and just said we are not open yet and then closed it again. My brother and I just looked at each other in disbelief, surely the polite thing would have been to let us in out of the rain and ask us to take a seat explaining that we may have to wait for 10 mins while they get ready, although he didn't appear to be doing a lot. This was the second attempt at using this cafe, the first time I was in town with my gf and we decided that we would treat ourselves to a cooked breakfast, cafe was open, we went in sat down and asked for the menu as we wanted breakfast to be told that breakfast finished at 10.30am, this was at 11.10am, most cafes offer all day breakfast but even those that don't you would think offered breakfast in the morning until 12 noon. So far this has been our experience or lack of experience at Bodega. So we mainly use Ascaris now for light bites. Miller and Carter We were given a gift voucher to use in Miller and Carter and decided one Saturday afternoon to have a meal while at the Old Market. We ordered our food, starters and mains, starters were perfect and everything was great, nice atmosphere and we were just people watching while waiting for our mains. The waitress brought us our food, mine was fine but the mrs had ordered Chicken Schnitzel Served with seasoned fries, mozzarella tomato & basil salad and a garlic mayonnaise mozzarella cheese salad, however, there was no mozzarella anywhere? She called the waitress back to our table and asked where is the mozzarella cheese, the waitress just said you didn't order mozzarella cheese, my mrs explained that it was part of the salad that she had ordered, the waitress still argued that no, we don't offer a dish with mozzarella cheese, its just plain salad, my mrs asked if she could see the menu again, and yes, there it was Chicken Schnitzel with mozzarella cheese salad, the waitress just said, oh okay, I will take it back to the kitchen, she came back a few mins later with almost burned chicken and mozzarella cheese just scattered across the top of the salad. No apology for the error, nothing, that said we have been back since and the food was very good. As a Herefordian, I am disappointed that they do not offer our famous Hereford Beef on their menu's and I have also expressed my disappointment to the management, so lets see if it appears at some point. Strangely enough, I was delighted to see Hereford Beef on the menu when we were in Poland a few weeks ago, so much so, I took this photo. -
Herefordshire Councils ambitious plans for growth are a step closer to delivery with the appointment of Keepmoat Homes Ltd (Keepmoat) as a preferred bidder to become the councils partner developer at cabinet today, Thursday 27 July 2017. Keepmoat, once officially appointed, will contribute to the delivery of 800 homes for Hereford city centre and to the housing targets set for the county, of which a significant number will be enabled by the Hereford Bypass. As a partner developer, Keepmoat will use local labour and the local supply chain, creating jobs, apprenticeships, training and education opportunities in the construction industry. The council has appointed its preferred bidder and reserve bidder after a competitive tender process.

Extra Money Needed To Complete Blueschool House
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
I wrote it and then realised AV had also written a topic, hence my link to his original. -
There is nothing funny about it, I think you may be taking this personally? I cannot be expected to remember my decisions on every single comment made, there are thousands if you care to take a look, if you are at all unsure about anything please always refer to the forum rules for additional guidance.

The Council will seek approval for extra money to complete Blueschool House, they are only a £1million pound short! Yes a £1million pound, so where will they find this extra money? Because apparently we do not have any due to cut backs, not even enough money to kill the cities weeds. Cllr Chris Chappell advises us all to stop moaning and remove them ourselves! See Aylestone Voice original topic here According to the Council website Herefordshire Council will achieve a saving of over £1million over the next ten years by investing in Blueschool House, receiving rental income from DWP and saving on property costs for Franklin House. They will spend this now on the overspend, great savings eh! It was published on the Council website at the end of July that Blueschool House will open on schedule in September

I have to agree with the man

Link is very slow or dead

Listen, this is NOT the HT, people are entitled to their opinions and although some opinions are not always acceptable to some, quite often they are typed and said either out of frustration or done on the spur of the moment. Just because I choose not to remove it does not mean I agree, and just to clarify in this instance I do NOT agree with what this member wrote. So do you think I should remove everything that I didn't agree with? Move on...

Grenfell Tower has nothing to do with this particular thread, I seem to recall that has been discussed previously.....I have no wish to repeat that discussion again in this thread. Tasered and dragged off into the night? Where did that come from? The lady has now been removed from this dangerous location that she chose to set up camp on and unless we can get back to the original debate I will close this topic as we are entering into other topics which are moving away from the original.

Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Dippy, just a quick update, I have had a longer discussion with my good lady and amended her views in my previous response. I get the impression that the government are trying to get rid of corruption, the judges should follow the same law as everyone else but to be honest we are not really up to speed with it all just yet however, these reforms were in the governments manifesto so this has not come unexpected. -

We Need Better Lane Guidance On Hereford Roundabout
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
But in my experience, the people who use the 4th lane are often just trying to beat the traffic, I would be sat in the 3rd lane and someone comes past me at speed then wants to cut back across into my lane, it appears like they are cutting you up, which is actually what they are doing. This feels even worse if you are driving from Edgar St and you are in the right hand lane (not the filter lane for Whitecross Rd) wanting to come south of the river and someone coming from the Whitecross Rd side is directing their car into your lane. I was always taught to STAY IN LANE going around roundabouts and ring roads, it is not difficult. I saw someone only this morning bombing along the 4th lane (they had just left Whirecross Rd) cut into the 3rd lane to then go all the way across the other 2 lanes and drive into Tesco. This is a terribly designed junction to be fair but when drivers can't stay in lane it is much much worse.- 28 replies

Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?

We are slightly moving away here from the original topic, however, I appreciate that you directed your question at Irena but as my gf is Polish I wanted to give you her view too, hence my response. -
Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
And of course the government know who the fraudulent ones are of course I had a discussion with a friend of mine who is classed as disabled, I asked him why some disabled people have brand new cars and often pay the difference for an even better model, he said oh, you think we should all have special disabled cars with disabled written all over them, so you can stigmatise us, I told him that he is happy to park in a bay with disabled written all over it! I will give you my view on Polands policies which are very popular in Poland. The Polish PM told Angela Merkel that they will not be blackmailed by the EU or forced to take Syrian refugees and to stop trying to distribute her guest around Europe. Look at the state of Germany now!! To be honest, I think every country should have TOTAL control over their own borders and that country decides who enters and who does not. There are no terrorist problems in any of the V4 countries of late, funny that don't you think? In regard to the senate who have just voted to put the supreme court and judicial system under government control, my gf is not 100% sure what it is all about entirely or the full details just yet as she has been working and not really seen much of the news this week, that said, she thinks this is about making judges less untouchable and more accountable, so is probably a good thing. -
Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Hmmm, rattle, pram... I never said Poland was wealthy? It is probably more hot there than the UK during the summer months but the opposite during the winter but last winter was pretty mild. You are spot on the Poland is in fact smack back in the centre or Europe, well at least it is on my map. You made assumptions about my good lady as well as Irena (who I cannot speak for) and my reply was in direct response to your comments, so please do not shy away by attempting to generalise my response. As for the disabled, (other than the obvious) I agree, lets bring them all in and test them, they are quite happy to keep taking the free money, cars and blue badges, so I am sure to keep this gravy train of finance coming in, they won't mind a few stringent tests, after all, if they have nothing to hide then they have nothing to be concerned about either. I also think that we should extend this to include the people who have been claiming unemployment benefits for more than 12 months and do what they do in other countries, offer them 3 jobs and if they refuse all of them stop their money, simples! We are far far to tolerant in the UK and that is why our benefits system is draining us, we need to sharpen our pencils and put all of the falsely claimed money to where it is needed the most! It needs to go to genuine disabled and vulnerable people and not to the ones who make a mockery of the system. You only have to watch the terrible TV programmes like Benefits Britain to get a taste of the amount of money being thrown down the drain. You are all to quick to condemn the government when they have to make tough decisions by making cut backs, well I say lets start weeding out the scammers out there in the first instance. -
Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Bobby, when were you last in Poland, 1980? You have upset my girl now, she is NOT here for the money or because the UK is rich, I can assure you of that! She came here on a 3 month holiday to stay with her friend, that is when we met, that was over 10 years ago, she is only here because of me and would not hesitate to return to Poland at the first opportunity make no mistake about that. To be honest, when she lived in Poland she had a better job and better money than she currently earns here, she is highly educated with several degrees and speaks more than 5 languages, she does not need the UK. -
Thank you for the info, I will try and grab a photograph over the weekend.

Less disabled people in Poland compared to the UK?
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
Correct! The point I was making is about the scammers here in the UK compared to other nations listed in this topic, Spain and Poland and I have spent considerable time in both countries over the past 10 years and I lived in the Canary Islands for over 2 years. You see disabled people but not that many in fairness, I didn't see one mobility scooter for the week I spent in Bielsko-Biała last week, not one! We arrived back in the UK and saw a very overweight person bombing along through high town smoking a cigarette on a mobility scooter within 15 minutes of going into the city centre. I managed to park my car in Broad St, dropped off 2 huge bags of clothes at the charity shop, paid a cheques into the bank and the chap in the queue behind me said his parking was about to run out and he hoped that the cashier would not be long, I explained that my transaction would be quick as I also needed to get back to my car. I left the bank and went back to my car, then I noticed this chap from the bank running to his car which was parked in the disabled bay 2 up from where I was parked, I watched him removed his blue badge and drive off, I have to be honest he didn't look disabled to me, yet my sister has a severely mentally disabled daughter (my niece), she cannot look after herself at all, she knows who we are and calls my name but it is limited however, she in not entitled to a blue badge because she can walk over 100 metres, makes my blood boil! As for the comments about Poland being a poor country, I really suggest that people take a visit there as some seem stuck in this WW11 time-warp vision somehow and probably think it is cold too. Some interesting statistics can be found here My GF sits here in her wooden clogs for slippers and is smiling when she reads some of these comments and just chuckles. -
