Below is a chart of new speeding fines and penalties that have come into effect this month. Although I see the need for people to reduce their speed this again is aimed the working person doing well! This is not a level playing field at all! Example 1: Worker 1 earns 150 per week drives at 75 mph on motorway will be fined £75 Worker 2 earns 400 per week and drives at the exact same speed as worker 1 will be fined £200. Example 2: Worker 1 earns 150 per week drives at 42 mph in a 30mph will be fined £150 Worker 2 earns 400 per week and drives at the exact same speed as worker 1 will be fined £400. How is this fair?

I completely agree, this really annoys me too.

I have split this into a topic of its own, this is a separate debate to that of the Belmont Rd.

I heard today the the Hereford Sony Centre (Hutchinsons) is closing? If this is true it is very sad to hear about the Sony Centre however, I must say that they close on Sundays and every bank holiday (which is fine but not when your clearly struggling) I was only in there last week and I walked in at 5.15 and the first thing the guy said to me was we close in 15 minutes mate and the previous 4 times I have been in the shop nobody could be bothered to serve me, so if this is the way they do business, I can't say I am surprised they are closing...

This is a separate topic to Bill Norman taking redundancy, so I have split this creating a topic of its own. -
ATM Machine In The Old Market?
Colin James replied to H.Wilson's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
I am still quite surprised that there are no ATM's in this shopping centre. -
I see planning permission has been granted with conditions for the operation of a 24/7 gym. Variation of condition 3 ref 163878. Change opening hours to 24 hours for 12 months trial then 7am until 10pm on any day.

This is good news and I wish them the best of luck. What were the original objections from the licensing department?

Debenhams Plans to Axe 50 Branches
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
Well I love the Old Market, and I shop in Debenhams and TK Maxx regular so it will be a sad day if they start closing some of the new stores. Personally, I think the Old Market has brought additional people into the city with all the new shops and restaurants since it opened. -
Another photograph (courtesy of Tracy Bowes) from offices some distance away but will give you an idea of how bad it appears to be. Another photograph

We are hearing reports that there is a massive fire on the Blackpole Trading Estate in Worcester, early reports suggest that the source could be Arrow Excel (delivery company). Let's hope that nobody is hurt.
-
Update 25th October 2018: Debenhams has unveiled plans to axe up to 50 high street shops, putting around 4,000 jobs at risk, as profits plunged at the struggling department store chain. I have just read this article about Debenhams chief executive considering closing 10 of their stores. First of all, let us hope that this does not happen and that nobody looses their job but more importantly how does the Hereford store stack up against the other 176?

They will all still moan, what next, it's not a fair election cause we weren't ready ? Top of the pile
-
For all you lefty tree huggers who were moaning about Teresa Bae not being democratically elected and having no mandate to deliver Brexit, she is now giving the country the opportunity to decide whether she will be democratically elected, so you have what you wanted, so why are some still moaning? Is it because deep down you know that there is no credible opposition?
-
Not seen anyone moaning in this thread only people saying it is a shame however, I think in this instance it is possibly Thorntons fault for supplying the supermarkets, so many of us are still buying Thorntons, just not from their shops.

I have updated your photo (as promised) with one I took earlier. The branch closes April 22nd. If is a shame but if I am totally honest, I cannot remember the last time I was in this store.

Mould Appearing On Walls Of New Flats In Beattie Ave
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in The Oval
I do not want to go off this topic but in my opinion, part of the planning process should be a prediction or forecast on how new builds will look in 10 years (maybe they already do this?) I see lots of fairly new builds on my travels and all look vile after a short time. In London there were some new houses with glass little roofs above the front door, similar to the ones in Conningsby Street, all covered in mould and these below do not look much better.- 10 replies

Mould Appearing On Walls Of New Flats In Beattie Ave
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in The Oval
Well there seems to be a problem with all the joints... All three joints are leaking then. It looks like the seals have gone on these ground floor windows, if not it is a bad case of condensation Some repairs already required I see... I said in this discussion about how rust runs will appear on the walls from this cheap metal window surrounds, have a look at these; Drips are starting to already discolour the window cills where the water drops. The houses opposite are also showing rust runs under the windows, I hate to think how these new builds are all going to look over the next 5 years.- 10 replies
