  1. I have split this into a new topic Denise as it is a planning application and separate from the previous topic.
  2. I agree with some of the things he is implementing and I can see where he is coming from to a degree but he appears like he is going at it like a bull in a china shop. This is only a temporary 90 travel ban, some anti Trump media outlets have hyped this up into something it is not. I will not be signing the petition at this point as I think preventing him coming to the UK on a state visit now he has been invited is likely to cause more damage than good and right now we need the US for trade agreements, we need to look at the bigger picture.
  3. This is great news Adrian and will give the community centre some peace of mind for the next 3 years. Good to see the parish have now got a handy man to do some of the work, good news all around.
  4. Totally separate topic guy's. I have to point this out because it is confusing when searching Google. I am more than happy for you to create a separate topic and feel free to mention or link to this topic but this topic is about vandalism...
  5. Hereford Housing have submitted a planning application to build 77 apartments on the site of the former council offices in Bath Street Hereford. Herefordshire Housing wants to build the one and two bed apartments- 49 would be available for private rent and 28 would be social rent. See complete application here Personally, I think this is a great idea and I hope the bods at the planning office see sense and approve this development.
  6. Plans have now been submitted to convert this former pub into 2 semi detached houses.
  7. I have reported the damaged light so we will see how long this all takes.
  8. Mayor Jim Kenyon has come up with this lovely idea to honour our fallen soldiers. Photo courtesy of BBC Hereford & Worcester
  9. I think you need to do your homework before making such negative outbursts: There have been many activities organised over the last 25 years. Only a few years ago more than 50 German visitors from Hereford’s twin town Dillenburg got a guided tour of the Old Market as part of the celebrations marking the 25-year relationship. See Hereford Times article In Vierzon there is even a pub named after our city La Pub Hereford see this article from 2004. Another trip of 30 people from 2007 article here Herefordshire artist, Ashley Lloyd, awarded Festival Des Arts in Vierzon see this article A SNAPSHOT of Herefordshire life was top of the bill at the Vierzon 59th International Show. Read this article Many lasting friendships in Loire Valley - article here Twins celebrating 10th anniversary article Twin towns meet up article Courageous family will pay tribute to Beren Rowbotham doing their bit for Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) Hereford Times article here and another here Angels clocked up the miles for hospice cash article here Hospice ticket to ride, sponsored ride article for St Michael's Hospice I have only listed a few activities above, so please don't come out with stupid unjustified negative comments like, "Twinning is just an excuse for people to jet off to these places. They do nothing for the majority of people in the city" before doing your research!
  10. A good twinning partnership can bring many benefits to a community and the municipality. By bringing people together from different parts of Europe, it gives an opportunity to share problems, exchange views and understand different viewpoints on any issue where there is a shared interest or concern. It can enable young people to get involved with their counterparts from a different country, and to gain self-confidence. It can help everyone to better understand what Europe is and means in today’s world – and where the future may lead us. There are many examples of good practice in twinning, covering a wide range of issues - art and culture, young people, citizenship, sustainable development, local public services, local economic development, social inclusion, solidarity… It represents a long-term commitment between the partners, not a short-term project partnership. It should always be able to survive changes in political leadership and short-term difficulties of one or other partner, and support each other in times of need, e.g. a major flood. And being a commitment for the long term, it is vital to ensure that the partnership is regularly reviewed, to make sure it meets the needs of the present day, and remains fresh and dynamic.
  11. I often use Ascari's who offer a great breakfast but it is quite expensive compared to other places, such as the Bus Station Cafe, The Regency Cafe and even Wetherspoons! It is good to have a choice of places. I would try the Cafe Bodega in King Street but the last two times I have visited was a waste of time. First time, all lights were on and people inside, it was 0.40am- 9.45am and we wanted breakfast, door was open but the guy inside said we do not open until 10am, there was no offer to come in and wait or anything like that, so we went to Ascari on that day. The next time we visited was at 11.30am and we were told they finish serving breakfast at 11am but they do not open until 10am, so again, we went to Ascari for Breakfast weird opening times and breakfast policy.
  12. You mean this one mate? I took this early this morning
  13. Taken from the Jaworzno local newspaper. Translated into English. Full details from the website here
  14. I almost fractured my foot a few years ago while out jogging, got taken to A & E, waiting room was full, was in a lot of pain so they took me through to see a doctor sooner, then I waited on a bed for about an hour, doctor came and could see my foot and ankle was badly swollen, he send me for an x-ray, that probably took another hour, I then came back to the doctor who said there was a minor break but just put a tight bandage sock on and said to take some pain killers and sent me home. Quite a good service but lots of waiting time, was off work for a few weeks because I could put any pressure on my foot. This was taken at the hospital This photo was taken at home 3 days later
  15. This is bad news, the Matabeau has been in Hereford since I was a kid.
  16. I have merged these two topics together.
  17. Denise, you have posted an open debate in the Open Forum which is correct. I am more than happy to leave the topic in place. HV is mainly about Hereford and Herefordshire however, members are free to debate anything else using the Open Forum, your topic is not the first and I am sure, it will not be the last topic which is not about Hereford.
  18. Mayor of Hereford meets Mayor of Kraków
  19. Let's hope Corbyn does not gain any ground! I predict he will not be leader by this time next year.
  20. It is not far from where my gf is from. As soon as I receive all the details from Jim I will update you all
  21. I agree but unfortunately these will be from two separate budgets. I have not heard back from Cllr Chris Chappell from the pm that I sent to him, so I will send the same message via email.
  22. Our Mayor Jim Kenyon and Cllr's Laura Hall and Kath Hey and the rest of the team have travelled to Poland this week representing Hereford wit the view to to exploring the possibly of twinning Jaworzno in Poland with Hereford. We have a thriving Polish community in Hereford and personally I think this is a great idea and we should embrace it. Good luck with the trip guys and I apologise that I was unable to join you this time. Jim wrote: I will have a full update from Jim when they return.
  23. A piece of fabric described as the Holy Grail of fashion history will become one of the star attractions at Hampton Court Palace after it was identified as the only surviving piece of clothing worn by Elizabeth I. The countrys leading experts on royal garments have spent the past year piecing together clues about the provenance of the beautifully embroidered textile, which had been cut up and used for hundreds of years as an altar cloth in a Herefordshire parish church. They say all the evidence points to it having once been a skirt worn by the Tudor queen, making it the only known survivor of her famously lavish wardrobe. Eleri Lynn, curator of historic dress at Historic Royal Palaces (HRP), first discovered the cloth hanging on a wall in the 13th-century church of St Faith, Bacton, last year. Dress historian Eleri Lynn, left, with the Bacton altar cloth. The pattern is strikingly similar to a bodice worn by the Tudor queen in a portrait, right CREDIT: DAVID ROSE She said:When I saw it for the first time I knew immediately that it was something special. As I examined it, I felt as though I had found the Holy Grail, the Mona Lisa of fashion. None of Elizabeths dresses are known to have survived, but everything we have learnt since then points to it being worn by Elizabeth. The botanical pattern on the cloth bears a striking resemblance to that on a bodice worn by Elizabeth in the so-called Rainbow Portrait of 1602 and Ms Lynn believes it is not inconceivable that the skirt, which cannot be seen in the painting, is part of the same outfit. 24. ha ha Bobby you have just made me pi*% lol
  25. I would much rather a KFC than those vile toilets that have been stood there far too long! However, I suspect a two up two down is more likely.
