  1. Thank you goes to Jess Phillips for running this article in the Hereford Times after my phone call to her at the beginning of the week. I just need to clarify one thing about the National Grid statement, they claim work had been going on until 7pm? Sorry but this is untrue, workforce are usually all gone by 4pm. They have also stated that the cones were used to mark out the area of the island and the temporary traffic lights were moved so that the island could be reinstated. Clearly the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing! As the area where the island is being reinstated is more or less on the junction of Hunderton Avenue, which is where the lights were placed on Monday morning. On Sunday the traffic lights and cones where placed in the road (photo) southbound just after the bridge and just before the turning for the Oval, which you can clearly see in the picture you have used above, there is no island there!
  2. Well, after several conversations with Cllr Tracey Bowes and in turn conversation that she has had with other people finally, the overgrown grass in the field in Sydwall Road was cut today! BB had to use a brush cutter initially to lower the height of the grass as it was way to high for their mower to tackle. It was lovely to see some kids playing football again on here this afternoon. Here are a few photographs that I managed to take while grass was being cut. We do however have large bails of what looks like straw now scattered around the field but hey this is still excellent news. Thank you Cllr Bowes for all your help in getting this grass cut.
  3. Ok so all the traffic queues and traffic lights yesterday, that I said was totally unnecessary, was in fact totally unnecessary! It appears that they had the cones and traffic lights in the wrong place because early this morning they are now on the opposite side of the road 1/4 of a mile down in the other direction. Does anyone here actually know what they are doing other than causing confusion and mayhem? This is where the traffic lights are today, this photograph was taken from the iron bridge of the traffic, which is facing towards the city... This is where the traffic lights were yesterday on the left side facing towards the Oval shops.
  4. Well all last week it was the same people, still does not make sense to me, traffic lights around a few cones, traffic lights are not really required here, people can drive around them quite easily.
  5. This photograph is taken from the bridge looking down the Belmont Road into the City as you can see there are cars turning around as you can see because of the delays.
  6. Last night we had a very brief reprieve from the weeks of road works and traffic queues on the Belmont Road in Hereford. The traffic lights were removed! Today I drove into the city with no traffic whatsoever, traffic lights and roadworks were completely gone however, on my return late this afternoon, I was surprised to be sat in traffic again. Can someone please explain to me why oh why we have traffic lights for a few traffic cones that surround fresh air? If more roadworks are going to be started this week, why could they not just set up the lights and cones at the same time? Do we really need traffic lights on a Sunday? This also came as a surprise because there has been no work carried out on a Sunday since these roadworks began, yet some clown was working today in order to cause this chaos, this is totally unnecessary. On another note, I see that the cyclist thinks that the traffic lights do not apply to him... Just to be clear, these traffic lights are currently facing the Oval shops, there is a zoomed out photo below
  7. I have attended several meetings, what difference does that make? Very little because you have a public participation, usually at the end, to ask any questions or raise concerns but this is at the chairmans discretion and they usually refer your contribution to a later date, this was proved in my request for a simple salt bin back last November and after several meetings it was referred to later this year, so still no decision!

Jim is a top guy without a doubt. Call the South Wye Cops bud and see if they will keep an eye on these kids or better still have a quite word in their ears.
  9. Denise, this is frustrating to say the least! The chairman is Cllr Mark Schoffer
  10. Why is the bank balance of the BRPC showing over £100k? Why is OUR money Not being used within the Belmont Rural Parish? The concentration of effort appears to be limited on or around the Jubilee fields. I requested a Salt Bin back last November for Glastonbury Close and it was refused/deferred now this is something that would cost less than £100 to buy and very little to maintain. I also highlighted the lack of gritting in Belmont way back in 2010 in this topic about No Gritting. We have overgrown tree's and bushes which the council do not have the money to maintain unless it becomes and health and safety issue. Some of these trees are that tall and overgrown they prevent street light for illuminating the footpath below. We also have various public open spaces of long grass which has not be cut or maintained for sometime, Sydwall Road is a good example. The long grass and bushes around the length of the brook could do with being sorted out and the rubbish that is in the brook and causing blockages along the route could also be cleaned up with Parish money which is just sat in the bank account. The BRPC are advertising for a handyman, who could possibly tackle some of these jobs and do this work but from my understanding this position is ONLY for only 5 hours a week! To be totally realistic what is a single person going to be able to do in just 5 hours a week? Why not use some of this money to actually employ someone full time? Pay them a wage! I am sure that there are many other things that this money that the BRPC are reluctant to spend could be used on, after all, it is OUR MONEY! Please add your suggestions and idea's on what this money could be used on within the parish and I will gladly put these idea's forward at a future meeting.
  11. Thank you Tracey for all of the information, I will add this to the community calendar too.
  12. The groundworks for the new Asda garage have begun. The original planning application and discussions you will find here - here and also here Here is the original planning application submitted in January 2012 AppForm 3854-2.pdf
  13. Well this has caused a stir especially on our HV Facebook Page however, since this was posted guess what, huge progress (well at least for the traffic) it seems. I drove straight down into town this morning with hardly any hold ups and a lot of the work appears to now be done.
  14. I see that some motorists on the right are using the footpath to park on already...
  15. Since when have Keepmoat been in a position to dictate who can park on the public highway?
  16. Took this video today at 12.45pm not a workman in sight..
  17. The only respite we seem to enjoy other than when the traffic lights break down and fail on the Belmont Road in Hereford (A465) is when the kids are on holiday from school. Now we do not have just 2-3 weeks of road works we have the WHOLE 6 weeks that the kids are off replaced with an even bigger nightmare for drivers! They did exactly the same in the same location last year. I do not know if this is just me? Every time I have driven and sat in the endless slow queue of traffic on the Belmont Road, I get to the traffic lights expecting to see lots of busy workman trying to complete this work and to be honest, all we see is the exact opposite! The first time we noticed a guy on the digger asleep, yes asleep (maybe he was on his break) and there were 3 other guys chatting. Later the same evening we I returned to Hereford, there was 1 bloke sat with some earphones listening to something connect near the traffic lights but the other men were not to be seen. Yesterday we drove past and saw only 2 guys both were just leaning on a post and chatting, the same again last night. We did not see any work being done over the weekend. Here are just a few random photographs I took this week but I will try and get a few more. I appreciate that this is essential work but surely, they could reduce this work to a couple of weeks if they had a few more men and reducing the length of time required and in turn opening this busy road again. Anyone else noticed this?
  18. Getting back to this particular topic, please sign and share our petition for part time traffic lights in Hereford.
  19. The Old Market is a private complex. Hereford City centre has become very unkept and is in need of a good clean up.
