Authorised Travellers sites public consultation Herefordshire Council has launched a public consultation on potential new sites and site extensions for Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Show People, as part of the preparation of the Herefordshire Local Plan Traveller Site policy. Research carried out to assess current and future accommodation requirements of Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Show People has identified a need for additional authorised and transit pitches. As a result, action is being taken to address the shortfall of available sites for those needing a base in Herefordshire as well as those travelling across the county. Detailed studies have identified the level of need in our district as being 19 permanent pitches, 5 for Travelling Show People and 3 temporary stopping pitches in the first five years of the plan. The locations under consideration, following the call for sites that ran from December 2015 to February 2016, are: Ross on Wye Leominster Lower Bullingham Bromyard Trumpet/Pixley Pembridge Sutton St Nicholas Grafton The establishment of transit pitches will enable the movement of Travellers through the county to be managed more harmoniously, providing greater certainty for Travellers and local residents. The council is still inviting land to be put forward for consideration of possible new sites as further sites will be required for 2020 onwards. The consultation runs from Monday 25 July to Monday 19 September 2016 and can be found at www.herefordshire.gov.uk/traveller-sites-consultation Hard copies can be viewed at information points such as libraries and customer service centres across Herefordshire. Drop in sessions are also being arranged at the following venues: Holmer Parish Church Hall on Monday 5th September from 4-7pm Larruperz Centre, Ross on Wye on Thrusday 8th September 4-7pm Leominster Community Centre TBC

The Police have confirmed they are investigating a report of an assault which happened in the skate park at about 8pm last night. A spokesman said: "A 17-year-old boy was assaulted by a group of other males and suffered a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released." If you are referring to the shop with the open door then that used to be the cold meat shop, the butchers was around the other side where the betting shop is now.

I love this, first day this year of any real heat and we are being given government advice on how to protect ourselves from this unusual summer weather.

Our elite 22nd SAS Regiment is marking it's 75th anniversary this weekend with celebrations at the camp including a flypast and a visit from Prince Harry. Thank you to all the soldiers past and present and here is to the next 75 years!

Anyone remember Wilson's hardware store at the Oval? I have been talking with Mr Wilson's daughter Sarah who kindly allowed me to use these wonderful photographs.

1916 ~ 2016 The Battle of the Somme was fought at such terrible cost that it has come to symbolise the tragic futility of the First World War. Its first day of conflict remains the bloodiest day in the history of the British Army and it was felt deeply at home. Many of the soldiers who had signed up were everyday young men from close-knit communities across the UK who subsequently suffered horrible losses. They were good friends, neighbours and colleagues who signed up together on the promise they would serve alongside eachother. It sounded easy. These patriotic volunteers were sold on the romance of war, “Your Country Needs You”, and became known as the ‘Pals’ battalions. The 100th anniversary provides an opportunity to commemorate the Service and sacrifice of those who lost their lives in the battle, to reflect upon the human cost of conflict and to have hope for a more peaceful world.

This is a sign of weakness and are not the strengths of a good strong leader.

Can we get back to the original topic please folks. I support the idea of a filter light for traffic turning right into St Nicholas St, so many cars coming towards you are obviously jumping the lights preventing traffic from crossing within the limited time they have to cross.

Hereford at a complete gridlock yet again! An accident at the junction between Greyfriars Bridge and St Nicholas St has brought the city to a standstill this afternoon.
