Apparently Graham Powell has resigned from the Cabinet, confirmed by Tony Johnson in letter today. He will still apparently remain as Cllr for his ward, Golden Valley South. David Harlow (Birch Ward) is replacing him. Remember where you heard it first!

Mobile phone users can opt out of nuisance calls by text message for the first time from today. The "text-to-register" service allows members of the public to add their number to the "do not call" database of the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Mobile users can sign up by texting "TPS" followed by their number to 78070. The TPS should send a text reply confirming the number has been added to its database. The service may take 28 days to become fully effective but customers should notice a reduction in unwanted sales and marketing voice calls within days. It is illegal for organisations to make unsolicited calls to numbers registered with the TPS unless they get consent. Communications regulator Ofcom said only 48% of people familiar with the TPS are aware that they can register a mobile number, compared with 88% for landlines - meaning only 2.9 million UK mobiles are registered. John Mitchison, head of the TPS, said: "Rogue callers operate illegally and against the interests of ordinary people. "Texting will make it easier for people to register their mobile numbers on the TPS, which is the only official no-call list, and help us stamp out rogue callers once and for all by giving the Information Commissioner more ammunition to prosecute these cases." Baroness Neville Rolfe, the minister responsible for data protection, said: "Nuisance calls are incredibly intrusive and can cause significant distress, particularly to elderly and vulnerable members of society. "This new service from the TPS and Ofcom will help protect people with mobile phones, making it easier for them to register via text and opt out of the call list." Spam Texts What to do if you get a spam text message: Recent Which? research revealed that only 1 in 10 people are aware that you can report spam texts to your provider using a free text service. Just forward the message to 7726, or 87726 if you’re with Vodafone. Once reported you should get an automated response and some further instructions. Source

Congratulations 635th Mayor of Hereford Cllr Jim Kenyon!
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
Jim can only propose it and keep adding pressure but it will come down to Highways England in the end and unfortunately the people who devise all these wonderful idea's are in Birmingham! Anyway, that is for a separate topic. -
Interesting... I would imagine this would face opposition, especially being on the lights and probably the worse junction in Hereford. Ross Rd side would have more chance in my view so lets see what happens here.

A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Hereford. Thomas Newman, 20, of Cusop Close, Hereford, did not indicate or enter a plea when he appeared at Hereford Magistrates Court this morning. He has also been charged with two counts of threatening a person with an offensive weapon.

Well I predict the UK will win the 'Eurovision Song Contest' because they want to keep us in Europe and it's always been fixed in my view, voting has not started yet so lets see how we do...

You may have noticed the scaffolding has gone back up on the recently completed apartments in Beattie Avenue. I have been informed that there were problems with the installation of the roof and as a result a whole new roof replacement is now required, worrying to say the least.

Best Site For Tourist Information Centre
Colin James replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford City
I tend to agree, nothing better than speaking to a real person with local knowledge. Not sure if this particular building is the best option but an office somewhere central would be good. -
Ukraine have never been friends of Poland! They were worse than Germans murdering Polish people, I think you need to catch up on your history Bob, you couldn't be further from the truth! First cousins for Poland are Czech and Hungary who share the same values and culture.

Hang on a second, Poland have taken in over 1 million migrants from the Ukraine since the conflict or maybe you missed that?

I see that the garages that I previously photographed above have at least now been boarded up, this is a result of me highlighting this issue with HH however, I am surprised that HH chose to board them up rather than replace the broken doors with new making it all in keeping with the rest, boards to me only encourage graffiti and vandalism. Maybe they have ordered new doors..
