  1. I have merged these two topics. In answer to your question Paul, September is the date for the installation of a CCTV camera.
  2. This is a really lovely story that I have just read in the HT and thought I would add it to our forums for discussion. photo courtesy of HT
  3. From the letters page in the HT: WELL done, Herefordshire Council, another brilliant decision with the proposal to raise the Merton Meadow parking charge with a whopping 67% increase from £3 to £5 per day (On-street parking charges on way? Hereford Times, July 30). I would accept an increase is due, but I think an increase of 50p, taking the charge to £3.50 per day, would be acceptable. Who in Hereford (councillors excepted) could afford to pay £5 per day? I would hazard a guess those requiring full-day parking Monday to Friday are mainly city centre workers, many of whom are on minimum wage levels of pay and for whom such a charge would have a devastating effect on already overstretched incomes. We are a county town where, in many instances, public transport is not an option, leaving most people no choice but to travel by car. Which leads to another aspect, that of attracting visitors/shoppers to the city’s both old and new shopping centres. If the aim is to entice visitors to linger and part with their cash, I doubt a £5 charge would prove much of an incentive or encouragement. GRAHAM BURTON Carless Close, Hereford
  4. I think this is a great idea, working with local people in your community well done Councillor.
  5. These opposite are next to be demolished. Growing up and seeing these flats everyday, seems a little sad now that they are going. I am sure that the new homes will look a lot better and be a lot more modern and green.
  6. I managed to grab these few photo's of phase 4. Kilvert Rd first set of flats. The flats opposite are due to come down next.
  7. Thanks Roger, lets see what happens here then.
  8. I see that the local scammers have upset this lady in this article!
  9. Well done and congratulations to Mark Dykes
  10. Please be aware that the police are attending an RTC near to Pontrilas, where s lorry has struck the bridge.

  13. About time! I know that 'It's Our County' have been trying to bring them back so if this is correct this is good news.
  14. South Wye Community Association are very keen to retain the library and they feel that misinformation could actually prejudice these plans. At the moment the proposal from Herefordshire Council is out for consideration/comment. The Community Association have emailed me the attached letter and asked that it be published on Hereford Voice in order to try and give a balanced view of what is happening. Obviously we are all keen to ensure that we retain the library for everyone. Here is the letter:
  15. Congratulations and well done to Cllr Tracey Bowes.
  16. They are given one job and they fail ha ha
  17. I don't know why they don't put an increase on fuel to cover the tax costs, that way the more that you use the road the more that you pay. This is the only fair way in my opinion.
  18. Well we are where we are so lets stick to the topic in hand, the only person at fault in my opinion here is the home owner, who has left this problem for everyone else to sort out! I think the place should be cleaned up and the invoice sent to her. I also agree with Aylestone Voice's last post.
  19. This was indeed very sad news today RIP our Cilla
  20. This was posted on our FaceBook page today:
  21. I have just read this article in the HT.
  22. Since they implemented these silly parking machines I stopped using Morrison's full stop.
  23. The LED lights (not IED) that were installed in Belmont over 3 years ago, personally, I think they are excellent, cost saving and now there is no or very little light pollution. In my opinion this is the way forward and the council get my vote on this one to be fair, I have also changed all of my bulbs at home which has saved a lot of money too.
