  1. From Councillor Nick Nenadich - Conservatives There were a few exceptions when Cllr Preece offered comments from each of the councillors around the table in turn, Cllr Nick Nenaditch stood out to me the most, I could not believe his unprofessional behavior as an elected councillor as he said "He was onboard until he heard Amanda Martin (Hereford Reunited) mention the Edgar St trees while explaining to Martin Cassini what the extra lane was for while driving along Edgar St in the video presentation" Quite frankly, I am not interested in his personal opinion, he is only there to represent his constituents! But it all got a little bit embarrassing and he even refused to comment in the end. Personally, I think he threw his rattle out of the pram and acted very childishly indeed, certainly not what I expected from a councillor, even some of his fellow councillors were rolling there eyes, which spoke volumes.
  2. From Councillor Alan Seldon - It's OUR County!
  3. From Councillor Anthony Powers - It's OUR County!
  4. But in the last 3 months there has been more than 1 accident, so does that then qualify to turn these lights out in your conservative opinion? All we are asking for initially is a micro simulation and depending if that is is favour of a trial then again all we are asking for is merely a trial! Surely this has to be explored? We cannot go on as it is, it is beyond a joke and getting worse! Just wait until the Old Market shopping centre opens. The second phase of our campaign that I have been asking for since 2009 is Part-Time Traffic Lights on the ring road between the hours of 7pm-7am. Again, I have just got home and I have been sat at the Newmarket St traffic lights and again at the Asda junction traffic lights just waiting needlessly because of a red light at 12.35am! I was the only car sat at the lights on both occasions! WHY?
  5. From Cllr Philip Price - Conservatives and Cabinet Member Infrastructure

  9. From Cllr Jon Norris - It's OUR County!
  10. Cllr Mark Hubbard - It's OUR County! Sent the following email to Cllr Philip Price:
  11. We had a meeting on the evening of December 6th 2014 in the Hereford Town Hall Chambers with MP Jesse Norman together with Paul Hillman and Andrew Butterfield of the Highways Agency, to discuss the possibility of a 'traffic lights out' trial along a short corridor on the A49/A465 in Hereford. The highways agency indicated that they were prepared to look into funding a micro simulation and MP Jesse Norman offered to assist with finding funding if required. Jesse Norman also suggested that it would be a good idea if we contacted all of the local councillors in an attempt to get their support for a trial, we agreed and also thought it would be courteous and help our cause to have the local councillors support. Cllr Jim Kenyon kindly arranged for our group (Hereford Reunited) to give a brief presentation to the Hereford City Planning Committee on January 15th which was also held at the Hereford Town Hall. Details of this meeting can be found in the Hereford Traffic 'Lights Out' Meeting Topic. In general, our presentation was received well by the majority of the committee even though the chairman on the day Cllr Bob Preece explained that the committee had no powers to implement a trial and could only make a recommendation to the HA at best. The Lord Mayor Cllr Phil Edwards also offered a letter of support from the Mayors Office. Following this meeting and several weeks later John Harrington (Hereford Reunited) wrote an excellent letter to all the Cabinet which was published in the Lights Out Campaign Letter Topic, asking if we could present our case to them, a copy is attached below. Several weeks passed with no replies from any councillor! I then sent a bulk email to all of the HV members on April 14th. Cllr Mark Hubbard and Cllr Jon Norris to be fair responded immediately and copied in all of the local councillors, now we have started to receive their replies and decided to publish each and every one of them as arrive on HV for you all to read and comment on, they are as follows: Cllrs Lights Out Letter.pdf
  12. Personally, I think it is wrong to name anyone being accused of a crime, once someone has been convicted you can light up the skies with their name for all I care but lets wait until a conviction is secured first.
  13. Scroll down, it at the bottom right hand side but if you are still struggling to find it CLICK ME
  14. I will check but I am pretty sure that you can choose to ignore members - posts|signature|messages within your Profile>My Settings Just for the record, the FRONT PAGE is only a snap shot of the top 15 current topics and posts, in order to read older topics and post just click on the FORUMS tab on the main page or click the NAVIGATION tab at the top and a choice will drop down for you to choose from. Once a member reply's to a post within a topic, that topic automatically bumps back to the FRONT PAGE, regardless of how old it may be, that is why some topics reappear, its usually because a member has responded, so it's always worth checking the last post to see what has been added.
  15. Yes come on guys lets move on from this vile Nazi referencing please! Back to the main topic Harry Bramer...
  16. Phil, I have replied to you, I do not remove comments unless they break the forum rules, however, I think this thread is making a turn for the worse and it has run it's course, so with that in mind I will lock it to prevent any further replies.
  17. I completely agree, I work hard all week and pay my taxes, so in my opinion, if I want to go out to a nightclub and leave at 2am, I should also be able to decide if I would like to have a Chinese, Indian or Kebab before I retire home. If there happens to be any trouble then the police should deal with this as they would any other incident but you have more chance of seeing a fight kick off outside a pub or supermarket rather than some Indian restaurant in my experience.
  18. As a doorman we are licensed to manage the pub/club that were working, however, many of us do not work for these pubs/clubs quite often we work for independent security companies who provide licensed SIA security personnel. I often worked in the Litten Tree (Yates)the majority of pubs/clubs are all linked via radio to a pub watch scheme, so for example if a big fights kicks off in the pub next door (Hop Pole)generally we would go and assist and visa versa, where it changes is when a fight carries on onto the public highway/footpath, then we have to be very careful, we can again assist if someone is in serious danger but at that point the police are usually on their way. But let me add one more thing, in over 16 years big fights are few and far between, especially if you have good door staff, the idea in my experience is to spot trouble BEFORE it starts, prevention is better than cure.
  19. This was because of roadworks nothing to do with the lights and the lights were only out for less than an hour so definitely not the cause
  20. Correct, any nightclub can apply for longer hours as in Mamma Jammas case but this is not about nightclubs or nightclubs serving food this is about food establishments not being able to serve hot food after 1.30am in Hereford.
  21. There are plenty of recording and reports of perfectly flowing traffic when the lights are out! Here is one from last year
  22. Hi there and welcome to HV. These are perfectly good questions which I will attempt to answer. 1. I contacted the council a few years ago and was told that hot food served late at night needs licensing and food establishments need to apply for late licences which seem to be rejected. Paul Neades (Landlord of Yates) may be able to throw more light on this but basically the police are trying to save money here by employing less officers on the weekends! 2. Well it is easier to ask which establishments are not allowed to serve hot food after 1.30am. Not so long ago you could get hot food from The Golden Galleon until 3-4am Chinese take aways were usually open until at least 2-3am, I remember grabbing a Chinese at 2am on my way home after finishing my shift working on the door. The Chinese in Bridge St was always open. Who remembers the Lotus?? that used to close at 4am! Have a read through this whole topic and you will get the general idea, I appreciate that back before the licensing laws were relaxed everyone would pile out into Commercial Rd at 1am and often (like in most town and cities throughout the country) alcohol fuelled people would let their emotions run high and fights inevitably would break out, this happens every weekend, not just in Hereford but the changes came into effect at the same time that the licensing laws were relaxed ??? Nowadays, people tend to go out later because there is no mad rush to get the drinks down your throat before 11pm and a mad dash to the nightclub or you would not get in. Instead of a mass exodus from the nightclubs at 1 or 2 am now there is steady trickle of people leaving at all hours, so the problems of the past are no longer there! So its beyond me why the council in Hereford enforce this stupid pointless curfew on hot food, like its going to make a difference! People now go to the Lunchbox in Commercial Rd, (drive past at 2am on a Friday or Saturday, rarely any problems) or they will go to the 24 hour garage, or Tesco, so why not a restaurant or takeaway?
  23. This is our whole point Roger! When the lights are out, yes your right, people tend to slow down and look at what is going on around them, lets hope that the decision makers see this idea as an example which has been proven to work in other towns and grasp it with both hands!
  24. Yes, I did see thanks Glenda your support is very much appreciated.
