And that's what I thought Denise. Just to see that these guys talk to each other and send out the same message I also wrote to the Minister himself! I'd like to see another response just to compare wording. I've written to the Herefordshire Nature Trust and Herefordshire Ornithological Club to enquire whether they have undertaken surveys along this route. I'm looking for the right address for HRH Prince Charles probably via the Duchy of Cornwall Office and I feel either the Hereford Transport Forum or Here for Hereford should make contact with national media particularly Countryfile who have raised the topic of council owned farms before. What about the NFU...it's all about raising awareness of what this road is all about which is not transport but houses. Even this letter suggests that.

I have today received a response from Andrew Jones MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of state regarding the Hereford Southern Relief Road. I will try and get this scanned into my PC and then posted onto Hereford Voice. It's all about houses...but see what you think. Will try and sort today.

A year or so ago the council had a company in town using cameras to investigate the sewers so the issue has been raised before. There is a problem though on the corner with HSBC and its been there for years.

Do we know if the site has new owners because I thought the last lot went bankrupt and all was in the hands of the administrator.

It would interesting to know the thoughts of the tenant farmer assuming it's land from one council owned farm. Even if SC2 fails the farm could still be sold off though this is under some kind of scrutiny committee which I think Council Sebastian Bowen is involved with. I believe they have put a price on farms in Herefordshire of between £30-£50 million.A similar sell off in Staffordshire has gone away for now. I wonder if this tenant farmer has been promised anything in terms of compensation should either the farm be sold off or cut in two by the road?

Nice one Jimbo! The timescales are all very tight.Even if they get the go ahead for this it will probably be at least 2019 before completed and then just another 12 years or thereabouts to build a bridge and the rest of this supposed western relief road. Does anyone know how long it took to build the A49 around Leominster?

Well I'm all for a bit more greenery and the appointment of a high town caretaker. The pigeons are a pain but earlier this week I watched a daring raid by a female sparrowhawk who trashed in on some pigeon party by the derelict site ( as stated before sadly so long as it's safe there's zip the council can do but be sensible when an eventual planning application comes in!). Occasionally the Perigrines call in but to be honest the Herring Gulls are the problem..they are making a lot of mess. I don't mind the kiddy ride but that's only because it winds old Roger up so much and it detracts from the constant sewer smell by the HSBC. Bloody sure one day that's all going to collapse!

I have e-mailed Herefordshire Nature Trust who are listed as a consultee. I want to see what they have to say about this. So far no replies from my enquiries to the Secretary of State for Transport or his underlings.

I also saw the piece on Midlands Today Denise..has it been suggested that some of these farms lie in the path of SC2?

It's an incredible number of documents to read within a relatively short space of time which is also something worth objecting to!! I have objected to the environmental impact studies many of which were done via the " desktop approach" Could not find a bird count, a snapshot flora/fauna observation done over just two days, questionable descriptions of ancient woodland just a few examples Maggie of how you can pick holes in the process.

I see James Stokes objection on the planning site and hopefully my objection will appear soon but I'm surprised not to see more based on the obvious opposition on this site Jean.

As a matter of interest has anyone on Hereford Voice formally objected to the scheme?

Will attend but we maybe getting close to the time where structure is required on driving opposition to this project as it stands. Which group would you say is taking the lead at this time?

My view is that until the money has changed hands then there is a just a small chance that it could be stopped. If we are unlucky then this road could be completed around the same time as the next election and my guess would be that it could provide a big stick to throw at poor old Jess. Bottom line ..I would like to see a truly Independent Parliamentary candidate pitched for Herefordshire South at next election agreeable to IOC and Independents. Do our know if anyone has raised this folly with the Duchy of Cornwall yet? Charlie would love this story of a road to nowhere!

Now I'm not stupid enough to believe these things get anywhere however it's always worth a go so I've sent e-mails to the Secretary of State for Transport and a couple of Under Secretary's highlighting my concerns about the allocation of funds for this road project.

Now things might have changed however it was my understanding that Safety Camera Partnership vehicles could not choose any old spot to park up.There tends to be discussions between local council, residents and police and this can take time. Looking at these pictures you could not really miss it yet in Pandy on the A465 they get lots of clients violating the 40mph even though it's a straight road for a good mile. If you can't see these then please watch out for the unmarked motorbike that can be seen performing a similar role sometimes as early as six in the morning as seen in Bredenbury on the A44 and the Ledbury Road out of Hereford around Bartestree where at 6.30 your guaranteed speeders inpatient with the 30mph. You get just 10% margin of error and that not much at this speed.

Thank you Glenda and apologies for I should have come over and said hello. I had hoped to see more members of the public however all is not lost. The meeting was informative and I grabbed two important points. Firstly Herefordshire Council does not have the money which still lies in the purse of the Department of Transport. To this end I'm going to make a nuisance of my self with the Minster and under Secretary's (and there are a few). Personally ( not representing a group) I will make the case that this road scheme does not fit all the criteria for funding and could demonstrate once more a waste of the public purse should it go ahead. I would rather be fobbed off by some understudy PA in the transport dept than young Archie in Jessies office locally. Perhaps I can then go to one of Jessies surgeries for a chat! My second observation was on the announcement that the environmental study on Grafton Wood was woeful as I thought that these days such undertakings had strict dudiligence if that's the correct phrase. There are many groups that could make noise on this one so if somebody can guide me to this document that would be great. Of course if the whole thing gets timed out in March so much the better however I'm still concerned about whether the Welsh or English Governments have something in mind for the A465 because if not why spend millions dualling the remaining parts around the top of Abergavenny only to stop dead on the East side of the town. Sending HGV,s, back down the road to Raglan and a certain set of lights at Monmouth won't tick many road hauliers box. Nice pictures of the Twyford Cutting Amanda. The Old traffic lights on the old A33 that the M3 replaced were were a nightmare ....it was often called Ghost corner.

Well I want to maintain some form of anonymity so if it's going to kick off perhaps leave the sword and shield behind ...and settle for Police Combat fatigues complete with tazer.....Ah hang on a mo Amanda might bring Julian so scrap that ...perhaps a Tin Tin costume. Yes that will do it very unassuming.

...and Here's How Our Urban Streets Should Look...
greenknight replied to Amanda Martin's topic in Open Forum
Now Maggie I know you ladies like to multi task but these days young mums are often pushing the buggie with one hand and using the phone with the other. There is conversation but not necessarily with mother and child. -
Thanks Denise...no surprises there although I'm not sure the picture of that abandoned development at Burford is relevant. They could have at least solved the mystery as I've driven past this on the A40 many times making an assumption that this was built with no planning consent however something tells me there,s a story to tell.

Sadly Maggie I can quite believe this was said and if you enquire into your local estate agent they will give you an idea of where their clients are coming from which is why many now have arrangements with agents in Birmingham or London. New builds situated within the periphery of Hereford a relatively low crime county with glorious views and day trips to the country what more would any retired person want than to see out their days in peace and quiet. Two people from the south east could purchase a significant four bedder (for when the grandchildren stay) and so long as there are enough gardeners and general tradesmen that's all that is required thanks very much!! I'm being a little fececious but I actually believe this is where this County is going and many want it this way because it won't hurt our environment and we won't need massive infrastructure changes except we forget about health and social care provision of course. We are to become a glorified retirement project where the only jobs will be in those areas described already. I feel very sorry for the young people in this County. Let's see if similar comments are made at the Kindle Centre this Friday.
