The residents closest to the car park in Waterfield road have got car parking spaces at the back, I do Know that the people living in Kestrel road use this car park. The estates manager has come back to me and explained that the signs have been put up in Pixley Walk and Marcle close because people other than the residents living there were parking, the residents of Pixley walk and Marcle close have now been issued with permits for one car per household, the estates manager told be it will be reviewed periodically over the next 6 to 12 months.

The car park at the top of Newton Farm in Waterfield road belongs to the council, if you remember that car park was put in at the request of Cllr Edwards for the fishermen at Belmont Pools to use, also now for his country park. It was the subject of a planning application which was was approved because Cllr Edwards told the planning dept that the residents of Waterfield road was having keys to open and close the gates.therefore it was passed on those conditions.Only to find out later the residents did not agree to open / close the gates, this all came to light when residents complained of drug taking, drinking and on one occasion someone was stabbed there I know this is true because I was a member of planning at the time also dealt with complaint at 4.30am when I was contacted by the police. In regard to the other car parks behind the houses they belong to HHL, I have left a phone message for the HHL estate manager to come back to me with explanation, when I get it I will post on here!.

Broad Street and surrounding areas disruption. Someone on roof.
Glenda Powell replied to adamski's topic in Open Forum
Just rang taxi service they tell me everything back to normal, a man was threatening to jump off one of the buildings. The incident is over. No further details about the man. -
At the risk of getting a minus vote from somebody, unless the council has changed in the last 11 months the rule is no councillor from another ward is allowed to come into someone elses ward with out permission from the council. Also the GWW is part of BBLP contract so they should be keeping the GWW clean and tidy as a part of their job. We the people are paying twice over in our council tax and precept money for what BBLP should be doing. and getting paid for doing it. But good job by the people and police.

Police and Crime Commissioner won't stand again

well being an ex-police officer I am sure you feel competent in making your statement! I have always found him very competent in what he was doing, and I always speak as I find! -
I can confirm that Phil Edwards did actually take part in the litterpick on the GWW ( see this weeks HT page 99) he was joined by his newton farmers and country park members together with three police officers a total of 8 including himself. It is a pity he doesn't put the same effort into his elected role. Many people (3 on Tuesday this week) has told me they haven't seen him in the 11 months since he became their councillor.

Roger, it isn't the case of "jobs for mates" when Barrie came to a meeting when Bill Longmore was elected we all found him very compident, infact we thought he was the candidate not Bill. having seen him work I will be voting for Barrie, and hope he gets in!. -
Mine is OK in Charlton Avenue. Just checked it again now still OK.

12 minutes ago in Hereford Times: One of the busiest roads out of Hereford will close for five consecutive nights next week. The A49 between Asda and Walnut Tree avenue will close for five nights from Tuesday. Highways England says the route will be closed between 8pm - 5am for "signs and lighting improvements" with a diversion route "clearly signposted".

DILIGAF, who has told you the brooks boundaries have changed? The Newton Brook runs from Waterfield road under the road to come up along side the Three Counties Hotel then into Glastonbury Close which also runs between Golden Post and Sydwell Road. The Belmont Brook from the landfill site in Belmont, along the CR7 then runs left of the little bridge into the River Wye. Villa street backs onto the River Wye. When Cllr Edwards lived in Belmont his home used to run alongside of the Belmont brook and he was often seen on the CR7 cleaning the brook and cutting back the undergrowth. BBLP are responsible for both brooks, but the belmont brook also comes under the durisdiction of the Belmont Rural Parish Council. The newton Brook is part of the Newton Farm ward so either get in touch with BBLP or Councillor Edwards, as he cuts the grass in Waterfield road as well as Belmont he should be aware of the state of the brook. The lakes were in private ownership but now belongs to the Kindle centre committee.who bought them from the private owner some years ago for if my memory serves me well £60,000. For the community. Hope I have explained this fully for you. Glenda

Dilligaf, only saw 2 people walking from the Oval to the GWW, and I have a good view from my home. Phil Edwards was going round the houses near you on Friday morning asking people to join him in the litter pick on Saturday ( see my post on Find Phil) he got some choice answers he didn't want. other than the two people I initially saw, I couldn't see anyone litter picking, there were people jogging and walking their dogs on the GWW
-
A siteing of the councillor was witnessed by many residents of Newton Farm today, wearing his yellow Newton Farmer viz as he knocked on peoples doors asking them to join him on the litter pick tomorrow. From what a few people that told me today he had some choice answers that he wasn't expecting!

He is supposed to be a part of the clean for the Queen on Saturday morning they are meeting between 9.30am and 10.00am at the Information Centre in Newton Farm as a starting point, so someone could ask him where he's been in the last 10 months. He did the same when it was the Belmont ward no one ever saw him then either.
-
It is him then, he's aged in the last 12 months. Obviously being chairman of his two groups has taken it toll on him. see Tarqsm quote in the HT(see Rogers link): TARQSM " shame he doesn't put as much efford in his elected role, since May then we may as well be unrepresented".
-
Dippy, I have found the story and photo. He obviously gave the interview to the paper as chairman of the country park volunteers and also of the Newton farmers group, but still not convinced its him in the phot.o
-
Dippy, I have looked on the HT website but cant see the photo or story
-
1. Is the photo of Phil Edwards, he normally like to face the camera not have his back to it. 2. The area is called the "Shaw walkway" not Newton meadows. 3. This work should be done by BBLP, they get paid for keeping the area clean, grass cut also football pitches accessible to the public and pathways clear and accessible. I used to get them up there to do the work.

Cllr Edwards is the chairman and I believe his wife is the treasurer of the Country Park supporter Group and to my knowledge the other councillors are the Belmont Rural Parish Councillors. Other members of the Country Park supporters group are all residents of Belmont.
-
I am surprised the HT hasn't picked up on this. My Nephew was coming South Side he said it looked bad and was stuck in traffic for 45 minutes trying to get across from Edgar Street to the new bridge.

In the past when we still had the St Francis, church I organised many litter picks on Newton Farm, it was Amey then that had the contract, we got the teenagers and younger children involved as well as the police, there was an insentive given to the children if they helped out they got a voucher for a beefburger or hot dog after the litterpick which the police did the cooking, and in the evening for the teenagers a disco type evening again with food that the polce arranged and kept an eye at the church. On a couple of occasions some of the residents joined in also Jesse Norman.

Use Trams On Great Western Way
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I had the misfortune of having to listen to Cllr Price for 5 years, and he never agreed to anything that the opposition said, and when he became cabinet member it simply went to his head I am afraid if it isn't a Tory suggestion or his he doesn't want to know, and in my opinion he never will. He is the most miserable member of the council and if he ever attempted a smile I'm sure his face would crack!- 246 replies
