It has been brought to my notice by two mothers on two consecutive days that the health and safety is not being adhered to on the building site. A metal tube was leaning against one of their railings when one of the diggers hit the fence and the tube fell narrowingly missing a young child in a buggy. Also coming back from the shop today I was told a digger ran into the back of a person car causing damage, that is being dealt with by Keepmoats insurance company, and now a digger has just passed me near my home with the bucket with bricks in it was too high for the driver to see over the top hiding the drivers visibility. I have made an official complaint to HHL because they are their developers for HHL development at the Oval, and told the mothers of the children to report it to the site manager. Something has got to be done before someone is either injured or killed!.

well said Bobby, I have just received through my letterbox today a newsletter why we should vote to stay in EU, my vote will be to LEAVE!

i have to agree harsher penalties are the way forward. I have this in the house to the left of me, above and to the right in my block of flats, further three houses in my street, and one of these dealing in drugs. I have reported this to HHL as they are all their tenants. I have been trying to get this sorted for the last 5 years. I have repeatedly told the police, to no avail,a senior officer in HHL told me that " if they terminated their tenancies of people taking drugs half of their properties would be empty" I told her she should be ashamed of herself for saying that. What concerns me is that young children in these properties is inhailing this stuff. In my case I cannot open my windows because of the smell and it is also filtering down to my home. I know some of you may say why don't you move, but why should I be the one to move!. It is about time HHL and the police did something about this.

Petition 'Turn Off Lights At Asda Junction Hereford'
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
I am not being defeatest, before anyone on here says I am, but with respect Bill you do not know Cllr Price its his decision as cabinet member and unless it concerns him personally, or its in his own ward,or he's in favour of it (which he isn't) he won't do anything. I worked along side of him for 6 years and I know what he's like..- 87 replies

Petition 'Turn Off Lights At Asda Junction Hereford'
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Colin, where I have always agreed that the lights should be turned off, also speaking in its favour last October at full council meeting Cllr price as you know ignored your first petition and he is not the type of person to change his mind, so I think the new petition will fall on deaf ears, but I hope I am wrong.I HAVE SIGNED THE NEW PETITION!- 87 replies

This is going to be interesting because anyone using the Belmont road at the roundabout by Tesco, and seeing a long standstill of traffic turns into Southolme road ,then Waterfield road to get to Belmont road via the Oval. I hope there are diversion signs visible!.

well if thats the case they are not doing their job! Even the site managers have told me HHL has changed the layout and the different areas of the build, as an example the bungalows are not supposed to be built until next year yet they have built 8 of them and then built houses in front of them making what gardens they were to have a lot smaller, and now they will be dark inside, the other 6 bungalows are being built next year.

TWG, sorry to contridict you but HHL had to abide by the conditions for this development laid down by the council planning officers and others to get their application approved, which has now gone out of the window, they also have a steering group which all the councillors for the area is /was a part of, the now local councillor is the chairman of the steering group. This was set up with HHL officers to keep a close eye on the development. There are health and safety issues, and I can see if someone falls and get injured they will no doubt make a claim, and the condition of the roads and unsafe parking of cars/vans belonging to the constructions workers will help their case. I had arranged with the council for their cars to use the car park in waterfield rd but they said it was to far to walk to the site. K Butt, I know there has been a lot of rain, but the problem was here before it came, and it was no better in the summer with dust clouds in the air from the demolition of the PRC properties, the air was white like a snow storm. I know it is a major development site but there is no road that isn't affected right round the Oval. maybe if you lived here for 24 hours you would have a better understanding of what the residents are living with, its affecting everyone even the streets immediately behind the development. still we might have some respite next week when the forecasted snow falls in Hereford! When I was the local councillor living on Newton Farm I had fortnightly/monthly meeting with the site manager which highlighted the problems and they were dealt with straight away I had ,still have a working relationship with the site manager, and as i said in a previous post I ask for the sweeper to come round and it does when i ask for it but the roads need a wash down not the sweeper!.

TWG The sweeper was around tonight after dark sweeping the road outside my home. when I was a councillor I had arranged with the council for the construction staff to park their vehicles in the unused car park in Waterfield Road, they would not do it claiming the car park was to far away for them to park there. My door and windows are filthy from all the mud off the road spraying my home. I clean the door and window sills every day because they are white, between the mud and the road flooding its a mess, and now next week they are closing the road around the Oval just making it one-way for some time. It is total caos here, and nobody cares. As this development is HHL they should be fined in my opinion they have employed the contractors to build their housing.

As I live across the road from this development I have to say it is dangerous, I went to the Ovals shops this afternoon and nearly fell with all the mud and surface water on the roads, the problem is also the construction workers park their cars on the grass verge and road across from me, together with the construction traffic coming past every few minutes it has turned the road into a one-way system. It was also total caos at 7.30am this morning there was no space on the road from Charlton Ave to belmont road the traffic was at a standstill for 30 minutes. Also last week my sister also nearly fell on the muddy road. they don't need the sweeper but a wash down of the roads. I have told Rich the site manager on several occasions about this, and give him his due he sent the sweeper a few minutes later. But you do take your life in your hands walking between Charlton Ave and the Oval, personally I have had enough of it and we have got another 18 months of this until the development is completed!

Pete Boggs, Bill was never afraid to expose the council questionable dealings so why do you think he won't now he with Allpay?.
-
H Wilson, there is nothing to get over I am just stating the facts. He never answer anyone call for help when it was the Belmont Ward, so I am not surprised now he only got one estate to look after. Look through many of the posts concerning Newton Farm and everyone is saying the same thing!!!
-
Ragwert, I am sorry you have not had any response from Council and Phil Edwards but not surprised i was told by people living in Newton Farm before the holidays that they had contacted Phil Edwards and got no response since May this year. As someone else has said have you kept a written record of the noise time, day and date how long it last etc as this is your written evidence. The environmental health has recording equipment that they can install in the flat that is getting all the problems. I know it is a last resort but if you get nowhere with Herefordshire Housing tell them you go to the press, I had to do that in April this year and by time the HT and I arrived at the property HHL was alteady there dealing with the propblem, but the story was still published.

Robbery On The Great Western Way Hereford.
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Police & Crime
Mick, according to the Hereford Times (page 9) the 24 year old victim was attacked as he walked from Sainsbury's and close to the Barton Road bridge so he had only just started walking on GWW there are flats and houses there, therefore surprised no one saw or heard anything. To answer your question he would be closer to Sainsbury's CCTV camera than the one on the Hunderton Bridge but one or the other camera's maybe both should of picked up what was going on. The new led lights up there do not shed enough light between light standards, that said if people were home in the flats and houses their household lights would dimly light that end of GWW.. -
Been passing on to all children in NF about Santa, got cought out when one little girl asked me will he be in his sleigh and the reindeers.

Merry Christmas To Our Members At Hereford Voice
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
First six months of the year had been a very traumatic time for me, but I am pleased to say the end of the year will finish on a very high note with a clean bill of health due to misdiagnosis by hospital staff of needing major surgery I am fighting fit and ready to start again. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, AND A PEACEFUL AND PROSPERIOUS NEW YEAR., GLENDA. -
Ragwert, have you tried the local Cllr? Cllr Phil Edwards tel: 350688 he works and in contact with Herefordshire Housing, also ring the police and keep ringing them everytime there is noise. The environmental health can put equipment in to record the noise is there any other neighbours who will complain as well. Geoff Leyton is the estates manager for Newton Farm he should be dealing with this, and HHL has interpreters so there is no excuse not to deal with the complaint. Sorry I can't be more helpful as I am not the Cllr now for Newton Farm otherwise I would fight on your behalf, Ethelstan cresent is a long street over 103 properties there so it would help if you give the property number when contacting the councillor and environmental health. If you would like to contact me please do so and I will see if I can advise you further Colin knows where I live.

Nick no longer a councillor, but a few discreet words in his ex-Tory colleagues ears would do the trick I am sure, and it obviously did. More than half of the planning committee are Tory, so he couln't lose. As the saying goes " its not what you know, but who you know".

Councillor Lester statement is very good news, but the parents have worked hard for this. Speaking with the parents tonight they are pleased with the outcome, so am I.

feel free you get one back!!!

Roger,I checked with a taxi driver today about the taxis outside Tesco he tells me because there are so many taxis in Hereford Bewell Street, the taxis outside Tesco is an overspill of the rank further down by the bus area. As a space comes vacant the taxis outside Tesco moves further down the line.

Denise, I have asked one of my ex-colleagues about this and was told 1 Ledbury road is not on the agenda for full council on Friday, ( the meeting before Christmas is always short because of a Christmas lunch afterwards)the next step is the task and finish group report will go to cabinet in January.
-
Denise, there is no agenda item 24 on the council meeting of 18 December it stops at agenda item 12, Iam now confused about this
-
totally agree Mystery with your comments, and yes you are right in regard to Mr Greenow.

Cllr ChappelI I do not need or seek advice from you.I do not think I important l leave that honour to you! that said I am more than capable of giving people advice but in this case the parents are more than capable of knowing what to do for their children. Especially as they have not been listened to.they have had to fight their own battles, and a very good job they done of it. Denise- I am not a councillor any more thank god, I treat people as they treat me, and Cllr Chappell started with the sarcasmn, I just finished it.
