Tesco Belmont Earmarked To End 24 Hour Opening
Glenda Powell replied to Denise Lloyd's topic in Open Forum
Last time I went to the Belmont store in the evening (9pm) there were hardly anyone there, only couple of checkouts open and they started dimming the lights in some areas of the store. The checkout staff were filling the shelves. -
There are always 6 or 8 taxis in St Peters Square, also the taxis are by the bus stop outside Tesco and also outside Tesco store in Bewell street, I have seen them in Broad Street, Widemarsh Street and at the back of Maylord Orchards. Also they park outside the Kindle Centre. So plenty of taxis imo.

So this is where the Newton Farm Cllr has disappeared to, he is definately not representing his constituents, he has only been seen once since the election and that was when he was sat on his mower cutting the grass in Southolme road Belmont!

Tesco Belmont Earmarked To End 24 Hour Opening
Glenda Powell replied to Denise Lloyd's topic in Open Forum
It said in the National Press a few months ago that Tesco were closing some of their stores across the country so could this be the beginning of the end for the Belmont store? -
The BID is funded by the retailers who joined the BID earlier this year to keep high town clean.
-
The problem with that is he not the councillor for Belmont, he just lives there, but cuts the grass around his home and a couple more places, whilst ignoring the area he represents. As you said people can vote him out next time if they wish, I won't be voting for anyone!

Roger I agree with comment on post 77, unfortunately the people living on Newton Farm have told me only last week the councillor for the area has not been seen since the election, other than sitting on a mower cutting grass in Belmont. I had previously said I had been trying to get in touch the woman who owns the house right up to April this year. I do know that there is a new enforcement officer who I know so will try and get some information from him as to what is happening with the house.

Colin- I think this is a good idea, I like the thought that members have to use their real names. But I can vouch for Greenknight I met him last week.

I have narrowly missed on several occasions, not being knock down by people on mobility scooters in town. If they are genuinely disabled and cannot walk then that is OK but there are two speeds on mobility scooters and everyone seems to go for the top speed. There is a person in Newton Farm who is a danger to themselves and other people on their mobility scooter, they drive at speed on the pavement and very rudely tells people to get out of the way, then without looking either way rides straight into the road and continues to drive there. With all the construction traffic around the Oval development I am surprised they haven't been knock down.

Tesco Belmont Earmarked To End 24 Hour Opening
Glenda Powell replied to Denise Lloyd's topic in Open Forum
Over the last year I have found Tesco have become very expensive, as an example two weeks ago I went to M & S for my food shopping and managed to get 9 chilled meals for £38 (some special offers ie 2 for £7) then last week I went to Tesco in Belmont and paid £76 for the same items of food, so I know where I will be going in future. -
Denise - unless things have changed since May elections 10 councillors can ask for a name vote, but no one asked. two councillors who abstain said they wished to abstain until after the task and finish group had given their recommendations, the third is the chairman of the Task & Finish group therefore he had to abstain, there were also three councillors that did not attend this morning and sent their apology.

I attended the council meeting this morning in support of retaining no 1 Ledbury road, there were approximately 23 parents who had their photo taken by HT. The motion was put to the council to retain no 1 as it is . An amendment to the wording of the motion was allowed which the group were not happy with, a petition was also handed to the chairman of the council with nearly 4,000 signitures for the retention of No 1. The motion was received very well by some councillors and it took 45 minutes to hear every councillor speak and the vote cast: votes 44 for, none against and three abstentions.

I know most of Healthwatch people from Social Care Scrutiny and their public events at the Kindle Centre. I did not recognise anyone from Healthwatch at the meeting last night. Greenknight- the PM service on HV has been temporarily removed by Colin, he will probably reinstate it when he come back off holiday. Glenda.

having spoken with Herefordshire Housing this afternoon on another matter I told them of the rubbish again at the electric station and down the steps by the garages, also about the rubbish at Pixley Walk, they told me they would have it removed.

Roger, everyone in Hereford knew the hospital was to small when they closed the General Hospital,Eye Hospital and the then County Hospital. They then built the present hospital with a short fall of 384 beds. Greenknight, Healthwatch Hereford is closely involved with the hospital, and when I was a councillor I was a member of the Health & Social Care scrutiny committee, both Richard Beeken and Healthwatch frequently attended the meetings to give the committee a report.
-
It was good to meet greenknight tonight as the CQC meeting. On our table we consentrated on the closure of 1 ledbury Road, where I supported the families there. I also mentioned Blackmarston School and their difficulties. I raised the question of hospital is to small, A & E, not enough beds, people being put on inappropriate wards for their conditions,Hillside, and the walk in centre with CQC team. I also asked to be sent a report on their findings which I was assured I would receive the report. It was a good evening and plenty of people there also three councillors.

If you read the story in the press the boy who knocked the lady down, the bike he was riding he admitted finding it in the rubbish it had many things wrong with it so it didn't pass the road safety regulations. people should not be riding or driving cars, vans in the pedestrianised area of High Town, full stop!.

I always found when I was the councillor HHL did nothing unless I threatened going to the press. Speaking to residents in Pixley walk on Friday morning there is rubbish starting to being dumped there as well. If the residents association gets off the ground I have already had residents from Brampton road, Pixley walk, Sherborne close and the new houses complaining to me when we met on the doorstep over the past week.
-
greenknight, I agree with you where are all the candidates/ councillors that came on here in the run up to the elections that has now disappeared?. I have been a member on here since 2010 when Colin started what was then Belmont Voice and he asked me to join which I did. I have had a lot of posters running me down over that time, and just in the past few weeks, but I have taken it all and stayed as a member. My only fault that people don't like is I speak my mind, always have, always will please or offend at least you know where you stand with me. looking at post 69 where its been said that councillors / officers have had a good laugh at what has been said on HV the answer to that is I don't think so what they don't like is what has been written is true, and as the saying goes truth hurts!
-
Good call Colin, I have been concerned for some time. I do not like alias's I feel everyone should use their own name.
-

LEA Pool To Be Demolished For New Affordable Housing
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Hinton
Steve, you are correct the pool closed in 2008, the council left it deteriorate until the cost of repair was to high. The community fought against its closure. Denise affordable housing does not cover 1st time buyers, and intermediate housing is for people who are a priority for whatever reason to get housed, they are given a property while something more appropriate to their needs is found, hense the word 'intermediate'. If when a property appropriate for their needs is given they can apply to buy it but they have to live in the property and rent it for a period of time before allowed to buy it.
