  1. K Butt - the answer to your question is NO. I have no interest in Cllr Edwards, and if what I have heard today from people living in Newton Farm neither have they.If you look at my post 14 you will see I ask if any SW Cllrs are helping, SW Cllrs consist of Redhill, Belmont, Hunderton, Newton Farm, and Saxon Gate also the SW Cllrs for the city council. It doesn't give a good impression to the public when it was a Cllr from north of the city that has arranged this instead of any of the South Wye Cllrs!
  2. Colin, when it was done in 2013, the whole of the GWW was done from up by the skate park in Newton Farm all the way to Sainsbury, I told Amey that was what I wanted, and they did an exellent job. Is any of the local South Wye Cllrs helping Sunday, it would be good to know which ones if any will turn up, especially the local Cllr for Hunderton and Newton Farm who wards run almost the length of GWW.
  3. This looks the same as when AMEY did the work for me in 2013 lifting the canopy of the trees by 3 metres and cutting back the undergrowth also putting in new lights!
  4. Funny how they are installing the CCTV a couple of weeks after the meeting, Colin has been asking for CCTV along the lines for a number of years. I have also been fighting for this and where the council didn't put it in when I asked them to, and I had to go to the commissioner of police for the money as the then local councillor for the area. Again after getting the money and it was given to the council last November, it has taken 10 months for the council to install it. If it had been installed when I asked for it to be done in January this year, the possibility of Christian not losing his life and another assault two months later could of been avoided, the police also agreed with me at the meeting that if the CCTV had been installed there was a very big possibility it would of shown the person who did the stabbings.
  5. having just spoken to one of my ex senior colleagues at the council, the council has to get rid of 6 middle management officers, Bill Norman has taken early retirement from HC with immediate effect, another has gone from children services, four more to go from different departments of the council.
  6. I used to have the same problem when I was a Cllr, when I made a complaint, I did not get a satisfactory explanation as to why there was a delay in answering my call or an apology.
  7. Doesn't this pub belong to Cllr Rone and his brothers?
  8. There was a hegehog in my garden the other night, it activated the security light it disappeared under a large bush, when I went to look for it it had gone. There is always fresh water in my garden because of the birds, both at low level for them to bathe in and other in their water bottles. I have not seen it since.
  9. Tommy Smith, thank you for your praise of the South Wye Big Event, I was one of the organisers, the difference being the residents of all areas of South Wye were involved, hence the name we got funding the first year and it cost £10,000 to put it on thereafter the SW big Event team put it on ourselves every year. The only things that were paid for by the people was the food, drink and danter fair ground was at concessionary prices, it was very hard work but we loved it and so did the people, the food was local produce and the tea tent and food was supplied by the Redhill and Putson resident associations. police did the security and the council supplied the litter pickers , toilet blocks. and allowed us to put the event on the KGPF One year the event drew 15,000 people to it. Excellent community spirit.
  10. I should never have experience what I went through, I had gone to the Ideal Home exerbition by National bus company, and the bus failed to come and collect me, having waited alone on the roadside in London and it was getting dark for over an hour I saw a police officer and he took me into kensington road police station, I had to call my Brother who paid for my rail ticket to the police station before they would take me to Paddington, where they spoke to the train driver and staff on the train to say what had happened, therefore I already felt nervious, the train left around 9pm because it drew into Hereford at midnight. At no time during the journey did any train staff came to speak to me on the journey home. I did not draw attention to myself in regard to my dress as I was dressed in jeans and top. Then to have the frightening experience on the train was not pleasent. A member of my family was waiting at Hereford to take me home as my brother had rang them. A few months later I was attacked on Belmont road at 9.45pm after going to a city council meeting. This happened a couple of years ago.
  11. coming back from London to Hereford on a late train I had a man follow me from carriage to carriage as I tried to get away from him. Lucky for me when I got to the last carriage John Chadd was there and I went up to speak/sit with him, when the man saw us speaking he turned around and left the carriage, don't know what I would of done if John wasn't there as I had nowhere else to go. No ticket man was on the train for me to speak to. So yes I am 100% behind having carriages just for women.
  12. I may be wrong but wasn't cycling in High Town banned when a cyclist knocked down an elderly lady last year and she died.
  13. M Preece, I am not blinkered, far from it, yes the way they treated me was rude, but as you heard I was and still am quite cabable of holding my own, as people said behind me the attitude toward me was unprofessional, even the police inspector was not impressed by how they spoke to me. The police gave a good update into the investigation into Christian death, I don't know where you were sitting but Christian sister was sitting in front of me and got very upset and left the room for a while, but when the cllr's spoke she was shaking her head in disagreement but as I said in my previous post that meeting should of been called a month ago and the people from Hunderton agreed with me. In regard to the CCTV when I asked, as I had been given the money by the commissioner last November, and it was given to the council officer in CCTV dept also a petition of nearly 2.700 signatures had been given in by the people of Hunderton, why the camera had not been installed Cllr Powell couldn't answer me! and Cllr Chappell saying I should go to the local councillor, he is the local councillor for Hunderton.
  14. personally I think we are going to get a surprise when they are caught because it will be someone close and known in the area. I am also not convinced that the murder and recent attack are not linked although the police say no. Its to coinsidential two attacks within two months within yards of the same area.It was obvious to me the people living in Hunderton they feel frightened and the meeting did nothing to reassure them, the meeting should of been held a month ago, as other residents said to me after the meeting ended. we were also not impressed by the councillors on the panel, and Cllr Powell said in answer to a question 'he did not know the answer'. He should also know as a cabinet member that it is Balfour Beatty who has the contract for keeping the GWW and other areas under control. Also when he said he walked the whole length of the GWW on the way home, he had a long walk home as he lives in the country.
  15. I am sorry the only good thing with the meeting was the turnout of the people, of which 6 walked out discussed. The meeting also went off what we were there for. Yes Cllr's Chappell and Powell was rude to me but I told Cllr Powell I may not be a Cllr anymore but I support the people and a member of the community, ( every body clapped) don't know any of the poster from HV heard me but I told Cllr Powell not to talk down to me and spoke to him again after the meeting. I was also interviewed again after the meeting by Free radio and the HT.
  16. Adrian Symonds, I totally agree with your post above, I asked for 3 CCTV cameras in my campaign over the last 5 years one at Barton Road entrance to the GWW, one on Hunderton Bridge and the last up by the Skate Park in Newton Farm. (I only got the money for one by asking the police commissioner Mr Longmore for the money)The reason I only asked for these areas because they covered the areas I was the ward councillor for. It was up to the councillors who represented White Cross and Hereford City to ask for them in their areas. In regards to the Led lights personally I don't like them they only shine directly down in the area they are situated in between it is dark, unfortunately those are the lights the council favour and are installing all over Hereford. In regards to the trees/bushes as I said previously I asked Amey the council contractor at the time to cut these back which they did it took them 3 weeks to complete and it made a great deal of difference, they did a fantastic job for me right up to when they lost the contract, unfortunately the work they completed has not been repeated since, the contractors now just cut the grass . In my opinion it should be monitored every month to see what work needs to be done and do it ! I told all this to Free Radio and HT when they interviewed me this week, because they had acknowledged my campaigning for CCTV for GWW over the last five years. I will be attending the meeting tonight and given the opportunity asking both the council "why has the camera not been installed, and the police why they did not call a meeting a month ago to reassure the residents of Hunderton".
  17. I was told this morning that the HT and the Council will be at this meeting.
  18. Yes Colin, like yourself I had been campaigning since 2010 also for CCTV, my efforts came to fruition last November when the money I asked the Police Commissioner for 18 months ago for a CCTV camera was awarded ( see my post 7 on the GWW assult post) also my campaign was acknowledged today when Free Radio asked me for an interview this morning, they had known of my campaign, and I was able to confirm the camera will be installed on the Hunderton Bridge in September.
  19. water coming out of hot/cold taps in Newton Farm at the moment is normal colour, yesterday road flooded with brown water also gardens. Just listened to weather forecast for Hereford more heavy rain tonight and tomorrow afternoon.
  20. the pressure is already mounting Free Radio news at 5pm stated "HC is being critisized for not installing the camera until later this year" they then played my interview. Glenda
  21. Colin - I have just been interviewed by Free Radio in regards to the CCTV cameras for GWW and my comments as they acknowledged I have been fighting for this to happen for years. I am hoping that now this will encourage the installation of this camera straight away. I mentioned HV and the discussions about the CCTV camera. The interview is on this afternoon on Free Radio frequency 97.6
  22. Frank- the cutting back of the trees/bushes were done just before Amey lost the contract in fact it was the last work they did, the only thing that did not happen was more lighting. due to the budget was cut.
  23. Mick- as I said in my post above, the Hunderton Bridge, the bridge in the photo above, it is my understanding from the police the young man was stabbed as he came under the bridge, and then again in Hunderton itself. ragwert- I agree, it was not so long ago the police CSO's were given i-pads to enable them to stay on the beat, and not sit in offices writing out their reports, that said I have not seen either police officers or CSO's walking around for months, but they are not in the South Wye Police station either. They share the police station with the ambulance service now, and you see the paramedics there more than the police. I remember attending the South Wye police station opening possibly in 2003/4 at a cost of I believe £384,000 what a waste of money!
  24. This is unacceptable, 18 months ago whilst I was a councillor for the Belmont ward I approached the Police Commissioner Mr Longmore as he was giving out money for CCTV cameras to be installed across West Mercia area. It took until last November for me to get the money for the camera installation, I worked with the staff of the city CCTV dept and together we approached Hereford City council for a grant to pay for the first years running costs, in February the grant was awarded. I asked for the camera to be installed on the Hunderton bridge straight away but was told the camera would not be installed until September. I told the council this was not good enough right up to April this year, the people of Hunderton also got up a petition for the camera to be installed, instead there was a fatal stabbing in June and now another stabbing has occured this weekend. If they had installed the camera when I asked them to one young man would not have lost his life, and avoided the other stabbing. How many more people have got to be stabbed before this camera is installed!!!
  25. Having watch the drama Dalziel and Pascoe last night about a cult on TV it is easy to see how vulnerable people can get drawn into a cult, but at the same time it is frightening the influence they have over people in the guise of friendship and love. I see the commentsin HT on this story has reached 103 this morning.
