Public Exhibition for South Wye Transport Package.
Glenda Powell replied to Glenda Powell's topic in Open Forum
Dippyhippy Sorry my mistake it should of read 19th June not August. There is a meeting for councillors next Thursday afternoon about the south wye transport package, if there is any further news I will post it here and on my website. -
I received this today from Herefordshire Council Newsdesk. Quote: 19th Aug 2014 Public Exhibition for South Wye Transport Package Herefordshire residents will have an opportunity to view plans and give feedback about traffic and transportation issues affecting the South Wye area of Hereford. The council will hold a public exhibition from Tuesday 1st to Thursday 3rd July (from 12 noon to 8pm each day) at the Three Counties Hotel, Hereford. The exhibition will display a number of options that have been considered for addressing problems in the area. Residents are encouraged to come along and give their views and opinions on the transportation problems and the options that have been identified to deal with these. Following the exhibition people will be able to feedback their comments until 8th August 2014. Cllr Price, cabinet member for infrastructure said: " traffic flows on the A465 are forecast to increase over time as a result of economic growth. The aims of this study are to look at ways to reduce congestion, pollution and social deprivation in the South Wye area. In order to do this, it is important that we consult widely with local residents and stakeholders. I would urge anyone with any interest in this project to come along to the public exhibition and see the options that have been identified to deal with the continually growing transport problems in the South of the city. everyone will be given the opportunity to voice their opinions on the outcomes of the initial stages of the project and we welcome them to do so". More information about the South Wye transport Package and a link to the online consultation can be found from the 1st July on line HERE. For a hard copy of the consultation brochure and consultation questionnaire please contact 01432 349505 or email Hereford@pbworld.com End.

All councillors for the Hereford City wards were invited to a meeting with Balfour Beatty between Monday & Wednesday this week. I attended yesterday afternoon to be told I was the only councillor that had turned up all day. The south of Herefordshire areas are being cut first two weeks in July. In regard to the Belmont ward I gave them a list of priorities as well as other areas in Newton Farm, Hunderton and Belmont to be cut i.e. Football pitches, play areas, grass verges and GWW. The following areas that has been brought to my attention are: Newton Farm: the Oval, Treago Grove, Marcle Walk, Waterfield Rd, Ball Court, Pixley Walk, Shaw Walkway fields from the GWW to Belmont Pools. Hunderton: Haylease Crescent play area and Football Pitch, play area and football pitch in Luard Walk and the Riverside walk between Hunderton bridge and New bridge. Belmont: Grass verges, Sydwall Road, Glastonbury Close open space & Northolme Road football Pitch. These have all been entered on the map for these areas to be cut. BB have bought new flailing machines for this work to be done.

On my ward walkabout I went to the Pools this afternoon and was amazed to see people still taking their dog for walks around the pools without a lead on! when I told them about the danger and the algae they just said yes I know. That to me is irresponsible dog owners by their actions.

I am in contact with Mr Dixon because I am supporting the market traders taking over the market, but there is obsticles being put in his way, I had suggested to have the outside market traders to take the empty stalls in the butter market, bringing it all under one roof. It comes as no surprise to have been told that the present mayor and his deputy (who happens to be Father-in-law and son-in-law) want the market to be sold, also the recently out going mayor would like it to be sold to a developer to turn it into an art studio with accomodation in the roof area. Considering the mayor and deputy should in their positions be doing everything to retain the building for the people of Hereford and their political group was formed to fight to keep everything for the people of Hereford in reality they do not seem to care about Hereford or the people. Mr Dixon will openly talk with anyone who can help just go in the buttermarket and speak to him.

The algae at the pools was found to be toxic when I asked the Environment Agency to test the pools, as the signs tell you, it is not present all the time it periodically arrives with hot weather, and will go away again when the weather gets colder. see my story in this weeks HT, page 5.
-
twowheelsgood - that is why I have asked for more appropriate signs to be efected. Ragwert - the Pools at Belmont have never been classed as a pond, they are pools they are deeper than people think and years ago they were surounded by a wood with wild bluebells and primroses. The pools and wood was privately owned.

Colin, hope you enjoyed your holiday in Corfu. To answer your question to the puppy that died, the vet who did the autopsy on the puppy said his finding were inconclusive. but the owner did say the puppy had drank the water. The algae is very visible it looks like white scum we saw it on Tuesday when I was up there with three residents and the HT, the story and my statement is in this weeks edition. I have asked for bigger warning signs as I do not feel they are big enough, also I want a sign from newton farm direction, Haywood Lane and Westholme road. the signs that are there was put up at 7.30am on Tuesday morning.

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting

I do not agree with staff losing their jobs, and I am known for asking for a reduction in management cabinet members reduction of their allowances and management salaries, I have brought it up many times at full council meetings, that is why I did not agree with the budget for 2014-15 and did not vote for it giving my explanations, I got booed by the administration. Also earlier this year I supported two other councillors who like me was willing to take a 10% cut in our allowance, but I again ask for management to take the same cut from their salary, needless to say the management did not take the cut. I could give you many examples of management officers not doing their job, but one in particular where they could not cope with their job and got two people from away to help at a salary of £500 per day, I said she should either resign from her post or pay their salary out of her salary that was when I was booed.- 427 replies

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting

Out of fairness to Cllr Rone since he took over his position as cabinet member he has been very proactive, by getting funding for these community groups to apply for. He has other duties as well. The administration has given him half of Cllr Price portfolio and in my opinion he got the poison challice.- 427 replies

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting

I had an email yesterday from the new cabinet member for highways grass cutting etc. he advised the following Quote: that South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman and Phil Collins of Collins Design and Build has donated £750 with a promise from the county council to match funding for community groups to obtain equipment or training for grass cutting. We are actively encouraging any group that can take the initiative within their locality area to contact their local councillor (Me) or the cabinet member Cllr Paul Rone to get things going. End Hense why I asked if anyone would like to start up a group in Newton Farm and Hunderton in my post earlier.- 427 replies

I do not like what the council done anymore than you do, they will not reverse their decision that was very clear at the meeting last week for the city councillors, but reducing from 7 cuts to 3 a year we can all see the mess our estates are in. I note that when Jim Kenyon got HHL to cut his area with the Tupsley group you all congratulated him. Now I am asking to set up a group in my area its a different matter. I take a pride in my ward and do not wish to see it deterorate any further. And yes I pay my council tax as well both to the county and city council!- 427 replies

I am looking for a group of people in Newton Farm and Hunderton to start up a grass cutting group in these areas, I am looking for funding to set this group up, is anyone interested?. As this administration has cut the budget, let us take a pride in where we live and show them how it should be done..... Glenda- 427 replies

Like most people BB don't work on weekends. The people have been told its up to them, you can't make people listen, and the dog owners didn't want to know. They will soon start shouting if their dogs get ill.
-
They were asked today to put the signs up ASAP, when I went up there this afternoon I did not see any signs,I will go there again on Monday if they are not up I will be getting in touch with BB. As I said earlier the Angling members were telling people while I was there, thats when I heard the dog owners response by saying mind your own business!

I have always liked the journal, and I could guarentee if I sent them a story they printed it. I got on well with everyone at the Journal. Thats more than I can say about the HT, they want to get a grip on whoever prints the stories as twice this week they put the wrong healine to the story under neath. I know a lot of people do not buy the HT now since they put it up to £1.20p if they don't pick up their ideas and reduce the price back to 80p they could find themselves closing as well. I don't buy it anymore I just read their website.

The dog walkers that were round the pools were warned today by the Angling club members who were there, the people told them they always let their dogs drink from the water and they should mind their own business. So if any dogs get sick by their owners letting them go into the water the owners are to be held responsible THEY HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!

lets get the facts straight shall we, when the rat traps were put down there was NO RAT POISON in them, the traps were a means of catching the rats. I have spoken to the parish councillor who got it wrong about putting rat poison down and he admit he got it wrong. When the Env Agency went to the pools there was no algae present at that time.
-
I have received the following information this afternoon in regard to Belmont Pools. I have already notified people living round the pools of this information, also a group of dog walkers, from Belmont and Newton Farm also the Angling Club has been advised this afternoon. This algae has only been found when I asked the environmental health to go to the pools, the algae has only just appeared on the pools surface, and the Parks and countryside officer has informed me today. Bobby, have only just seen this post. Can I say a very big thank you for all your support last year and since it meant a great deal to me! Maybe we will meet up again for a chat like before. No news yet about Birmingham will try and let you know when it happens. Take care, Glenda

Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
As an update of the grass cutting at Tupsley yesterday the CE of Herefordshire Housing told me today that the cut done yesterday was a one off gesture of good will, and it isn't something that we could / would do again. Although their staff gave up their weekend they were paid a limited payment!- 427 replies
