  1. TOM... what are you talking about, I used to be a councillor and when an election is called the candidates choose whether to stand for both council or just one, but if you choose one it has to be district council, because district comes first. What are you saying is fake news it was in the HT that she was told she stay in place because of the by-election.
  2. She still in post at the moment on both city and county level, she was told she wasn't allowed to leave until the by-elections.
  3. Tom Smith... yes I know I'm watching it on BBC, the person who told me was wrong.
  4. Just been told although a low turnout the Brexit Party got 4 seats in the West Midlands area
  5. The EU election results and who got in is being televised tonight from 10pm to 3am on BBC 1
  6. TWG ... I note what they said, look further down page they are only 3 weeks into the Alliance and already Sue Boulter( just retired Mayor) husband is questioning if Bob Matthews is going to keep to his promises. By the way her husband is going to stand for the Whitecross by-election to take her place after she gave up her position just a week after the election, she should of known you cannot work in any capacity of children services and be a councillor!!. And you think IOC can be trusted this by-election is going to cost the tax payer £4,000 for both district and city council as Sue Boulter was a councillor for both. TIME WILL TELL, but they are not starting off on the right footing.
  7. Aylestone Voice... I am not having a dig at Bob, I have known him for 35 years when he was in the police force with my brother, he has not been well for a few years and also worrying about his wife illness, were you by any chance having a dig at me stating standing for election at 74?I am not senile my brain in tact. I have not been a councillor since 2015, but I have kept in touch with what's going on via the Independents and some officers I've known for years. I cant say about the Greens but I Know the Independents / IOC have each got their own manifesto.
  8. twowheelsgood... As I said they all ran their election campaigns on a lie. The Independents have said it for years that the cabinet system would be changed, what else have they lied about?Cllr Mathews should retire he is 80 yrs old and no one in the Independents really take any notice of him, they all do their own thing. IOC can't agree with each other, they will only agree with something if it their idea, Greens well enough said. It is totally different when you are a member, you are aware of all the things the administration do behind closed doors, and DO NOT share with the general public
  9. Nothing has change I see, a newly elected councillor for the first time is leader of the council, and they all ran their election campaigns stating THEY WERE DOING AWAY WITH THE CABINET SYSTEM and yet surprise ! surprise! its back, what happened to the committee system? that went out of the window as soon as they were all elected. And Ellie Chowns has put herself forward to be MEP, she cannot hold both positions, I also note that Cllr Matthews (Independent) said he was going to form the new administration with the Tories, another lie, he has made sure the Tories hold positions of chair / vice chair of committees. Unfortunately I cannot see this administration working with them continually arguing amongst themselves. IOC has a reputation of running the other parties down! TIME WILL TELL, but I won't hold my breath.
  10. Well at last Theresa May has RESIGHNED this morning, not by her choice she met the chairman of the 1922 committee, and he said the other day she would be gone on Friday. Now let see who going to put their name forward for real!!
  11. Well folks the big day is tomorrow and I will be voting for the Brexit Party. I have decorated the front of my home so no one is in any doubt
  12. Aylestone voice... thanks for your support, it really annoys me when I hear people say that bungalows take up to much room on a possible new build. When I was a councillor and on the Oval Regeneration Group I asked HHL where was bungalows on the plan they said exactly the same as TWG, but I explained that there were elderly people living in 3 bed houses that could be allocated to families if they built bungalows, I also said I was on planning committee and if they didn't consider bungalows I would vote against the application, they come back with an offer of 8 bungalows, I told them I wanted 16, they agreed, hence the bungalows near to the Oval shops. I have a reputation of speaking my mind please or offend, but people know where they are with me. So if anyone is disrespectful to elderly or disabled people I come down on them hard. I* am telling everyone on here for future reference!!!
  13. twowheelsgood ... you are WRONG,! I was invited in to one of the residents home yesterday and I saw the plans (not yet agreed by council) and there are 12 not 24 bungalows, and they ARE NOT A POOR USE OF LAND they are no bigger than the ground floor of a 3 bed house. insidently Beattie Ave has always been for elderly, disabled children and adults accommodation with the exception of 14-16 houses across the Hunderton Road. I was born in Hunderton so I know what I'm talking about. Maybe when you are elderly you will be looking for this type of accommodation or someone in your family, the elderly are entitled to live in these bungalows!!!
  14. Roger..., I went to see the residents yesterday afternoon they tell me the back gardens on right hand side are being used for 10 new bungalows in a small area at the top of the road by the old houses and 4 on the other side the rest are 1,2,3 bedroom houses. The build has gone out to tender, but the plans have not gone to planning as yet. While I was there workmen were putting mettle grids on the windows and doors of the empty prefabs.
  15. Roger... the people range from 50 to 85 with three of them disabled in wheelchairs, there was a family with disabled teenager and the bungalow had to be extended to the rear of the property, some needing 24 hr care. The prefabs are 60 years old but they were well maintained and spacious inside, and had beautiful gardens, well maintained by the more agile tenants.
  16. As long as it is a BREXITEER, not someone like Theresa May, In my opinion she SHOULD NEVER just walk in to the job of Prime Minister, there should of been an General Election to chose the PM, and definitely not a Remainer to negotiate our coming out of the European Union. The people spoke in June 2016 to Leave, well lets just get on with it!!!
  17. Colin, from what I heard the new administration Alliance as quoted in HT, the Independents are going with the remaining Tories to form the administration of 29 councillors. So don't hold your breath, but I'm ready to fight if we have to! Glenda
  18. Due to the front page story in HT, having read it I rang HHL Sharon Rivers she said.... there is no plan submitted and Keepmoat will not be the builder, it will go out to tender once the planning application goes in front of planning committee and accepted. In the meantime the prefabs will have a cover put over each prefab, the sheds will be pulled down, and the rats situation will be dealt with, I asked her what the timescale is for all this work to commence she said hopefully in two weeks. I asked her was she aware of the story in HT, she said yes, and they have received many phone call , including mine today.
  19. With two accidents this week Monday at St Martin Street and tis morning by Asda do you not think we should start up again for lights to be off or remove altogether and go back to having a roundabout system, also consideration of a tram line down GWW. Glenda
  20. The new Hereford Mayor was been sworn in on Monday evening its in HT, one comment underneath is asking about Cllr Mathews and his "alliance" rumour has it that the independents and others member s of the "alliance" used that as a ploy to get elected, as the independents is getting into bed with the Tories to run the council. When I was a councillor the independents always came down on the side of the Tories, but I DIDN'T, funny how Phil Edwards became deputy chairman to Brian Wilcox on the council since 2015, but he ALWAYS sided with the Tories on every decision made. The people of Hereford has been "hoodwinked".
  21. ragwert, well everyone I spoke to loved them, I used to go down there every week when I was their councillor for chat and a cuppa.
  22. AylestoneVoice... for what I saw at the count you could be right, better the devil you know and all that. With the "alliance" councillor arguing amongst themselves who is running the council?
  23. I saw the proposed application for Beattie Ave at a meeting with HHL, then everything went quiet, I then found out there was a problem with Keepmoat at the Oval development not paying their workforce from Wales, the worked stopped for 3 months, hence the delay of completing the Oval. As the original application for the Oval was scrapped because Keepmoat wanted a percentage of the houses to sell., and the application was changed. It looks like that's what has happened again at Beattie Ave
  24. No the application I saw was for 74 bungalows 1 & 2 bedrooms, the gardens on the right hand side were very big and HHL was going to take the back gardens to make an access road and build bungalows in the other half to make up the other 30 bungalows and narrow the road at front to stop the racing down Beattie Avenue.
  25. people were taking leaflets to post through doors in their neighbourhood and posters for their cars, windows at home boards for their gardens, and flags, we had a very good reception yesterday we almost ran out of leaflets. Come and see us in High Town next Saturday 18th between 10am and 3pm. Glenda
