  1. The Newton Farm Community Association is the tenants association in 1997 when 23 residents and I first ran it our name was the Newton Farm action group, at that time we wanted to become a charity but the charity commission doesn't recognise an action group so we changed our name to Newton Farm Community Association, between 1997 to 1999 we had got the old hardware shop from the council and turned it into the advice centre, then in 1999 the present people running the advice centre also took over the tenants association Hope this answer your question.
  2. Colin, can you send me a copy of the PDF, its a pity it doesn't look anything like it is at the moment. Funny how a good glossed up few pictures can give the wrong impression. Thats what you call marketing!
  3. WOW! me threatened Never! Thank you for both your posts, I don't feel threatened by you or tenants voice as I have not been privileged to know anything about the tenants voice, absolutely nothing! maybe you be kind enough to enlighten me. PS. In regard to your second post to me indeed I will look into this matter if you would like to advise me with a PM because of data protection for the tenant their name and address. I will deal with it on Monday morning.
  4. smartieno, the real issue is they are built with pre-reinforced concrete (PRC) not bricks, the same as the 2 storey properties across the road which were rendered in 2012. I was elected 11 years ago to represent the residents in the Belmont ward, Belmont, Newton Farm and Hunderton as it stands until 2015, when the three estates become single wards in their own right, so people living in Belmont will be represented by the councillor of that ward. As the elected councillor living in Newton Farm I sit on the housing management group for HH which is to look after the people interests who live in the area of the Oval redevelopment (see my letter in the HT this week). I would also like to advise you there is already a tenants association in Newton Farm that was started by myself and 23 other residents it has been going since 1997, it is now a part of the Advice Centre in Newton Farm.I will carry on the work the people elected me to do, which a part is dealing with tenants problems, therefore I will not be pointing people in your direction, if the people wish to contact you that is up to them but the majority of tenants either contact me direct or through the advice centre.
  5. Just received my tax bill its gone up by £17 a month.
  6. I have had many tenants approach me because some of the rendering on the walls of the Kilvert Road flats have become loose because of all the wet weather we have had, therefore it was removed. Tenants concerns is the flats will now become damp. I have had assurance from HHL that if that happened any damp etc would be put right regardless of the flats being part of the regeneration of the Oval.
  7. Denise, as I said in a previous post when BB to over from Amey they gave Amey staff a job telling them their contract would be reviewed after 3-6 months, the 3-6 months is up, so I can only thing they chose the best of Amey staff and let the others go. Like there are more staff going at the council, some of them having been there years.
  8. According to the HT at 9.27am today a 27 year old man will be in court this morning charged with armed robbery at Cashino gaming, they found a hand gun and money when he was arrested.
  9. I have now received a reply from HHL. The lady concerned has moved from the temporary accomodation three weeks ago to a property she had bid for through Homepoint and which meets her needs. As a ward councillor I am able to ask questions and get answers from Both HC and HHL normally within 24 hours on housing matters. To clarify when someone is or has become homeless they are dealt with through the council which has private properties for families to rent or if there is only one person or a couple they normally go into bed and breakfast accomodation. There is a standard rent for these properties and the money for these come from Central Government which has to be applied for on a yearly basis, if the people are on benefits there is an enhance payment to cover the total cost of the rent, therefore their rent is paid in full. On occasions a housing company of which there are 6 who are registered with Homepoint allocates temporary accomodation for up to 3 months to people who are homeless until they either bid on properties through the homepoint system or who are allocated properties big enough for their needs.I hope this is of help if anything like this is discussed here in the future.
  10. I have received a reply by email from my initial question to Herefordshire Council this afternoon, the reply is the family concerned will be receiving an enhanced rate on their housing benefit to cover this.I will be speaking again to officers from the council tomorrow morning. As yet I have had no reply from HH because the officer I needed to speak to was in a meeting until lunchtime by which time I had left myself to attend a meeting until 6pm tonight. because of this I was assured that the officer from HH would contact me tomorrow morning, if I do not hear from them I will contact them again. Phil, thank you for including me into your email to the CE and officer of HH.
  11. I have gone through to HC and HHL for a breakdown of these costs, and advised them that I want an answer by the end of today. Whatever they both say to me I will post here.
  12. I remember reading it somewhere that two from north of city and one from Hunderton were all drug related the man down by the pond was from Newton Farm and his death was unexplained.
  13. Roger, I asked HH about the life span of the windows and it is correct, I had my windows change in 2012 and they had been in place 10 years. I also asked if the rubble from the demolision of all these flat in the redevelopment was going to land fill, they said NO the stone will be crushed and sold to a reclamation yard, I suggested it could be used as hardcore beneath the foundations of the new units, I was told they would consider that.
  14. before Amey lost the contract to BB I was talking to some of their workforce they told me that those Amey staff that were left was taken on by BB on a 6 months trial basis, at the end of that period they would all go through a second interview for their jobs if BB did not think they had done their job properly they would be made redundant. This is probably the result 30 jobs lost!
  15. Dippy- yes I did mean University, when I was younger a College was a University. This is one of many iconic buildings in Hereford and I would rather see it turned into a University than pulled down, because if the council allows the fire station to move there thats what will happen! and the building would be lost forever! Call me old fashioned but I like the old building in Hereford its a part of the city character. Like many of youI have had enough with this Administration of Herefordshire Council and the 8 people that make up the cabinet DO NOT live in Hereford so what they do don't bother them, I wonder what Cllr Braemer would say if we wanted to sell some of his assets (last count six castles) the shoe would be on the other foot then!!!
  16. As one councillor who tries to answer your many questions, I personally feel as the council has agreed to a Herefordshire College why don't they use this building, it has many offices large enough to be classrooms and more ground that is first thought which extends outwards in the back, plenty of cars space what more could the college ask for.
  17. Windows have a life span of around 8-10 years, they had been installed longer than this, also HH have not got any flats of this type that they could put them in.
  18. I noticed the HT took there story and photo from Hereford Voice which they acknowledged, they even quoted one of my posts.
  19. It took me 45 minutes to come home at 4.30pm from Town Hall to charlton Ave. I got a taxi because I was laden with shopping that cost me £8.50.
  20. All the tenant of this block of flats have all been offered and taken other accomodation else where relevant to their needs.
  21. Just a way of explanation as asked for:- Each Cllr has a claim form for a month say March you fill it out for each meeting you attend in that month, which is paid to you the following month, therefore what you claim in March you are not paid until April. you have to state the following on the form: 1. date of meeting 2. approved duty. 3. Start point and address 4. Place of meeting 5. finish point and address 6. number of miles travelled , also whether taking another cllr as passenger and their name. 7. mode of transport rail, bus, taxi etc 8. a receipt for money claiming. If you attend a meeting you are not a member of i.e cabinet or scrutiny you cannot claim. You cannot claim substance costs (food)unless you are attending meeting away from Hereford and your attendance has to be approved, if you stay over night it must only be in 2* accomodation and travel on trains is second class only. As an example a few weeks ago I attended cabinet meeting where the budget was being discussed as I am not a cabinet member I could not claim travel allowance, and you are no longer able to ask questions at that meeting only through your group leader. Hope that explains the procedure for everyone here.
  22. when I worked at the hospital many years ago I took people down for one of these procedures, they walked down but come back on a bed, not looking as good as when they walk there.I was told it wasn't very pleasant and seeing how they looked afterwards I said I would never have this done myself, and never have!
  23. Surprise, surprise, at 9am this morning a team of BB workmen were clearing water gullies in Charlton Ave, another team was looking at what work is needed in regard to potholes. I went out to speak to them advising I was the local councillor and asked them to look at other sites in Newton Farm!
  24. Flamboyant, I agree with you the expenses were and probably still are extravagent!
  25. I note that all these expences sheets are for 2011-12 since then no councillor can claim for phone calls, computer equipment or food. Only car milage at a reduced rate of 40p a mile.
