  1. The OLM is due to open in the spring, but having travelled via Black Friars street just before Christmas and looked across at the site I am not sure!!!
  2. Having checked the Oval flats had new windows installed around 7 years ago, and other remedial work has been done to some properties to keep them in habital condition, remember the Oval redevelopment is a 6 year project, and unless anything has changed that I am not aware of the properties facing Belmont road are the first to go. when the properties are built on the old Vortex site.
  3. Add another one to the list Blockbusters. I wonder what Wilko thinks after paying so much to go into Maylords only to find out a few weeks later Maylords have gone to the wall
  4. John, The land and housing/flats that belong to Herefordshire Council became HHL through stock transfer in 2002, HHL paid nearly quarter of million to Herefordshire Council for the land/stock. Land that was given FREE to HHL as part of the development of the Oval was the Vortex open space land, much to the dismay of the residents living near by and myself, unfortunately the other two ward councilors living in Belmont really pushed it through. He even went with representatives of HHL to a meeting with the cabinet member for housing to make sure the land was given to them.
  5. yes you are right the shop flats were painted in the summer of last year, when they did all the alterations to the other flats so that they match. In the redevelopment of the Oval the shops and flats above will not be demolished because I said the shop owners would not come back, and they echo what I said, and lets face it we need the little shops. I remember about 30 years ago we had a little 'community of shops' butchers, chemist, greengrocer, post office, baby shop etc were all at the Oval which in my opinion we need back especially with 259 properties being built around there. For once HHL listened to what the people said, the flats will be modernised to a high standard. As the local councillor living in the area of development I sit on the housing management group for the development to over see that the tenants moving out are disrupted as little as possible with a new development, they will be help to move where they want to go if they are not coming back to the new development, either way, I have made sure they will not be financially out of pocket, and HHL has agreed to this.
  6. Not to my knowledge!!
  7. H.Wilson, you have got the information mixed up. The flats that were upgraded and received new windows are the two storey two bedroom flats and three bedroom cornish houses in the streets behind the Oval, which included the flats that were bought. The cost to these people who have bought their flats was nearly £7,000 each for the renovations, tenants of HHL had their rents increased, which is normal practise by HHL every year. If you live in a block of two storey flats and you have bought yours any renovations done is a quarter of the total price to those people.
  8. I saw men from BB on Christmas Eve morning in a tanker going up Charlton Ave I stopped them and ask as they had the right equipment for the job could they clear the water that had accumilated on the road they said they were on the way to another flooded road but would come back, and they did staying for about an hour to clear the road. It wasn't until I went out to thank them that I told them I was the local councillor living in the area!!
  9. Whilst it is good news about extra funding for CCTV in Hereford, that does not mean additional CCTV will be installed, that said I have put in a request for CCTV on the GWW to complete the work I had done in September cutting back of undergrowth and trees, lighting renewed etc, due to people and children being attacked up there, the latest was three weeks ago in broad daylight, the lady sustained injuries and was admitted into hospital.
  10. The meetings are always at 6pm on Wednesday, anyone giving a presentation or coming to speak are heard first, then we get on with the planning meeting afterwards.
  11. Colin, forgot to mention before, I am on the city council planning committee, see you there!
  12. Just a thought if you want to arrive at Brockington and block the car park, you should note the following: After 20th Dec offices closed until 3rd January. There are also parking meters in the car park. Brockington up for sale so you have to be quick. Phil, don't class all councillors the same, I am not rubbish ask the people in Newton Farm!
  13. I went to a meeting yesterday about the old livestock market with the developers, and I asked the question as to why the covered footbridge that was in the plans for the development had not been built their excuse was the expance of area was to big between the old market and high town, and shared space in newmarket street would have crossings, I asked what about the visualy impaired their answer was there would be sensors telling them when traffic was coming, and the traffic would be moving at 20mph. I then said it would be safer to have the underpass as well, open them back up the answer "they are filled with concrete". Many councillors asked questions and got the same answer, only one councillor from the oposition agreed with the developers together with the Conservatives. The meeting lasted just an hour in total, and in my opinion it was a sheer waste of time!
  14. Two reasons I know about is because it is in a conservation area it has to be reinstated as it was before, the other was that as it is privately owned they could not agree on the amount of insurance payout, that was about 18 months ago. As i said in my previous post I saw men working there.
  15. Harry, this has been aired a lot on here, but as you said you are new to the site. I was in town on Thursday and was surprised to see men in hard hats working on the site as I could see through some of the the boarding, mind you if you were not close to it you would not be aware of this. Councillors have been on about this for quite some time but they do not seem to be in a hurry to complete the work.
  16. The Independents had a briefing from the people base in Rotherwas who have a tride and tested state of the art system to dispose of waste whilst heating homes a couple of months ago, maybe it is the same one as Jim mentioned and Simon the Independents ARE TALKING ABOUT HEREFORDSHIRE, not just the city.
  17. My allergies come from being diabetic and from medication for various physical conditions.Just to let you know biomech I do not drink intoxication lichor
  18. I opened my curtains this morning at 7am only to see the traffic building up outside my door, it comes to something when the traffic fills half the roads on the estate trying to get onto the Belmont road.
  19. M Preece, I did not want to go into personal details but now I must to answer you,I have a lot of food allergies, also food I cannot eat because of medication. I have a very bland diet of chicken, beef and salmon.
  20. Sorry Jim I won't be there cannot eat curry full of spices. Glenda
  21. I didn't send it simply because I thought one of our estemed bloggers from the HT would put it on here. I noticed its on facebook
  22. Two cabinet posts and a third in spring next year, also chair / vice chair of scrutiny committees, but as I said we were not interested, they needed us more than we need them! It didn't matter to me what the offers were I made it very clear I wasn't interested at our meeting on Saturday and would be voting against the coalition.
  23. Ragwert, There was no secrecy the Independents do not work like that, it was the fact that being the weekend we could not advise Cllr Johnson of our decision and felt it only fair that he was told before he read it in the press release. As I said the information was leaked, and out of courteousy Colin advised me he knew, and that he was going to put an announcement on here! Dippy, yes we were offered incentives to join them, and then they went back on it, but it would of made no difference, we had contacted the electorate in all of our wards we represent, and they said Not to join them, and we went with our constituent wishes.
  24. Adrian, If you look on the other post Hereford Times News, I said I would send it to HV the same time it goes onto my website. No response from the Tory's yet!
  25. Someone leaked our decision to H&W radio, so yes I can confirm there will be NO COALITION BETWEEN THE TORY'S AND INDEPENDENTS! You will be able to read our full press release in either the Journal and HT this week!
