At the last Belmont parish council meeting begining of this month the paish chairman Cllr Edwards said he had requested grit bins to be placed on Belmont estate, if you live in Belmont ask him where they are!

Since my site visit last Wednesday with Amey manager Justine Heath that I arranged,and the report I posted earlier regarding yellow box at Tesco roundabout, I have this afternoon spoken with Justine Heath, although it is not possible to have a yellow box without traffic lights,I am of the opinion lights would only make the matter worse, I have come to a compromise with Amey to paint "keep clear" signs on the road at the junction with Northolme Road, Abbotsmead Road and Southholme Road coming onto the Tesco roundabout. this will bring this long over due matter to a conclusio. I hope residents will accept my decision. I will be speaking with Mr Carhill at Amey tomorrow to see how quickly they can do this work, taking into account the present weather conditions.

I did mention that one of my constituents had made the request for yellow boxes in 2008 at the meeting last week. I intend to go and see the "keep Clear" markings this weekend and to see the effect they makeon the traffic. I will then make my report and recommendations to Amey early next week.

:Angry_32: As you know I have been fighting hard to get yellow boxes installed at the junction of Abbotsmead Road to Tesco roundabout. I received the following report today after requesting a site visit which I arranged for last week, and which Cllr Edwards also attended.

:Smile_32: There is a FREE bus service for elderly people to shop in Belmont Tesco every Thursday morning, The bus picks up from Putson, Redhill and Newton Farm. As long as you live on a bus route you will be picked up at your home taken to Tesco to do your shopping and returned to your home. This service is provided Free by Belmont Tesco. At the moment not many people know about, or use it, and if not used we will lose it. So look out for the big yellow or white bus.

In last week Hereford Times Letter page, a resident of Ross Road made an inaccurate statement concerning the GP Walk-in Centre at Asda, contrary to what was written THE CENTRE IS NOT CLOSING! I put the question to Hereford Hospital Trust for clarification at Health Scrutiny committee meeting on Monday 22nd November, their reply was a satelite version of the GP Walk-in centre would remain in South Wye, they took into account the 754 signature petition I presented to Herefordshire Council in May on behalf of the people of South Wye, and the fact that 500 people a week are using the centre.

There are already two park and ride one north one south of the city, the problem is the A465 Belmont road is always blocked with the traffic, what would help is if they turn off the lights at Asda roundabout as Colin James suggested. I remember in 2003 when all this came to Central Planning for Asda and the lights I said it would not work, but I was told I didn't know what I was talking about! seven years later look what we have to put up with!

I have heard from Amey this afternoon and we have arranged the site visit for next Wednesday morning to discuss all work to be done including request for yellow box.

:Angry_32: Ipussycat - The officers set aside the time for the Town Green hearing what we the members were not told was that we were expected to stay until 9pm, The Chairman advised everyone in the gallery why the meeting was deffered, see my other post, the committee felt it was not fair to rush such an important hearing in the interest of both parties. Everybody time was wasted,the committee had been there since 10am at another Regulatory meeting.

Megilleland A slight correction to your post it was initially about Cllr Cutter, but when we went into closed session of the Regulatory committee members other things came to light, essential paperwork was only given to committee members five minutes before the meeting commenced, also we were supposed to have received correspondence advising us that the meeting would go on to 9pm, no member received that correspondence and the majority of members had evening meetings to attend leaving at 5:30pm that would not have made the committee corate. Morag Ellis QC thought that we could either take the meeting to 5:30pm and then come back another day for verdict, or push the meeting that it would end by that time. I and fellow members felt that it was to important to try and cram in everything, and I advised it was not fair to either party to do that. Another Independent Cllr ask for a deferrement and everyone agreed. Please read my other post as I feel the correct message should be given to the public, the committee was advised that if we deferred there would be a cost to pay, but we felt that in the circumstances we had no option but to defere.

The Regulatory Committee of Herefordshire Council met to hear The Newton Farm Town Green proposal yesterday 2nd November, unfortunately it was found necessary to defere the hearing, due to insufficent time was alotted to permit this difficult and high-profile matter to be dealth with. A new date for the hearing will be in either early December or January next year. This will be an all day meeting with a break for lunch to continue in the afternoon.

I attended the Belmont PACT meeting tonight and mentioned the GWW, I made a request for trees/bushes to be cut back, upgrade of lights and more of them in this area. I also requested the trees in Muir Close to be cut, also trees along Waterfield Road and Carwardine Green in Newton Farm. By reporting this at the PACT meeting they must respone to my request.

Yes you are right, Mr Heinze who used to own the Left Bank restaurant did look at the possibility of running a tram between Newton Farm and the Courtyard theatre but he changed his mind and bought the Castle House hotel instead. The cost of putting a tram line in would be a considerable amount of money!

No South Wye police after 10pm untill following morning at 7am, the police station front desk is not open until 10am-2pm or 4pm -8pm on a Wednesday.after those hours you would need to go through the 0300 333 3000 number and ask for Hereford Central Station where they will direct your call.

You have just asked in a roundabout way,the person who can request this is me. Our old friends Amey clears all the trees and I have requested that they cut the trees back around the light standards, I will have another word on Tuesday at the PACT meeting, the lights were updated in 2006 and are of the regulation standard although yes maybe we could do with a few more. I live very close to the GWW and would not walk there in darkness hours, not that I am suggesting I would get attacked but only that it is dark up there. The police CSO's are supposed to check and to be fair I know they cycle up there but of course they can only work until 10pm.

Colin - Having just read three replies to your post 'putting the record straight' I wish to respond to the accusations made about me by Roger Edwards. 1. I am accused of in his words 'slagging off' Mavis Edwards, if you look back I refused to comment to the allegations made about Mavis. I also asked you to take the posts off BV as Mavis was very ill with no hope of recovery. 2. In regards to Cllr Phil Edwards I only said what he himself told me, when I ask him to join BV and that was 'he would he consider coming onto the site when it was more established'. You reiterated that he said that yourself on this site in the last twenty four hours . 3. I have never 'slagged off' Parish Cllr Schoffer on BV, the only time I went back at him was in a confidential email sent to all parish councillors and myself, with almost daily updates of Mavis condition. It was Mark Schoffer who was 'slagging Phil Edwards off' in one of these emails I 'replied to all' and asked where was his compassion at this time (I had just heard Mavis had died) 4. In regard to the BR website I DID NOT close it down, it is not in my power to do that. I advised the web admin that:- a. A fifteen year old girl was to young to be on the website. b.That I had infact been advised that it was someone else who had written it. c. I ask that he removed the emails as the content was libellous, as I work closely with the legal dept on a committee at council and they advised me that was the case. As the BR web admin was unsure who had written the email from 15 year old, and I advised him who the other people were although they used an alias they had infact email me for help as it was their private email address. Because of this the BR admin chose to close the email facility down to protect his website. The local parish election:- I did not, or could not force a parish council election! many people asked me what to do to ask for an election as they did not want anyone co-opted onto the PC. I advised that if anyone called for an election there would be a cost involved, if they decided to co-opt no charge would be forthcoming. I was not advised until three days before the closing date that an election had been requested, and that there were two other candidates had come forward. I WAS ASKED BY MANY RESIDENTS TO STAND FOR THE ELECTION so I did. I would not be allowed to use BV as an election tool, there are strict rules about an election that all candidates have to abide by. I politely ask that Roger Edwards to get his facts right before commenting on my conduct.

megilleland :Angry_32: No other member other than yourself feel this website is dying. The counter of Belmont Voice stands at over 70.500 hardly a sign of it dying! As it has been said by admin on many occasions here the other councillors including the parish councillors have all been invited to join and they have declined, with the exception of one parish councillor. Just for clarity the Belmont Rural website is still in existance and reports on Belmont Parish matters including posting the minutes of the parish council meetings, as it was set up to do for the people living in the Belmont estate, there is also a facility for private email pertaining to Belmont, where residents can post their comments by following the link.... In regard to the Regulatory Committee meeting, all three district councillors have been advised of the procedure and rules of the Regulatory committee in where they stand on the Town Green matter. If you care to read again the page 'about BV' you will see this is a community website for the Belmont Ward which consists of Newton Farm, Belmont and Hunderton, but some of the 44 members also live within the wider South Wye area.

An invitation from Herefordshire Housing to a Families Event has been delivered to all Herefordshire Housing tenants, the event will be on Tuesday 26th October at the Three Counties Hotel, Belmont Rd between 11am-3pm this is during the half term week. They would love to see as many people there as possible to join in and have fun. There will be activities for children of all ages, including: Pottery sessions, fun with music and drumming, story telling, soft play area, Arts and crafts, face painting, balloon modelling ..... and much more. This will be FREE to all tenants, and there will also be light refreshments (juice and biscuits) available, come along and join in. They will also be able to talk to you about further plans around THE OVAL development, and answer your questions and concerns.
