Is this the Newton farmers group that was started up before the election in 2015? as I haven't seen them in action for long time
-
correction! the Oval development is now in its sixth year not one, they are behind because the builders did not pay the workers for 3 months earlier this year and the workforce walked off site that said the subject of this posting was the traffic going down Woodward Ave when it is soley a residential street not a carriageway for all traffic. I supported the turn off of the asda lights but it has not change, and what has that got to do with the Oval? you are doing exactly what the councillor has done blame the roadworks on Belmont road, by blaming the lights at Asda!

Mick I have no intention or desire to get into a argument with you, it is apparent from your replies at the beginning of this post when answering Diligaf that you think it is alright to make Newton Farm into a rat run!!!

Mick, it is you that is wrong! it isn't all local people trying to get out of the Oval otherwise we have no problem, lorries frequently come off Belmont roundabout to get out of the line of traffic I have seen them myself, and I have myself been sat on a bus in traffic for up to an hour when coming out of Tesco and going into town. Ragwert, in the 14 years you haven't lived in Newton Farm things have got considerably worse, I have live in Charlton Ave for 42 years we never had this problem up to 5 years ago, and the development traffic around the Oval definitely hasn't helped the shopkeepers are moaning on a daily basis ( it may have changed in the last 3 months while in hospital for major heart surgery) but in the past 3 weeks Ive been home the traffic is at a standstill again early in the morning outside my home. And before someone tries to correct me again, they have decided not to dig the road up outside my home for some reason they erected the railings yesterday and pulled them down this morning leaving them lying on the grass.

This problem started because people in their wisdom or so they thought saw the traffic at the Belmont roundabout and made a detour down Southolme Rd into Waterfield rd thinking they would get out onto Belmont Rd again via the Oval and they are wrong. People already in the line of traffic on Belmont Rd won't let them exit the Oval (and who can blame them) after standing in traffic for anything up to a hour, the people standing to exit the Oval think they will be willing to let a stream of traffic out in front of them. I see the build-up of traffic every morning outside my home in Charlton Ave at a standstill for anything up to 30 minutes including buses, the fumes from the running engines is not pleasant but that is the official carriage way we are not allowed to moan. The vehicles from the building site at the Oval doesn't help, now today they have dug up the road in Charlton Ave, I don't know why or any reason to do so.

Woodward Ave (Broxash drive) is not a main carriageway but a residential street. The main carriageway around Newton Farm is The Oval, Charlton Ave, Masefield Ave, Waterfield road, Brampton Road where ordinary traffic including buses get around the estate coming into Newton Farm from Belmont road then exiting back on to Belmont Road via the streets mentioned. The builders site office is at the bottom of Woodward Ave any traffic travelling along this street is residents and any site office vehicles. To blame the traffic on road works on Belmont which is past Belmont Abbey is ridiculous!

As I said whilst still a councillor and this road was just being discussed, it will confuse people, and yes I also called it 'the road to nowhere'. This video has proved me right!

JesseB. An official independent, is recognised by Central Government and the Local Government Association (LGA) in London. When I was a councillor I represented all official independent councillors not only in Hereford but also the whole of the West Midlands as a member of the LGA, I had to be voted into that position by Herefordshire Council and accepted by the LGA. I am surprised (or maybe not) that Chris Chappell criticised the Herefordshire Independents as he join them a few years ago because he was the only Labour councillor in the council, he could of joined IOC but chose to join the Herefordshire Independents, and then proceeded to disagree with them, and still does. The leader of independents question the administration and their decisions frequently, also at cabinet level, and one independent is in the HT this week questioning their decision on Housing contractor Keepmoat, he is the chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Ken, see post 13 above they are all the candidates and what party they are standing for. In regards to Kevin Tillett the position he standing for is Parish councillor for the city council. The city council is the parish council. Glenda
-
Ken, Yes it is the same Kevin Tilett, on the electoral website he is down as an Independent, that is why I stated he was. Denise, In this case the City council is also the city parish council, they make decisions at parish level, but then goes to Herefordshire Council. If they agree with the city parish proposals, then they are passed, if not the decisions/ proposals don't go any further. You can be both a Herefordshire county councillor and Hereford City parish councillor. Most people stand in a by-election as a step towards becoming a county councillor.
-
Denise, Neither of the candidates can now stand down, they had until Aug 10 to submit their papers and get them signed by their nominators, which was then accepted by the Electoral people, it is to late to stand down, they have been accepted as a valid candidate. JesseB, there are NOT two Independent groups, Herefordshire Independents is the official Independent group, but as it has been said elsewhere anyone can stand as an Independent. back in 2007 three Independents left Herefordshire Independents group and started up Its Our County (IOC). I am fed up with people saying the Independents and IOC should come together, that will never happen. IOC are not liked or trusted by any other group on Herefordshire council. As an ex-Independent councillor I could tell you a lot, but won't through an open website.
-
Ken, there is a vacancy for the city parish council for Hunderton and Hinton ward. I have just gone onto the website the candidate is Kevin Tillet Independent
-
Ken, as you live in Belmont, your parish council is Belmont Rural Parish Council. You should receive some literature from the person standing,(they are leaving it a bit late to start canvassing). You can also get in touch with the chairman of the parish council and ask for the name of the candidate. Your elected county councillor is Tracey Bowes IOC.
-
Denise, it is my understanding that Peter Jinman was approached by the Cons, but he chose to stand for the Independents.
-
Simeon Cole (Cons) wont win, he tried for 5 years as an Independent in Ross and got nowhere, I know him, he is not liked. IOC did put a candidate up but when he heard Mr Jinman was standing he backed out.
-
The Herefordshire Independents have only one candidate Charles Peter Jinman, he is chairman of the parish council and has lived in the ward for 35 years. The other Independent lived in London until recently and was a fireman there.

Is this not the same woman that was on the traffic island, it looks like one of her tents from there, but I may be wrong
-
I know your not making it up, I was at that meeting myself.
-
Denise, I was also told that Pat Morgan had bought a yacht!
-
Denise, I don't think IOC will mess the by-elections up, I heard tonight that 5 of their councillors have left in the past week including the ones who had already resigned.

Housing Plans - Keepmoat Appointed As Preferred Bidder
Glenda Powell replied to Colin James's topic in Open Forum
As people have said already, the problems at the Oval redevelopment has been continual. I heard a lot of raised voices and bad language one day at the houses that had just been built across the road from me. the workmen had come to fit the kitchens, the houses was dark inside so the workman switched on the lights only to find they would not come on, on closer inspection it was found the houses had been built and no services had been installed, no gas, electrics or water mains, they had to build a 6ft deep trench to put the services in, this was 3 weeks before the people were given their keys. In others floors were not flat, problems in the bathrooms, kitchens and the gardens. While I was the councillor I was getting calls every day from the residents with one complaint or another. Keepmoat has got a very bad reputation in other parts of the country, and now they have got the contract for another 800 houses. I hope they have learnt from their mistakes, but I won't hold my breath on that one. -
To Cllr Chappell, my information came straight from the horses mouth , Paul Rone. I still have my contacts in the council. Pat Morgan is going on a world cruise, and Paul is taking her cabinet portfolio.

Son of Gridknocker - Kate Ade is at the Courtyard on the 5th September, not the 8th, I have already bought my ticket. My Mother worked a Rotherwas munitions factory on Blue watch, luckily she had gone off shift and was home when the bomb dropped, but I remember her telling me the blast was so big the house walls shook. Looking forward to meeting Kate Ade.

Having made some inquiries today I have been advice by a good source, Mrs Lamputt has been taken to the Stonebow Unit, but not without a fight !!!

I was told tonight by good authority that there will be three by-elections happening Graham Powell, Pat Morgan and Mark Mancell. Pat Morgan cabinet member for adult social care and wellbeing will go to Paul Rone , and Paul Rone cabinet position will now go to Barry Durkin. Charles Nicholls will stand as candidate for Independents in Kings Acre ward to replace Mark Mancell (IOC). Cllr Lester will take the place of deputy Leader of the Council replacing Pat Morgan.
