This is the gate to our city and look at the state of it! Council should be ashamed, pity Cllr Phil Edwards did not highlight this sign in his recent photo shoot in the HT

Should criminals with community service orders not be seen to be clearing up litter? I do not think I have ever seen anyone with community service clearing up litter, unless I am going around with my eyes closed.

Central Park Spring Play Day - Saturday 21 March
Bill Thomas replied to twowheelsgood's topic in Bartonsham
This looks like its going to be a good day. -
I notice it says confirmed candidates are you waiting for any others?
-
I am in favour of this, I have pm'd you Colin with my donation offer towards the cost of an advert.
-
What about using the site logo 'having your say' or taking an extract from About HV
-
Yes I like the idea. I have recently made a small donation to help Colin with the costs of running the website, using the donation button on the front page but I am more than happy to donate to this cause too.

I used to be against the police carrying guns in the UK but times have changed dramatically, particularly over the past 3 years. I would not want to be a police officer these days without personal protection, a taser gun is pretty useless against a gun or some nutters running at you with a machete. I think its time for a re-think. We need our police officers to be able to react quickly to a serious incident and not have to wait for armed police to arrive and to also be able to protect themselves, more often now you see police on their own, this is unheard of in Europe, cuts backs you could blame.

Broadleys Pub Planning Application - Co-Operative Store
Bill Thomas replied to Colin James's topic in Planning
There seems to be a lot of this happening old pubs being turned into express stores but like Colin I would much rather see a Toby Carvery here. -
Phil, you have posted your letter on the forum, I have commented on this topic, if you do not want comments then you should not of posted your letter, you should of just asked a question about the Hereford Housing Solutions Team. You do not like criticism that is evident, I have no words because what ever people write you attack if it is not want you want to read. I am not being nasty at all, I am merely commenting on what is in front of me.

Hmmm, first of all I am confused and picked up the story half way through because your link does not work. Secondly, I see you are making demands again and asking for apologies which you appear to be fixated and thrive upon, almost as if by apologising to you is absolute proof that you were right. You go on to complain about being approached and questioned but it's okay for you to do the very same thing to others, I have noticed this in several of your posts, is this not double standards? I realise that you are trying to help people but I still think you go about it the wrong way if I am totally honest, you come across too intense and full on, maybe you should take a step back and have a slightly more polite approach, you are too keen attempting to prove that everyone else is wrong all the time and that you know better. You have asked for comments and I have tried to be as honest as I can be with the information available.

Lets hope that there is an application over the coming months which will start this process for local businesses.- 71 replies

I think I just meant to say that violent crime in Hereford over the past few years seems to be on the increase, well it does to me, another unnecessary tragic incident

This is becoming more and more common over the past few years in Hereford, what on earth goes on...

HEREFORDSHIRE Council made £1.9 million profit in car parking charges in 2013/14 - more than £300k than the previous year. In figures released by the RAC Foundation, Herefordshire Council was 89th out of 353 authorities in the amount it made from parking tickets, permits and penalties. It collected £1,880,000 in the last tax year compared to 1,563,000 in 2012/13. Overall in 2013/14 councils in England made £667 million from their day to day, on and off street parking operations. After capital charges the net surplus was £549 million. By law any surplus must be used for transport projects. The figures are taken from an RAC Foundation report - based on financial returns sent from local councils to the government While some of the increase in surplus is down to rising income, there is also evidence many councils are cutting operating costs. The authority with the largest surplus in 2013-14 was, once again, Westminster with £51 million. From this HT article

Relaxation Of Hot Food License In Hereford...
Bill Thomas replied to Colin James's topic in Hereford Voice Projects
Well this is encouraging news Colin, I am sure that your long campaign has had an impact my friend. Common sense prevails but it's long overdue and some of the damage will take a wile to reverse. I know a lot of people who have avoided Hereford nightlife at the weekends simply because half the places are closed in the early hours and by 2am it's like a ghost town.- 71 replies

Herefordshire Councils Cabinet approved route SC2 as the preferred route for the Southern Link Road. The Southern Link Road will address specific transport problems in the South Wye area and promote economic development by unlocking the barriers for both housing and economic growth. The new route is planned from the A49 to the A465 (with a link to B4349) Councillor Phillip Price, cabinet member Infrastructure said, I am delighted with the decision made by cabinet today. This road has been talked about by Herefordians for some forty years and at long last we have negotiated the first hurdle to making it a reality. The new road represents the first phase of a western relief road with aspirations for it to extend to the A49 in the future. More importantly in the short term, the road supports the councils Core Strategy by unlocking much needed development land and easier access for businesses coming to and from the Enterprise Zone in Rotherwas. I am pleased to also say that the Highways Agency in its response to the Consultation is supportive of the approach being taken by the Council. My ambition for the county has always to ensure economic viability for business which in turn supports the development of more homes and the creation of more jobs; good news for everyone living in the county. Public consultation took place in July and August 2014 which looked at four shortlisted routes. Following consideration of the feedback, a detailed appraisal of three alternative routes suggested by the public and third parties also took place. Each of the three additional routes were appraised. The final routes were appraised in terms of engineering considerations, economic outcomes, impact to the environment, and an assessment of the social implications. With Cabinet approval now gained for the SC2 route, a planning application will be submitted before the end of the year. The cabinet report and the preferred option report can be viewed on the councils website HC Article

Old Market Hereford Shops Close Early
Bill Thomas replied to Colin James's topic in Edgar Street Grid and Courtyard Theatre
ragwert, seasonal opening hours were in operation at B&Q as far back as 2006 when my son worked there and as far as we are aware it was the same before he joined the company. This is a slightly separate topic to the one started here though. We were in town and have just got back, I noticed that the new Pandora shop has their opening and closing times at the bottom of their door and it states 6pm. In my opinion car park prices should be reduced of parking should be free after 6pm then. Disappointing.
