I came out of my house yesterday at 5am to go to work and saw water cascading from the pavement next to the stores on the corner of Kilpeck Road. The day before, Welsh Water had alerted us earlier that evening, through an automated telephone call, that we would be experiencing discoloured water. 35 hours later the water is still running. Anyone know what is going on as there is no statement on the WA website? The loss of water must be fantastic and wasteful.

I agree with you Bobby. Smart speakers, virtual assistants or smart home speakers many people consider them the future of home automation, not only controlling other smart home devices like light bulbs and smart locks but also contain within them the ability to manage your life style and record this week’s shopping list. Along with smart meters which the private utilities are promoting all this technology appears hunky dory. Unfortunately these gadgets are not for your benefit, but to extract data which can be sold onto other service sectors and government and cut jobs. Taking the smart speakers (eg Google Home, Amazon Echo , Apple HomePod) if you can carry out instructions and the unit responds there is obviously a two way function that causes it to operate. Therefore if the speaker hears your command and understands what you require, it follows that it can understand all conversations within its surroundings and could transmit these conversations to other interested parties (ie scammers). Installing what appears to be a novelty product into all homes the government will have access to all that is going on in the country. Select some key words and everyone will be monitored for better or worse. No need for identity cards which the government tried to introduce a few years ago - have a free smart meter instead - not only will we know who you are, but also what you are doing. I think I will still read my own gas and electricity meters - it only takes a second. Also out of interest I asked Alexa who are the Rothchilds - it failed to answer!

I cycled tonight from Newton Farm to Lichfield Avenue, Tupsley. My route was along Great Western Way, along the river to the old bridge and across the cathedral close into St Owen Street, then down Ledbury Road to Lichfield Avenue. I came across at least six cyclists without any lights between the Great Western Way and the Cathedral. In all cases young men with hoodies. The worst example was a cyclist cycling at great speed down the Ledbury Road - no lights or high viz, I could not catch the person up. Had anyone walked out between parked cars they would have been bowled over by this stupid individual.

Maybe this is why some people cycle on the pavement. This scheme came about because of this: Nice to see Cambridgeshire are not bothered.

Obviously not kept in the loop Chris!

Although there are "No Cycling" signs at both ends of the footpath from Grandstand Road (by the betting shop) to Holmer Road (Texaco Filling Station), this notice has been attached to railings alongside the path facing towards the industrial estate (Howdens).

Some photos. You can see where the Pedicabs crew have found the edges to the cycleway and cleaned it up.

Spoke to them today working on the verges of the cycleway opposite ALDI. Doing an excellent job tidying up the route. Any suggestions or particular issues email them at above. I mentioned the build up of compressed leaves on the bends under the railway bridge at Barton Road. It's turning into a skid pan.

Chris read post 67, but then it could be fake news which the BBC is good at pushing out, especially when it concerns Brexit.

Looking at Shire Hall I cannot see how they can alter the interior structure without it affecting its Grade II listing. Interestingly Historic England list the building Grade II* (which puts it in the top 5.8% of listed buildings in England) There are around 500,000 listed buildings on the The National Heritage List for England (NHLE) Grade I buildings are of exceptional interest, only 2.5% of listed buildings are Grade I Grade II* buildings are particularly important buildings of more than special interest; 5.8% of listed buildings are Grade II* Grade II buildings are of special interest; 91.7% of all listed buildings are in this class and it is the most likely grade of listing for a home owner. Also the Shire Hall Annexe is also listed Grade II. Out of interest as this is a public asset on the council's property and asset register - what is the asset worth - any valuation?

When it comes to transparency this council leads the way. Having sent them an email: The figures for July, August and September have now been published, but the council decided to not help the enquiring mind by jumbling the dates over this period all in one table. Is this to hide information which would have easily stood out in the original format. Surely not. -

Look to Sheffield: this is how state and corporate power subverts democracy The city’s trees and residents are the victims of a Kafkaesque PFI deal between council and PFI contractor Britain in 2017. Astonishing. This is the sort of thing that causes people to lose faith in civil institutions and ultimately leads to violence. To borrow a thought from JFK, if you make peaceful change impossible, you make violent change inevitable. We are sleepwalking into hell.

In The Guardian today: UK may consider electric vehicle subsidy to increase cycling Roads minister Jesse Norman says government could push councils to do more to fight pollution and inactive living I don't wear high viz often or a helmet. If it becomes another legal requirement the council will only treat it as another cash cow.

I assume it is part of the HC Farms sell off - Glewstone, sub-estate 6. The total guide price for the HC farms is £38,020,000 - just about cover the increased costs of the Link Road and Blueschool House Hub and Fisher German commision - £352,000 according to council contracts. I am sure the real figure for Fisher German's part in this scheme will be far more than £352,000, judging by my past experience of buying and selling my homes over the years. Maybe the true figures will be revealed in time. I see that the original post of HC FARMS has had 21,899 views so far - plenty of interest. -
All comments removed from Hereford Times. Must be hitting a nerve. Two days activity around the cathedral for this visit. Is this where the pressure is?

The council used to publish its expenditure figures for each month very promptly. However the council have since made a decision to publish its expenditure figures only every three months for the periods ending June, September, December and March. This seems at variance with the government's Local Spending Data guidance which states that: The council's delay in publishing their expenditure figures promptly would appear to delay and prevent the public and councillors from seeing the ongoing state of their council's expenditure as in the case of the Blueschool House and Link Road fiascos. Maybe it would be better to go back to the old system, which this council practiced quite easily over the past years, and these problems would be picked up much earlier.
