One of the worst weeds in urban areas is Buddleia seen in railway locations, check out Hereford Station, and found establishing itself on buildings and now in kerbs . Here is a fine specimen attached to the cornice on the old Chadds store in Commercial Street adding further to the blight which is creeping up this street.

Can no one at Balfour Beatty and our councillors see the state of our urban roads in the city which are now getting out of hand. When the use of a garden hoe along the kerb would have removed most weeds we are now in a position that the weeds are so established that the only way to treat them would be with herbicides which in turn cause pollution. So the only answer appears to be is do nothing and our streets on our estates take on the appearance of an outback town - the only thing missing is tumbleweed. Together with the inability to get on top of the litter and fly tipping problems and blocked drains around the area it is apparent that the majority of citizens and those elected to represent us have no pride in our environment - a sad state of affairs. The picture of Glastonbury Festival and the accompanying litter say so much about the state of our country and mindset of those responsible. In Australia they appear to have come up with a safe, pesticide-free method of keeping their streets clean and tidy. And ironically this method is used by Glastonbury Town Council to keep their town clean and weed free. Belmont Road Hereford:

If we Brexit may be we should reintroduce visas for those wishing to travel to the UK. I remember as an exchange student in 1974 I had to visit the US embassy in Grosvenor Square to get a work permit to allow me to cook fudge in Atlantic City. At the moment we have no idea of who is in the country ie suspected terrorists and EU citizens and what they are doing. EU citizens arrive under the freedom of movement. No record of who comes and who goes. The main reasons states impose visa restrictions on foreign nationals are to curb illegal immigration, security concerns, and reciprocity for visa restrictions imposed on their own nationals. Typically, nations impose visa restrictions on citizens of poorer countries, along with politically unstable and undemocratic ones, as it is likelier that people from these countries will seek to illegally immigrate. Visa restrictions may also be imposed when nationals of another country are perceived as likelier to be terrorists or criminals, or by autocratic regimes that perceive foreign influence to be a threat to their rule.[26][27] According to Professor Eric Neumayer of the London School of Economics: "The poorer, the less democratic and the more exposed to armed political conflict the target country is, the more likely that visa restrictions are in place against its passport holders. The same is true for countries whose nationals have been major perpetrators of terrorist acts in the past".[26] As some of our political parties continually pursue the open door policy there can only be further trouble ahead. Slowly other countries are realising what UKIP were spouting years ago - get away from the EU administration and restore border controls. We have no idea who is in the country. Maybe time for a compulsory census to restore some normality to our country. As our mystery MP in Hereford is going to retain his seat with a reduced majority I would have to vote Conservative as they are the only party to get us out the EU, but I don't believe it will be a complete break, but a watered down scheme to suit the politicians and not the people. We are heading towards a mass surveillance police state - just the sort of country you want to bring your children up in! To stick to my principles I will most possibly vote UKIP again. I am not against Europeans - just the EU administration.
