  1. Osborne would sell his own grandmother or come to think of it your grandmother as well. Gives selling the family silver a new dimension. The Independent today:
  2. Not if this government gets it way. Even Tony Blair regrets the Act coming into being. I wonder why?
  3. The Independent today: It would be interesting to know what our council is investing our council tax in. I am sure it is all above board. They couldn't be investing in Cameron's warmongering could they?
  4. I see Bill Tanner is now part of Herefordshire Live - the latest media offer from the Allpay group. Allpay wanted to create a game-changer, to bring something new to Herefordshire’s media scene. Live was launched in December 2015 as an exclusively on-line celebration of events, culture, lifestyle and sport that covered what the county was becoming. Behind the scenes is a team of six bringing experience across the media offer to a site packed with content, high quality visuals and stories of those daring to challenge convention and limitation alike. Some of his articles here:
  5. The Independent today: No austerity here. Looks like being a good Christmas if you are banker.
  6. The Guardian today: Not much compassion here considering the thousands of illegals here. Must make this government feel that they are getting on top of the immigration problem.
  7. Having got turned off by the main news as told by the BBC and the corporate media, nothing but wars/terrorism, running down the nation, austerity, spouting EU propaganda I am increasingly reading hard to believe side lined news stories. These raise my hackles and show the UK and world in a new light which is not very pleasant, but supported by governments local and national. Here are some today: 19th December 2015 Fish in Bristol lake to be killed to deter angling Call to limit student numbers in Bath Essex council proposes £25.92 'lifting charge' to help elderly up when they fall Number of foreigners living in the UK tops FIVE MILLION as official figures show how a wave of immigrants have taken advantage of Britain's fast-recovering economy Theresa May risks 'turning clock back 140 years' with plans for fire service It would be interesting to see other peoples choice news items. Add them below
  8. As Groucho Marx exclaimed "There is no Sanity Clause!" - very appropriate for the council's approach to public consultations. They don't believe in what the public wants or says.
  9. Oh you are a devil Clarkester.
  10. Greenpeace links frackers to tax havens So 40% of the plundered nation's wealth goes overseas again. Voted for today and licences up for sale tomorrow - the sales have begun!
  11. The Guardian today: Another promise/pledge broken - did we really say that? If they frack under National Parks then they won't care about fracking under Herefordshire and AONBs. They don't care about people and now they don't care about the countryside. It doesn't really matter, as the Chinese will have bought most of the country and its infrastructure in this government's term. Can't keep a good deal down!
  12. I agree with you Clarkester. The amount of money to build a mile of tramway, as spent already on the existing systems in Uk, is way out of proportion to its benefit. Figures published by the Department for Transport put the average cost of building tramways in urban conurbations at £25 million per mile, though this does not include Edinburgh, where costs have rocketed by £231m and the route has been curtailed due to a funding shortfall. The report came as the true extent of traffic congestion in Edinburgh caused by tram repairs to Princes Street was seen for the first time. The latest figures suggest that, at £776m, the predicted cost of building an eight-mile route connecting the airport to St Andrew Square in the city centre will be nearly £100m per mile. This paper although several years old gives a good background into how these schemes have originated and been costed.
  13. How many people in Hereford realise the connection with Widemarsh Common and this man. The English martyr hanged at the age of 80 St John Kemble (August 22), a much-loved Catholic priest whose execution was horribly botched John Kemble, alias Holland, was born at Rhydicar Farm, St Weonard’s, Herefordshire in 1599. John Kemble (martyr) Appears to be a difference in how he was executed between the articles above.

Historic England - Heritage at Risk Widemarsh Common, Hereford Part of an ongoing scam. Other public open space disposed of here. What does the licence allow and for how long and what is the financial benefit to the licencee if any?
  15. Local Authority Rural Estate Asset Management Planning GOOD PRACTICE GUIDANCE How many HC councillors have read this? Future Of Farming Review Report July 2013 The loss of county council farms is concerning. Government and industry should work together to identify how much these farms contribute to entry and progression in the industry and make further recommendations at that point. In the meantime they should issue guidance that will illustrate the value of these farms and encourage Local Authorities to both retain them and manage them in innovative ways. This is obviously the main problem our councillors have - a lack of imagination.
  16. Everything is up for sale. Buchanan Trust Estate The Buchanan Trust (originally called the Bosbury Trust) was created after the First World War by Robert Buchanan, in memory of his eldest son, Alan, who died in Belgium in 1915. The objective of this charitable Trust is to assist ex-servicemen become settled in agriculture. However, since the Local County Council – Hereford took over the Trusteeship of the Charity in 1972 – very few ex-servicemen have been permitted to benefit. Despite John being a fully qualified beneficiary of the Trust the County Council decided at some point around 2005 to remove John from his farm. This was because of his criticisms of the unfair way they were running the Charity. However, John refused to go and so ended up becoming a squatter on his farm and home from July 2006 until March 2011 when the Trustee was forced by the Charities Commission to reinstate him. PRESS STATEMENT re The Buchanan Trust and John Barron The Buchanan Trust website 1142122 - COUNTRYSIDE RESTORATION TRUST This charity has farms in Herefordshire. 17. The decline of Britain. We will soon be a third world state, where nobody cares especially in authority. And of course 84-86 Widemarsh Street, Hereford HR4 9HG is being sold off.

    War!

The Artist Taxi Driver explaining the economics of keeping Cameron in the air bombing Syria at any cost.
  19. Depends if you are going to gain financially out of this skulduggery.
  20. Bearing in mind that the flytipping on the pathway has now been there for 4 months (See post 90 - 3rd August 2015), it is obvious that Herefordshire Housing has no inspection policy regarding the cleanliness of their estates or any plan to maintain and clean up these areas in the future. People are beginning to think this mess is a permanent art installation.
  21. While we have been fed daily media stories of war and terror throughout this year, culminating in Cameron getting his way on Syria, let's not forget that there are still other matters which are going to seriously affect our lives other than being blown up. €100,000 Reward for Europe’s Most Wanted Secret
  22. Brings back memories of a visit to Poznan, Poland where these buildings in the main square caught my eye.
  23. A bit short notice, but the "Say No to the European Union" is holding a local event at the Three Counties Hotel, Belmont Road, Hereford tomorrow night at 7.30pm. I think you need to register if you want to go and pay a small entrance charge. I will be there to support getting out. We are losing so much control in the UK over our destiny and there is not much time to do something about it.
  24. Get the alternative view of events before Teresa May censors the internet.
  25. Remembrance Day a very important point in our year. However while there is a concentration of minds towards those who fought to maintain our freedom and paid with their lives, this article today in The Guardian reveals the consequences for us if we fail to realise what is happening every other day in the name of freedom. With the government wanting to watch over us at all times and local government assisting them trying to close our libraries, we appear to racing towards a modern form of slavery. Remembrance Day may become the point that we will not only think of those wasted lives, but also remember the freedoms taking away from us and never given back. As a commentator to the article said: "And today we'll watch the Cameron government lay wreaths to commemorate those who died for freedom. The hypocrisy could not be more sickening".
