  1. Looking at two further organisations - note spellings: Venture Family Pastors Information Event @ Union Walk Hope City Church Union Walk Hereford, HR1 2EP According to this plan they have an auditorium of 221 seats. Are they still there? I have never noticed them before. With a possible 450 seat auditorium in the approved Freedom Church application is Hereford to become a pilgrimage and convention centre? When I typed in Vennture this came up: Vennture 2020 ambition is to become ‘the natural first choice provider of volunteer led social impact’. It wants to develop 6 hubs across Herefordshire supported by £3m revenues, £5m assets and equip 2,500 people with skills and thinking to help other people – including those most vulnerable. I understand that Herefordshire Council are "out sourcing families to Vennture4Family using a Family Pastor in a scheme called Herefordshire Families First. A friend has a relative who is being "helped", but they get the feeling that V4F are coercing them into doing things, I think they have no lawful authority to do. Anyone had dealings with V4F?
  2. While looking at this site I noticed this statement: Beware of the TPP! Project Gutenberg is concerned about a new secret international treaty, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This will extend copyright term protection worldwide, thus halting the growth of the public domain. To learn more, and join Project Gutenberg in speaking out against this treaty, visit The Internet Archive. It appears this is affecting many aspects of our life.
  3. Use your vote today. Vote today up to 10pm at the Belmont Community Centre, Eastholme Avenue, Belmont.
  4. Can you join Emma, John and Maria next Saturday in Hereford and South Herefordshire to spread the word about TTIP, the dangerous trade deal between Europe and America? Please sign up in the next 24 hours so the office team can send you a pack with leaflets and petition sheets to get members of the public to add their name to the massive petition against TTIP. Meeting on Sat 22nd Aug 2015 Location: Near Waitrose When: Saturday 22nd August 11.00am Attendees: John, Deverson, Sara and 10 other 38 Degrees members There’s a deal being decided in secret between America and the EU that could threaten our way of life. It could weaken our laws, threaten the future of our public services and let even more bee-killing chemicals on to our fields. All this, plus it could give corporations the power to sue the UK if they don’t like our laws. The deal is called TTIP - short for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and its like a wishlist for big corporations. But most people still don’t know what TTIP is - or how much is at stake. So Emma, John and Maria and other 38 Degrees members who live near you are meeting to try and change that. They’re meeting on Saturday 22nd August at "Near Waitrose" to talk to members of the public about this dodgy deal - and how together, we can stop it. Can you join them? Talking about this deal is the last thing politicians will want us to do this summer. But that’s not stopping 38 Degrees members from going out in our villages towns and cities across the UK, spreading the word about TTIP. Together, we can make sure the public turns against this dodgy deal, making it impossible for politicians to pass it. Robert Reich was onto this at the beginning of this year. The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is the largest--and worst--trade deal you've never heard of and Republicans in Congress want to work with the Obama administration to "fast track" its passage. Listen to what he says in this video: What happens in America today, happens in the UK tomorrow!

  7. Called into Herefordshire Housing this morning to draw their attention to further litter louting. It appears that some bags were taken from the shop and spread about the skate park. Why are they not using steel bins which can be locked to stop this constant mess? The refrigerator and black bags are still in Sherborne Close. (see post 90)
  8. Was in Tewkesbury today, It has reduced its long stay car parking charges from £8.50 - 3 hours or longer to £4.00 - 3 hours or longer purely because the visitors were staying away. Makes sense.
  9. All cleared except Sherborme Close again. Black bags and refrigerator still there. Also noticed the electric sub-station has a mass of debris inside it, thrown over the wall.
  10. Following the article in The Hereford Times about what a marvellous job our council are doing regarding recycling and waste collection, the news has been welcomed by former county councillor, John Newman, who had raised concerns that the alternate collections would see rubbish dumping and related vermin infestation when the idea was first considered back in the spring of 2014. Here are a collection of photos taken today on my ride to work. All were taken between Muir Close and Goodrich Grove a distance of 400 metres. These piles of rubbish have been festering on the streets for between one and two weeks and no-one is concerned especially the Council and Herefordshire Housing. The label states that the black bags will not be removed because they contain unacceptable items. Does that mean they will be perpetually gracing our environment?

  15. I do not know what the outcome was in Mary Kidson's case above, but the Council is now threatening another parent. More good work by our caring council. If the mother is jailed this will be far more damaging for the child than missing a few weeks of education. Maybe we can introduce compulsory attendance at council meetings for councillors with fines and jail for missing meetings.

  18. More flytipping at Sherborne Close - mattress and black bags. The whole area looks scruffy and also noticed stuff left on pavement at other end of Sherborne Close. A notice has been put up which spells it out for residents. Round the corner there is piece of land backing onto the garages at Muir Close which hasn't been cut for over a year. Is it the Council (Balfour Beatty), Herefordshire Housing or Muir Housing. Can a councillor clarify?
  19. What Debt Resistance UK have found is a cabal of private financial firms, banks (RBS, Barclays), brokers (ICAP, RP Martin and Tullet Prebon) and advisors (ICAP and CAPITA) acting in unison to plunder the public purse, costing taxpayers millions.
  20. Freedom of Information request for details of Herefordshire Council LOBO loan borrowing and brokerage arrangements Currently waiting for a response from Herefordshire Council, they must respond promptly and normally no later than 10 July 2015. Mr Benjamin is writing to quite a few authorities - 2 interesting replies so far. Mr Joel Benjamin was involved with making the Channel 4 programme.
  21. The LOBO loans referred to in the programme are used by Herefordshire Council in two instances: It would be interesting to know what these loans are covering. Most councils appear to use this form of creative accounting. Even the Tewkesbury Admag has picked up the situation in Worcestershire.
  22. Channel 4 Dispatches tonight 6th July at 8pm and repeated on 10th July 2015 Reporter Antony Barnett travels from the southern tip of England to Edinburgh to uncover financial deals between cash-strapped councils and banks that are now costing taxpayers millions of pounds a year. He tracks down the banks that made enormous profits from offering complex loans to local authorities and speaks to insiders who reveal how these deals have left some councils with mammoth interest bills to pay at a time of huge pressure on public services.

  25. From This is Money: Bank of Scotland damned by judge as 'unconscionable' after it 'double billed' mortgage borrowers who fell into arrears Borrowers were paying arrears through higher monthly payments - but still faced possession proceedings A piece posted this week concerning Bank of Scotland and Santander involved in ongoing court appearances in Northern Ireland for fraudalent practices involving mortgages. Do people really understand what they are signing up for when they purchase a house and do the banks want you to know? Someone tries to explain it.
