  2. A friend has just made this comment: Yes I do. Where will their congregation park? Any redevelopment here should be retail orientated with a library or galleries. Also as a church there will be a loss of business rates. Who doesn’t need to pay Business Rates Exemptions include: * farm buildings and land (excluding buildings used as offices or for other business activities) fish farms * places of public religious worship, eg registered buildings and church halls (except in Scotland - you apply for relief for these buildings instead of being exempt) * buildings used for training or welfare of disabled people (except in Scotland - you apply for relief for these buildings instead of being exempt)

  7. I don't think it will be the trees casting a shadow over the houses, as the sun follows an east west axis during the day and the houses lie on this line. In the Goggle map screen shot below you can see the shadows are cast across the Belmont Road. It will be the houses themselves that are the cause of a lack of light, which you can see by the old flats in the background of the screenshot. I say this before someone goes berserk with a chain saw and chops all the trees down. We are losing too much established natural greenery in the name of development. How many years have these trees been standing here? However there will be plenty of sunshine at the back of the properties, especialy if they have gardens.
  8. Not sure if the links for this application are on HV. Here is the PLANNING NOTICE NOTICE UNDER ARTICLE 13 OF APPLICATION FOR PLANNING PERMISSION ACCOMPANIED BY AN ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT and the Planning Application (P151314/F) here with 107 supporting documents, but no representaions from the public - strange.
  9. Planning application with drawings in for total renovation of cottage. Not sure how much of the original will be utilised, but at least the building and its history will be saved for posterity.
  10. He was going to be the UKIP candidate in the General Election, but for some reason he was dropped and Nigel Ely put in his place. Another example of bad planning by yet another opposition party.

  12. Does this map from the Environment Agency have a bearing on what can be built in this area? Groundwater source protection zones What are Groundwater Source Protection Zones? Groundwater provides a third of our drinking water in England and Wales, and it also maintains the flow in many of our rivers. In some areas of Southern England, groundwater supplies up to 80% of the drinking water that you get through your taps. It is crucial that we look after these sources and ensure that your water is completely safe to drink. We have defined Source Protection Zones (SPZs) for 2000 groundwater sources such as wells, boreholes and springs used for public drinking water supply. These zones show the risk of contamination from any activities that might cause pollution in the area. The closer the activity, the greater the risk. The maps show three main zones (inner, outer and total catchment) and a fourth zone of special interest, which we occasionally apply, to a groundwater source. We use the zones in conjunction with our Groundwater Protection Policy to set up pollution prevention measures in areas which are at a higher risk, and to monitor the activities of potential polluters nearby.
  13. I see the Greeks are thinking about defaulting next month and the provincial and local elections in Spain yesterday have broken up the two party controls with a group of "citizen parties" gaining many votes. Change looks as if it could be on the way and Cameron and Labour are scrambling to justify that we stay in, only I reckon, to pick up the bill.
  14. With the General Election now over - there is possibly only two years (2017) before we get a referendum on whether to stay in the EU or get out. Having believed we would have had a change of government, nationally and locally by now, I do not have much confidence that any referendum will be conducted fairly in order that the ruling poitical parties get the result they and the EU want. What are the benefits of being in or out for Hereford and the county? Maybe some information and facts through this topic could help us make a reasoned decision when voting, although I think we will be staying in the EU at any cost. Not for the benefit of the citizens, but for all those entwined in the machinations of the EU political and monetary systems.
  15. Before I went to Barcelona last week I sent an e-mail to Cllr Edwards about the flytipping behind Sherborne Close. Returning yesterday, all the debris on both Herefordshire Housing and Council land has been removed and cleared up - a vast improvement. How long it will be tidy for remains to be seen, but well done to all concerned for moving so quickly.
  16. Friday 15th May 2015 Hereford Times News by Bill Tanner, Senior Reporter Maybe Mr Neill can get the Council's monthly expenditure and contracts up to date. The last figures were for January 2015
  17. One working week gone by and no reaction to inspecting and cleaning it up as promised by Herefordshire Housing on Monday. There are now breeze-blocks scattered over the verge adding interest for the passerby. Time to e-mail Cllr Edwards and see if he can get the flytipping removed by the end of next week.
