  1. Following on from my post 12 in this topic, UKIP have now published their 72pp manifesto. So there is more than just immigration contained in it. With only 17 days to go it is time to get down to detail and serious reading. The Conservative manifesto is here The Green Party manifesto is here The Labour Party manifesto is here The Liberal Democrats manifesto is here

  5. The layby bins above have been emptied. Looking at todays papers, The Independent carries this alarming story of the extent of the problem and how bad it is going to get in the future. "Electronic waste worth £34bn piling up in 'toxic mine', warns UN report" and the UK is one of the worst offenders. People have always said that where there is muck there is money, however instead of recycling and making money our council send it to landfill and get charged £80 a tonne to bury it. Why can the council not recycle more? Councillors tell us the reasons. Also in The Independent and may cause more interest than above! Beer drinkers join the fight against fracking with claims it poses a 'substantial threat to the quality of real ale'
  6. Rich Hadley blog here.
  7. I didn't recognise the force until 2:55mins.
  8. With our police force slowly but purposely losing public confidence I posted this earlier under "Fraudulent banks, utility companies and corrupt courts" a video by John Oliver about Civil Forfeiture and how I imagine this idea, already operated by the Office of the Public Guardian, could work its way over here. The police can already seize any assets of crime, but the US police have now taken it to a new level where they can seize assets from the public going about its day to day business. Another example of the corporate intervention within the police forces in the UK, moving towards privatisation could result in police cars being unrecognisible under sponsors' advertising. The Metropolitan police received £23 million in sponsorship deals from various sources and this article suggests it is the thin end of the wedge of police privatisation. Some sponsorship deals have been vetoed, as with the optician who suggested that officers in Hampshire stop motorists, ask them to read a number plate and if they cannot, give them vouchers for a free sight test at the practice. An eye-catching Thresher's logo on a van donated to Avon and Somerset was scaled down after complaints.9 (source The Independent) I suggest that a good line for a hearing aid company would be Hello, Hello.
  9. Integral are used by Herefordshire Council as can be seen in this News Release from 2013. Integral feature reguarly in the council's expenses, that is up to January 2015, as this is the last time the council published its last expenses under transparency rules where you can see records of all expenditures over £500 since April 2010. I wonder what the expenditure has been over the last 4 months, maybe they don't want to tell us till after the election?
  10. Working south of Hereford this week and noticed the state of the litter bins in the laybyes along the A465 between Hereford and Wormbridge/Abbey Dore turns. The photos speak for themselves. It is not only the council in purdah, but also Balfour Beatty and or Highways England. Let's see who is first to say its the other body who should clean this up.
  11. I imagine most people would call them extreme and offensive. A bit like the present political establishment attacking UKIP all the time.
  12. Hereford Civic Society event The Farrell Review - One Year On Thursday 16th April - 7.30 pm start (refreshments from 7pm). The Kindle Centre by Asda, Belmont, Hereford HR2 7JE The line-up of expertise to take us through this discussion includes Charles Campion from John Thompson & Partners, who is overseeing the Collaborative Planning Process for the local Three Elms housing development and Paul Fong of the Gloucester Design Panel, who will inspire us about the workings of his Group. We will also have an update from Max Farrell, hopefully in person, with other interesting contributors in the pipeline. Check HCS website for latest on this. We look forward to seeing you on the night, and do get in touch beforehand if you have a particular interest in this subject. HCS Members free admission. Visitors £3 each, refunded if you join HCS on the night. What is the Farrell Review? This Review is a snapshot in time. It is a broad and independent review of our collective efforts to plan and design our future built environment which in turn shapes the way we live our lives. Explore their conclusions World-class British architect, Sir Terry Farrell, has proposed that every town and city should have an Urban Room – a space in which local people can learn about the built environment. It would be a good idea if Hereford established a similar space - maybe where the burnt out buildings in High Town are.
  13. No, Nigel has claim to this!
  14. Some information on local candidates with mug shots can be found here: South Hereford Conservatives North Hereford Conservatives It's Our County Herefordshire Independents Not all of the above information is complete. IOC do not refer to Wormside and Newton Farm wards. Some of those listed in Herefordshire Independents are not standing again and also the wards are named under the previous boundary system. All rather confusing.
  15. No surprise to see Herefordshire Council jumping on this bandwagon without opening their eyes over the years. They must of had expert advice on this. Even Jesse Norman has said this arrangement is a disaster, but no idea what he is going to do to resolve it. UKIP in their manifesto say: "We will stop further use of PFI in the NHS and encourage local authorities to buy out their PFI contracts early where this is affordable", although we will still be in intensive care as a result! PFI contracts involving Herefordshire Council Refurbished magistrates court Hereford Whitecross High School Hereford County Hospital The waste management project for Herefordshire and Worcestershire
  16. People might like to look at this video of our police force in operation acting for bailiffs. The police should be present to see there is no improper behaviour or breach of the peace but it seems now, the police only act in the interests of the corporations, banks and local authorities. Meanwhile in London's Hatton Gardens the police didn't respond to the alarm alerting them to the jewel thieves removing millions of pounds worth of items from a bank vault. Maybe the full resources of the police force were up here in Moston, Manchester on April 9th 2015. How many officers can you count in this residential raid?

  19. 11th April 2015 Daily Mail: If David Cameron is looking for a new job after the election maybe he could do it. After all he is only on £142,000 a year and £160,000 looks attractive and the council would save the "incentive package".
  20. Amendments to post 27 above: The following underlined from previous administration are standing again. 46 Stoney Street 1 Carol Ann Protherough (Green) 2 James Stokes (IOC) 3 David Charles Taylor (unattached) 4 Steve Williams (Conservative) 53 Wormside 1 Mark Bramwell (Lib Dem) 2 Jon Johnson (Conservative) 3 Jim Knipe (unattached) 4 Paul Thomas (IOC) 44 Ross-on-Wye West 1 Anthony Avery (IOC) 2 Chris Bartrum (Lib Dem) 3 Richard Mayo (Conservative) Ross-on-Wye West is another ward where two existing councillors are standing against each other. The other 2 are Newton Farm and Whitecross. From the previous administration, when adding up the numbers I appear to be 1 name short as I believe ther should be 58 councillors, but I can only find 57. Any suggestions? 21. Thanks for the explanation Glenda.
  22. News Release by Herefordshire Council: An amazing CV. It is a pity that he not addressing the public of Hereford as part of his visit to the city. How do you pack all this experience into one's life. A lot of his talent regarding engineering was spent in the Arms and Defence businesses so are we to expect a revival in the Rotherwas munitions factory ie drones and missiles aimed at Russia?
  23. Gridknocker has sent me some copy to post and I hope that I have got the stats right. Apologises in advance Gridknocker if there are typos. I understand he is detained for the evening!
