  4. I have just noticed that Guy Taylor is attending and speaking. He should be able to bring us up to date on his excursions with UK police and courts.
  5. The British Constituion Conference tomorrow looks quite cheap. A bit different in the EU as it emerges each British family's EU bill has QUARUPLED to £450 A YEAR as new figures showed Britain's contributions to the EU have quadrupled to £11.3 billion in just five years. Plus we are handing over British Sovereignty in the process - doesn't look a good deal to me, but our politicians say it is!
  6. Three strikes and you get closed.

  8. Friday 31 October 2014 in Hereford Times News by Bill Tanner See post 46 for email. Good to see Bill Tanner following this up.
  9. This story was published in the Herefordshire Times on the 29th, but has since disappeared. Quite an important case which merited more attention, especially when other minor stories are given prominence for days.
  10. The Independent 30th October 2014 by PAUL GALLAGHER Did we not meet this lady at one of our Voice gatherings at The Victory? Yet again we see the full force of the state come down on an individual trying to do her best for her daughter when everything else was failing. This on a day when a child in the north of England went blind through neglect and the squalor the child was living in went unnoticed by social services for years. It said social workers had several chances to intervene after concerns raised by doctors and a school nurse, but that the boy’s case was closed twice.
  11. House of Lords Chamber Debate 30th October 2014 started at 16:39:00 mins and ended at 17:34:00 mins 9 Peers giving their views on giving football fans a greater say in the running of clubs. No mention of Hereford. Wimbledon's tale of ground being sold from under the fans comes close to home.
  12. Herefordshire Council Newsroom: 30 October 2014 This cabinet will not lie down and die.
  13. I think these options were already suggested by posters and objectors earlier on in this topic - so savings to be made on producing more feasability reports in the future.

  15. Sit back and they will walk over the ratepayer and electorate - after all when in power, we will be told what is good for us. When I sent out emails to 58 councillors only 23 replied, and many of those said they would support the application, so I am afraid I don't support your confidence in the system. Earlier indication, through officer advice that this application would fail would have saved a lot of money, time and energy in pursuing this futile scheme. I wonder what the outcome would have been if the council had received no objections from an uninterested public, maybe the planners would have gone along with the ideology of the present administration.
  16. Maybe some people are working behind elected councillors and not keeping them in the picture.
  17. Let's hope this is the case. Wonder what could have changed their mind - people power?
  18. I see he attended a meeting on 6th September 2013 with David Powell, Ian Higgs, Kultar Khangura (Pinsent Masons). Maybe they asked him to attend as they probably forgot to get their stories right!
  19. THE HOUSE OF LORDS TV Thursday 30th October 2014 House of Lords - Lords Chamber Baroness Taylor of Bolton to ask Her Majesty's Government what consideration they have given to giving football fans a greater say in the running of clubs. (Topical Question for Short Debate, 1 hour) 5 items before this so no idea when the debate will start.
  20. Also no horse racing or golf at Belmont.
  21. ANNALS OF A CLERICAL FAMILY BEING SOME ACCOUNT OF THE FAMILY AND DESCENDANTS OF WILLIAM VENN, VICAR OF OTTERTON, DEVON, 1600-1621 By JOHN VENN, F.R.S., F.S.A. FELLOW AND PRESIDENT OF GONVILLE AND CAIUS COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE Published 1904 To read about John Venn of Hereford and his contribution and works to tackling poverty in Hereford go to page 193 to 208. An interesting read about John Venn and his time in Hereford. Should be esssential reading for every councillor, especially those on the Planning Committee. It starts off in the following manner: "Mr. Venn stayed about three years at Pinner. In 1833 Mr. Simeon offered him the vicarage of St. Peter's, Hereford, the advowson of which he had recently bought for his trust. Hereford was then such an out-of-the-way place that many people regarded it as lying in Wales. At most of the London coaching offices the people knew nothing about the means of getting there, till some one suggested that there was a conveyance called " the old fish cart," which went there through Worcester. It took, as it turned out, some thirty hours to effect the journey". In fact the whole document concerning the Venn family history is fascinating, even covering regicide page 223 (a person who kills a king or is responsible for his death, especially one of the judges who condemned Charles I of England to death).
  22. The Whitehouse Community Centre Site dedicated to this scheme. The Annual Report gives you most of the information.
  23. First published Thursday 26 June 2014 in Hereford Times News Was the Whte House on this list?
  24. Have a read of this for background Whitehouse Community Centre Business Plan 2011 - 2014 St Paul’s PCC February 2011 (extracts) This Business Plan outlines plans to turn a run down pub into a functional community centre, providing invaluable services and a much needed focus for community activity in North Tupsley. This is a partnership project between St Pauls Church and the North Tupsley Action Group (NTAG). Through the course of developing this business plan other partners have also been identified, for example; Herefordshire Housing, Herefordshire Voluntary Action, West Mercia Constabulary and Close House, all of whom fully support the project and are committed to working with us to make it a success. The refurbishment of the Whitehouse pub is being supported by Herefordshire County Council and local councillors who have provisionally suggested that a grant of £75,000 towards the refurbishment costs will be made available. Planning permission for change of use from a Public House to a Community Centre was applied for in 2010 and this was granted. A phased approach to refurbishment is proposed to allow for the gradual accumulation of the remaining capital required to complete the re-development. The priority will be to refurbish the ground floor, to ensure that the community are able to benefit as soon as possible from the facilities and that the facility is able to generate income. The phased plans for the refurbishment are: Year One Phase One – Refurbishment of the (i) office space (for use by a variety of outreach teams) (ii) the smaller bar area and toilets (iii) the first floor living accommodation (iv) kitchen. The first floor living accommodation will provide regular and reliable income for the project and is therefore a priority for refurbishment in Year One. It will be managed by Herefordshire Housing Year Two Phase Two – Refurbishment of the large function room and outdoor space. The current outbuildings will be turned into a thrift shop in this phase which will provide useful income for the project. Also the demand for a function room was clearly demonstrated through the community survey. This also has the potential of contributing useful income for the project Year Three/Four Phase Three – Refurbishment of the cellar into a dedicated multimedia youth space. The community consultation and consultation with stakeholders have clearly outlined the need for such a space in the area.
  25. Friday 24 October 2014 in Hereford News by Paul Broome Although a legal requirement, looks like the council do not like the responses to the form filling. Maybe they did want to serve alcohol 24 hours a day.
