Fraudulent banks, utility companies and corrupt courts
megilleland replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Thursday 23 October 2014 in Hereford Times News by Adam Knight Another section of society getting a rough deal and no justice. It is not only the Council using gagging orders to keep people quiet, but also the banks. This is an issue that affects over 40,000 small and medium sized buisinesses in the UK i.e. over eighty thousand people in the UK. -

Hereford Fire Station Planning Application

From: James Hughes (The Victorian Society) [mailto:james@victoriansociety.org.uk] Sent: 17 October 2014 18:27 To: Thomas, Edward Cc: ross.brazier@english-heritage.org.uk; Lowe, Sarah; Ancient Monuments Society; herefordcivicsociety@hotmail.co.uk Subject: P142554/F Dear Mr Thomas Our ref: 2014/10/008 RE: Former Hereford and District Working Boys Home and Industrial School, Bath Street, Hereford (1876, George Haddon, 1886, William Chick, 1895 and 1902, G. H. Godsell); application for the demolition of the buildings and the erection of a new fire station Thank you for consulting the Victorian Society on this application. We object to the proposal to demolish what is a building of significant local interest and importance, and to erect what would be a highly unsympathetic and harmful addition to the Conservation Area. We thoroughly endorse the views expressed by English Heritage in their letter of 29 September. This is a damaging and unjustified scheme that fails to comply with national legislation. It should be refused consent. I would be grateful if you could notify me of your decision in due course. Yours sincerely James Hughes -

I can only see a station at Rotherwas working if they use any built sidings to turn round and refuel the London Midland Trains to return to Birmingham. They can then just extend the timetable to allow for this. At the moment the Birmingham trains use the sidings just past the bridge at Commercial Road. Arriva may stop but the distance between the station and Rotherwas is too close. What sort of freight traffic would be called for at Rotherwas. Moreton on Lugg works because of the minerals.

There was definitely more accessability than now. Problem is everyone wants their motor car. I can understand those living in the countryside need one, but in the city some families have got more than 2 cars on their drive, many transporting just one individual. I gave mine up years ago and hire one when I want one - walking and cycling is so much easier. You could use the bus, but they have been cut back and do not run late, so it's no wonder the roads are jammed full of traffic.

I am afraid you cannot leave it to the proprietor to run his own business - everyone needs a piece of the action. I had a similar problem renovating a building to a small hotel and installing a bar while applying for a licence. Time was of the essence and I had to wait for a site visit from the licensing committee, but got ticked off by them for starting the installation before the application came before their committee. Then there was the Tourism Board, Local Conservation Officer, English Heritage, Fire Brigade, Evironmental Health, Business Rates, Employment Law and also the Bank. The feeling I got was that the authorities want to impose more expense on the business and felt it necessary to procastinate and delay over matters when you wanted a response. I did it for 11 years, but never again - a clip board job is far better.

The Left Bank appear to have crossed the council already. What with an £80,000 a year rate bill to pay and all the hoops that the authorities want them to jump through who would want to run a business in these times, especially when you can set up rate free in the OLM. Best of luck to them. Regulatory Sub Committee Thursday 23 October 2014 11.00 am 5. As a cyclist I think John Bothamley is correct here to object. Not keen on it going through Morrisons car park plenty of near misses from motorists just backing out. May as well run it to the end of the spur road which which link up with Canal Road.

Asset transfer and stripping for the public good?
megilleland replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Friday 17 October 2014 in Hereford Times News by Bill Tanner And that's without the university buildings being transferred. Everyday now we hear that the council is flogging off something or other, and on the local radio today, councils are saying that we have to volunteer more to save further money. These councils seem to just want us to hand over our money, and if they are not going to provide some sort of service, the answer is do it yourself. -

Reply received today from James Hughes, The Victorian Society The Society has been contacted about this case by a number of people. The Council only formally consulted us very recently. I will be writing to them today to support the comments of English Heritage, who make a very persuasive case for refusing consent. The Guardian, Wednesday 15 October 2014 Protests disrupt property fair in London Boris Johnson tells investors London is open for business, but organisers of Mipim conference are forced to close the gates Mipim (see post 26 above) were holding a UK conference in London today, but it didn't go well - people getting hissed off. I also heard on UK Column today that a council meeting at Glastonbury had been disrupted by discontented locals. No idea what it was about. -

Hereford Hospital CQC Report 14.10.14 ~ 'Inadequate'
megilleland replied to Roger's topic in Open Forum
I have been to the hospital several times since July and found nothing untoward regarding my treatment. The main problem I see is that the hospital is under pressure from too many people requiring attention on the day. The staff have always been helpful and I don't see them hanging around. On the contrary they all seem to be tearing around. No wonder they are stressed out. Lack of financial resources from this government, ongoing PFI payments and more NHS tranformation/change schemes is no doubt going to cause further damage. Better get in the privateers or should that be the pirateers. The trouble with management in this country is that they come in change and transform everything according to the government's agenda and when they realise they've bucked it up move onto to other areas and services to bolster their CV portfolio. Its about time somebody exposed this - any whistleblowers out there? -
