Herefordshire Council By Election - Ledbury 17th July 2014
megilleland replied to megilleland's topic in Open Forum
Reading this article about a Spanish political party that has won 6 seats in the EU election last May. They have come about as a result of a protest vote, similar to the UKIP effect in the UK. Polls suggest the party is gaining ground, showing that it could win between 30 and 58 seats in the Spanish parliament and capture as much as 15% of the vote, almost double the percentage it received in the European elections. Their leader, Pablo Iglesias, made this quote which appears to fit well with the situation in this country: "If people don't do politics, others will do it for you. And when others do it for you, they can steal your rights, your democracy and your wallet." It's ironic that the Spanish party have taken the slogan "Podemos" meaning "We can". Have Herefordshire Council sold the slogan to the party, as here the council obviously can't. So remember your vote counts when elections turn up. -

Received this by email this morning. Eviction, The Fraud of the Bank. A personal tale and call for help. It's going on everywhere and will get worse as the banks cash in their assets to top up their reserves. The banks have got no cash we are bankrupt. -

Hello Pete.g welcome to the Voice. Have you got your east and west mixed up. JN supports an eastern route being shorter and cheaper and linking into the Enterprise Zone. The Council want the bypass/relief road to go around the west of the city where they want to build thousands of more houses. They can't do that if it goes east as it crosses the wet grasslands of Lugg Meadows which flood every year. The council is desperate for more council tax they just can't wait to waste more of our hard earned money. Have a look at post 15 where JN has written a response concerning a relief road.

I wonder if this is why UK Column got taken off. It wouldn't do to draw too much attention to illegal goings on in other parts of the establishment ie banks, county courts, church and government. I did view that Guy Taylor video before it was taken down and the TV studio segment was constructed to resemble a tv newsroom. The TV style 'news' host was possibly the most biased I have ever seen and his female co-presenter merely seemed to nod in agreement with him. Is it an offence to present information in a format deemed by the authorities to resemble mainstream television? Brian Gerrish researches his information and always invites doubters to do the same. It seems to me that an alternative view could be correct, so why are the authorities frightened of what he has to say. You say he is biased. Don't you like what he is telling you or can't you believe these things actually go on in the UK. ATVOD has been delegated powers by OFCOM to regulate certain on demand video for anyone who doesn't know. It was arranged under a Labour regime. Correct Roger. Tony Blair brought this in. He wouldn't have an interest in controlling media output - would he?. All the mainstream parties have an interest in controlling the media. Its been in the news lately hasn't it. It was the UK Column that highlighted the attempt by the government to try to gag future journalistic freedom through the setting up of the Levenson Inquiry. If you look at the internet coverage of this UK Column video removal episode then the people moaning are people like David Icke who is that well known fruit loop Roger, we are not all fruit loops. Isn't that what Kenneth Clark said about UKIP. In undemocratic countries they just take you outside and shoot you. Here they are a bit more sophisticated - they just laugh at you. ... Nothing has really hit the radar of the mainstream press. As I said a few days ago, Wonga have been correctly picked up for using fraudalent documents against vunerable people. This is the tip of an iceberg and the corruption rampant in this country goes right to the top. The BBC and mainstream media pump out what the government and establishment think we need to know. What exactly has caused these videos to be removed? You tell me. It can't be because it resembles pornography, which this body appears to be rightly concerned about and watch every year judging by their determinations list. Is it that they are imitating tv? Is this an offence in this country? How can they be imitating TV when the message is so different to what the mainstream channels are telling us. They are plenty of alternative programmes on the internet. Have they not paid a required fee? No they haven't as it is not clear where they fit into the regulatory scale. But do they need to pay? Maybe it's a plan to get everyone placing information on the internet to pay a registration fee and control content. Anyone got a link to any ATVOD contact where they outline the alleged infringements? If you can make sense of what they do here is the link to their website. For an organisation that wants to communicate with the public here's how they start explaining themselves: I like the last sentence - classic Orwell. The term "doublespeak" probably has its roots in George Orwell's book, Nineteen Eighty-Four. Although the term is not used in the book, it is a close relative of one of the book's central concepts, "doublethink". Another variant, "doubletalk," also referring to deliberately ambiguous speech, did exist at the time Orwell wrote his book, but the usage of "doublespeak" as well as of "doubletalk" in the sense emphasizing ambiguity clearly postdates the publication of Nineteen Eighty-Four. Petition: Reverse Decision To Reduce Grass Cutting

It was a pity this act was not in force when they signed the contract with Balfour Beatty. Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 became law on the 8th March 2012. From 31st January 2013 the Act is 'live' and commissioners and procurers must adhere to it. The Act was initiated by Chris White MP as a Private Members Bill, the progress of the Bill becoming law is documented here. What is the Act? The Act, for the first time, places a duty on public bodies to consider social value ahead of a procurement. The Act applies to the provision of services, or the provision of services together with the purchase or hire of goods or the carrying out of works. The wording of the Act states that... The authority must consider— (a) how what is proposed to be procured might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the relevant area, and (b) how, in conducting the process of procurement, it might act with a view to securing that improvement. It also opens the door for consultation with stakeholders to better understand social value and improve service specifications, the Act states... The authority must consider whether to undertake any consultation What does social value mean under the Act? The wording of the act states.. the authority must consider.. only matters that are relevant to what is proposed to be procured and, in doing so, must consider the extent to which it is proportionate in all the circumstances to take those matters into account. Here is a presentation that may make it clear.- 427 replies

Hereford Times News: Friday 27th June 2014 by Bill Tanner So that's where the grass cutting savings went. Amazing that when the staff at the lower levels are "transformed" they get to lose their jobs and forgo pay rises, whereas those bringers of change at the top shovel more of our money into their pockets and put PFI payments into their friends companies offshore. No wonder they want UK Column off the air. -
