  1. I can't change it in the original quote (post 14) as it is outside the edit period. However every other link after works.
  2. I don't think he can resist a comment on the right subject matter. He just needs a prompt. Maybe he has decided to secretly infiltrate the enemy. He could be drinking with Jarvis right now. If we haven't heard from him in two weeks we had better go round and check his home.
  3. Yes more clutter. I counted 22 traffic light posts in this area. What a way to solve a problem of keeping everything moving!
  4. Yes good PR for Hereford Housing and they need it as a lot of residents will be upset if they plan more building on their open spaces transferred to them by the Council in 2002.
  5. Try it again I have just checked it.
  6. Dogs bites are not limited to Leominster as the same for national news which affects us all here in Hereford. John Harrington was on the spot to take the photograph. Still it is good that you were aware of this incident and although you couldn't post it at the time - any news is always welcome and hope to see you posting again.
  7. Police probe requested for cash-strapped Council's cut-price Sir Anthony Eden mansion sale POLICE have been asked to investigate why a cash-strapped council sold the stately home where former Conservative prime minister Sir Anthony Eden was born – potentially worth millions – for just £241,000. and The council was so desperate to sell not only did officials accept Mr Davenport’s £241,000 offer, they spent £36,375 to repair the central heating system for him and even spent £4,453 on filling the Hall’s heating system oil tanks. Full story here. An audit report criticised the council for a lack of “clarity and transparency†in its handling of the sale and said it should have obtained an independent valuation but concluded it was not possible to say whether the authority could have obtained more money for it. The council insists it did nothing wrong and got the best possible deal.
  8. I see Hereford Voice gets the unfortunate news first again. Hereford Times have just picked this up through the Press Association today at 10.54am under National News.
  9. As postman we encounter this problem everyday. Our union issued this statement.
  10. The Independent today: A magnificent gesture - a real human being.
  11. Planning Practice Guidance Conserving and enhancing the historic environment - Non-designated heritage assets Don't Councillors read this information and act on it? and What is a material planning consideration? ie The scope of what can constitute a material consideration is very wide and so the courts often do not indicate what cannot be a material consideration. However, in general they have taken the view that planning is concerned with land use in the public interest. So that would rule out the private interests of a cabinet with 7 members?
  12. Useful information here: Welcome to the home of the National Planning Policy Framework for England and planning practice guidance. For the first time, planning practice guidance is easily accessible and available online at http://planningguidance.planningportal.gov.uk/
  13. The Independent - Jonathan Brown - Friday 30 May 2014 God save Whitby village green from the Supreme Court This should read “by right†they did not do so “as of right†Bad news for our future generations. The government has sold off the school playing fields and now they are looking at our civic open spaces. Is there no end to what they want to sell off. Watch out - it will be your children next. This will give carte blanche to developers, and that includes Registered Social Landlords ie Herefordshire Housing to build over all our established green areas.
  14. Yet Jesse Norman says the bypass can go east and save lots of money (see post 15). But we wouldn't want that would we? Neighbourhood plans are all the vogue at the moment. Plenty of rural parishes jumping in and having a say what happens in their patch. Do not see any action for the parish of Hereford City. Don't they think that anyone lives here or does the world end at Ledbury Cllr Bramer?
  15. BBC H&W News 29th May 2014: I wonder if anyone from HC will be involved in this set up? Read the mantra here as a result of the government's tranformation agenda.
  16. Hereford Times: Friday 30th May 2014 in News By Bill Tanner This seems to have caused a lot of mirth on the HT comments. Is this the same man who wanted to cut the library service last year?
  17. Extract from the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 Section 215 Best Practice Guidance Pity this is only aimed at private individuals. A shame that the Council doesn't follow this guidance for the eyesores they create and that includes the fire ruined buildings in High Town. The powers who draw up this advice always fail to close the loopholes which allow public bodies to carry on in this manner.
  18. No I was thinking more about the situation within housing. I would have thought there could be a conflict regarding social housing and private property lettings. Regarding driving on the roads for a living, many of us do. I believe there has been a rapid growth in licensed taxis over the last five years. How many taxis block Bewell Street everyday? Who can afford them with the Council cutting subsidies on buses. I stick to my bike to get through this city easily. When you look through the councillors' interests, many declare no interests at all. Maybe that's why the city lacks any imaginative movement.
  19. Appears to be a clash of interests here:
  20. Council News 28 May 2014 I imagine there will be some new faces on Planning Committee for the Fire Station application when it comes up. Hope they are up to speed on what is going on or will they follow the officers advice. What do you think?
  21. Wednesday 28th May 2014 in Hereford Times News By Bill Tanner:
  22. Maybe we can put Booby on the chain gang if he goes inside.
